Square Grill House Restaurant & Piano Bar in the heart of Bath.

Open for breakfast, morning coffee, lunch and afternoon drinks. Throughout the day the terrace by Abbey Square and lounge area will be perfect to relax with a drink and nibbles. As the sun sets and we get ready for dinner to serve our signature dishes with the best local produce. Our resident Pianist and DJ will begin, and cocktails will flow.

The restaurant is beautiful with venetian walls, banquettes upholstered in leather and marble feel tables.

We had a delicious meal and our waitress couldn’t have been more helpful - got us through in plenty of time for the theatre. Only criticism was noise - we were seated by a waiting station where there was a lot of banging and clattering; two members of the team stood close by our table having a loud conversation; and the piano could do with a tune!

Busy restaurant so recommend booking a table in advance. When I arrived there was another lady waiting. The maitre d' wasn't around so I caught the eye of a waiter who came over. We both gave details of our respective bookings but there initially seemed to be no acknowledgement of our bookings. We were left waiting at the entrance. Then another party arrived for their reservation. Again nobody was around to deal with them. Finally a maitre d' arrived and confirmed to the lady in front of me that her table was being arranged. I was ignored and left worried that there wasn't a table for my group. A few minutes later I managed to catch the eye of someone else and said I'm still waiting for my tablets. He asked if it was the table for 8 and I replied no it was a table for 6. He apologised and said there had been a misunderstanding and immediately took us to our table. I was worried it was going to be under the awning near the entrance but thankfully it was inside at a lovely table where it was a bit less noisy. There seemed to be plenty of staff but no-one keeping an eye out for arrivals. Those dealing with arrivals didn't seem v on the ball and weren't that welcoming. This is an area that could be improved on. After being seated things improved greatly. The service was lovely and our waiter was cheerful and had a joke with us. The food was delicious without excessive wait times for it's arrival. Would definitely recommend to friends.

Excellent food , service was superb. Great variety of food, and they were very accommodating of dietary restrictions and allergies. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

Absolutely wonderful food and were very knowledgeable about gluten free, which I very appreciated being a celiac. Great atmosphere and Ross our waiter an absolute delight. Is on my list to go back again when I'm in Bath!

First time we’ve been to this restaurant.we were shown upstairs to a large room. We were a Party of 4 adults. Food was good but in particular the beetroot/ pear starter was not very good value. Looked pretty but some diced beetroot mini salad and 2 small pieces of pear really did not warrant the cost. Whilst the calamari had more pieces than any calamari starter I’ve ever seen! I thought generally the starters were all quite expensive with many being £14 each. The mains were all enjoyed. Husband had chicken skewers which he said were very tasty and myself and friend had the beef pasta , which was lovely but possibly a little al dente for my liking making it quite hard in places. The seafood linguine had a good selection of seafood. The only things I would criticise was the wine list was very expensive. Most of the wine was £45 plus for a bottle, so did crank the price of the meal up considerably. I also thought that generally the place was a bit tired and the lighting way to bright as it showed up the imperfections in the painting and decor that otherwise would have gone unnoticed. The service was acceptable, I can’t really remember the staff being particularly welcoming or attentive. Wouldn’t rush back to eat there when there are so many other lovely restaurants in Bath that are better value and have a better ambience.

Great Location, Outdoor seating was lovely on a sunny evening. Staff were very attentive and food was delicious. We had the sharing platter and the steak was really nice. Highly recommend. The cocktails were also very good. Had a lovely dinner before heading to Komedia for a night of comedy.
