We had a reservation for 6pm. Initial interaction with hostess was bad. She was fairly rude and said we still had a 15 minute wait. After 15 minutes had passed we realized she was seating larger parties without reservations before us. Again she was rude and said they had been waiting longer. I would think that you’d seat your patrons with reservations first. She must have told a manager that we weren’t happy because all of a sudden, we were treated very well and seated immediately. From that point on it was a very pleasant evening. Our server was fantastic and the food was very good.

Always amazing. Great food. Had the ribeye with chicken enchilada, butter cake was very good. Flan was to die for.

I’ve probably come here about 50 times within the past 10 years. The food taste is always consistent and amazing. However, the portions of the food have been going downhill ever since covid. The portions on the carnitas and enchiladas are insanely smaller than they used to be, and of course, more expensive now than they used to be. Costs rising is understandable to an extent, however, not the decrease in portion sizes for a larger amount of money. Nicks always has a customer when I’m involved, I just wish they would’ve kept the same portions !!

Need some outdoor seating, great food but none of their locations have outdoor seating. With summer coming around the corner it’s nice to have a margarita outside

Food and service were good. Noise level even on a Monday made it difficult to hear conversation from my party. I’m not hard of hearing.

Wasn’t busy and gave us an opportunity to sit and talk and enjoy the table, drinks and food over 4hrs!! Long lunch and the servers that rotated thru were super kind and attentive. The margaritas were delicious the butter cake stole the show!

Went for an early anniversary dinner date night. Food was delicious. Margarita flights were outstanding. Service was exceptional. Excellent night out.

We were a bit apprehensive when we took our daughter, who has multiple special needs. They were so kind, they gave us a quiet table near the fireplace, and Grace, our server, was warm, friendly and understanding. The food was absolutely outstanding; the chile relleno was probably the best I’d ever had. The chips were fresh and warm, and the hot salsa and warm black bean salsa were just great. Our daughter loved the Albóndigas (meatballs) with Spanish rice and refried beans, while my husband enjoyed the seafood enchiladas. We’d go back again!

The carnitas plate is always my husband's go to choice. I love the blackened fish tacos and shrimp! The fresh chips and salsa's are always awesome! We travel a distance to come and have a fantastic lunch/dinner!

Cool place with a fun vibe. The food is delicious, and the service is excellent. Try the Smokey Pineapple drink from the bar - yum!

I loved the seafood enchiladas. My wife liked her salad with the large shrimp. My daughters had the ground beef El Jefe burrito and the crispy beef tacos. My passion fruit martini was great. The burrito was not as good as Carmelitas in Dana Point. Very nice ambience and attentive service. The butter cake is very good but you must get extra compote. Also I was surprised that there was no gratuitous dessert provided for my birthday. Oh well..😢

Love all the Nick's. First time for us in San Clemente and were not disappointed. Food and service was great. We lingered over lunch with friends we hadn't seen in many years and were not rushed.

We each had steak. The filet was perfect and nicely presented. The ribeye and cheese enchiladas were outstanding. One of the best I’ve had. Definitely will come back

Impeccable service from Karcher and Chloe. Been to Nicks and Nicks on state and it is always awesome but for some reason haven't been to south of Nicks. finally made it today! Host was very attentive and professional. The whole restaurant has a great layout, modern yet keeping a gentle homage to Mexico. Service is impeccable which I would say is true at all Nicks locations. Wait staff and back waiters did an amazing job. Food is delicious. Chips and salsa seem like something you wouldn't comment on but they were just great. Main entrees were carnitas, seafood chile relleno, taco salad and shrimp tacos. All perfect size dishes and served promptly. Drinks (margaritas) were excellent by the bar staff. Overall a wonderful experience with my family. I would give it 10 stars if I could!

Excellent food and service in upscale Mexican food restaurant.....creative dishes with very fresh ingredients....good size portions....ask for Jacob a wonderful server...he made our evening special....be sure to get the butter cake with ice cream for desert.

My family usually eats here once a week. Service is always outstanding and food is usually amazing, not sure what happened today. Food was a little cold, beans were dried like they had been sitting out. First time food has not been great.
