Past 2 experiences at State have been sub par, kitchen is clearly not equipped for the amount of tables establishment has. We waited exponentially long for appetizers, server recognized this and removed from Bill, when they did arrive we received maybe 5 tablespoons or guacamole. Daughter’s fries weren’t cooked. Had to ask for new ones which server brought immediately! Ordered the jambalaya which has Ben my favorite beside the burger and it was overcooked and then put n a sizzling cast iron skillet which continued to cook which then made things worse. This is 2nd time n a month this has happened and will be taking a break from State, but gosh is unfortunate but management needs to get a hold of the problems. To many tables outside crammed into area and kitchen can’t handle that many tables.

We had a great time, food was very good my wife’s skirt steak w/ chimichurri was fantastic though the fries and veggies were meh. The servers was attentive and made sure we had what we needed. We didn’t bring our dog but like that the patio was dog friendly. We definitely would come back.

We were in Chattanooga for a few days with our two teenage daughters, and State of Confusion was one recommendation from friends. We went for dinner and sat in their outdoor patio. The vibe was fun and our server was great! We loved that the patio was dog friendly. Our food was delicious! We ordered the boudin balls for an appetizer. Highly recommend! Our entrées included the fried chicken sandwich, pecan crusted trout, Mexican ceviche, and butter steak. All were amazing! We highly recommend State of Confusion if you’re ever in Chattanooga!

We were there for over an hour before we got our food. They said they were slammed, but there were several open tables. Staff was friendly and attentive. Food was not quite as good as we have had previously. Not a great visit, but certainly not bad. This is a fun restaurant and we will be back.

We made a reservation for 4 at 6:15PM. When we checked in with the host, she asked if we wanted to eat inside or outside and we said inside as it was chilly out that evening. She said we would need to wait to get an inside table as they were waiting to clear one off and she would text me when it was ready. We sat at the fire table that was next to the host stand to wait and stay warm. After about 10 minutes, she still had not texted us (there was no line, but there were others waiting and checking in.) She looked at her pad to see our reservation and asked again if we wanted to sit inside or out. So it seemed she was not working on a table for us inside and didn’t remember us. Thankfully, she was able to ask another staff member if there was a table inside and there was so we were seated then. Once seated, we were taken care of fairly quickly in getting drink orders in and then ordering our food. My husband and I enjoyed the agua frescas we ordered, which were light and flavorful. One of our companions had a margarita that she said is the best she’s had in town. Our food came out fairly quickly, and was hot with ample servings. I got the crispy pan-seared chicken and my husband got the paella. I really enjoyed my chicken dish! The spices and the crispy exterior of the chicken were great and the chicken was still moist inside. It was served over some tasty fries with a sauce that was light and flavorful. My husband really enjoyed the paella and said all the seafood in it was very nicely cooked. We had lovely beignets for desserts which were hot, fluffy and the perfect small bit to end the meal. Our server was friendly and made good recommendations, as well as keeping our water filled and getting new drink orders regularly. Overall, it was a good experience with a dinner menu that has some out of the ordinary fare that is well prepared. We would go back.

The service was great, food was delicious, drinks we just what we wanted (I got the Pisco Sour-type drink and it was so good!) My husband and I had not been on a date not in a long time, and I'm so happy we chose State of Confusion - it is consistently great!

Great atmosphere if you’re don’t mind a lot of people. Not the best option if you’re looking for a quiet, romantic evening. Very energized. Food was wonderful and our server, Chase, was very attentive and courteous. We will definitely go back!

Overall it was a very average dining experience for an inflated price. The food was okay, but nothing stood out as great. The “eclectic” menu led to a disorganized cuisine, which may have been the goal of the concept—but it felt like everything fell short of a standard of excellence. Service was very slow and there was a lack of communication amongst the staff. We were welcomed by the host for my birthday reservation, but there was no follow through or mention of the occasion from our server at any point. We had an issue with one of our dishes getting dropped (which was communicated to us by a food runner), but it was very apparent our server was unaware of this until later on. The greatest disappointment of the night came from the dessert. We ordered the Lucuma ice cream—which it itself was good, however for the price and a 15 minute wait we expected more than a cardboard cup of ice cream pulled straight from the freezer. The environment was bustling and loud, making it a bit difficult to hold a conversation.

It was so amazing !! The food is delicious. We were able to snap an igloo and it was so fun for the kids we are from Miami so we loved it! The food was also delicious and they were super friendly to the kids and had a great kids menu as well! I had the steak with chimi so yum and we had the monkey bread app! So yum

We went for lunch and then realized that the paella was not on the lunch menu. Our sweet waitress Samantha asked the kitchen if it was possible to have the dish prepared for us. I was shocked at the lengths of effort both Samantha and the staff went to to make our visit perfect. The service was outstanding and the paella was absolutely delicious with just enough spice. We will definitely return and highly recommend State of Confusion.

Fun atmosphere, a bit noisy, but food was very good. Service a little slow, but we were there on Saturday evening.

We had reservations and were seated immediately but then our waitress came, brought us water then disappears for 28mins. I had to go back to the hostess and ask where our server was. The food came out quick (after we were finally about to order) but we were were late to a show at the walker theater after. The waitress' excuse was, "sorry, I had to take the other tables order". There wasn't more to the story. She was just taking another order for 30mins.

as planned, we arrived early enough to get an Igloo. We had out of town guests (Buford, GA) with us and they were blown away with SoC. The food was amazing (we double ordered the chip/nacho's they were so good) and all 4 entree's were just off the charts. Happy Hour is a very good value for drinks so get there early. Food is priced very fairly as well. What made this night so incredible though, was our waitress Tenlie. She played along with our goofiness', suggested some amazing things and took care of us like we were family. I WILL request here when I go back and I WILL go back! Thank you Tenlie.

Love to eat at State of Confusion. It's a fun atmosphere but most of all the food is delicious!
