Le South Branch est le lieu de rassemblement en semaine le plus branché de Chicago et le plus étonnant espace événementiel en bord de rivière. South Branch is an appealing looking spot but it is horribly loud. If it is just two people dining, you might be fine. We had a table of 4 at lunch and could not hear each other. They desperately need some sound absorbing panels. In addition, we all ordered salads and they were all dripping in salad dressing that pooled in the bottom of the bowls. Very disappointing. The server was attentive and good. That is it that was good about our experience.

Prices are really high and then a 3% charge is added to the bill. While the food and service was good, I can't justify paying $30 per person for lunch.

We weren’t seated until 6:40 because they didn’t have any tables open. It was VERY loud!

We used OpenTable in the original way, quickly finding an open table near us, and it worked perfectly. I’d been to South Branch previously, but not during nice weather. On this gorgeous day we hoped to sit outside and luckily when we checked in, a table had just paid and we were able to take the seats. It was quite busy, with young professionals coming and going. Very energetic and fun. Our servers were great, attentive and helpful when I asked questions. My husband had the Cajun pasta— he was hesitant as we are from Louisiana but he said it was very good, with andouille and chicken. I had an excellent turkey sandwich with avocado on beautiful bread, with a side of tomato bisque. Our drinks were also tasty. It was a great end to a fun afternoon downtown.

Delicuous shrimp tacos and salad with roast salmon. Excellent service. MUSIC WAY TOO LOUD IN THIS CROWDED (5:30 Thursday) SOT.

We chose to dine here because it was close to the Civic Opera (we had tickets for “Aida*). For whatever reason I imagined the South Branch was going to be a pub with bar food but was surprised at how modern and tasteful the interior was. Our table was next to a window overlooking the “South Branch” of the Chicago River and it was fun seeing all the tour boats passing by. The food was very good. We had cheese curds for an appetizer. For the entree I had the steak wrap with garlic mashed potatoes, my wife had the macaroni and cheese, and my daughter had a cheeseburger with fries. The price was what you’d expect for a restaurant in the Loop but it wasn’t astronomical. I’d say it’s a great place to take someone from out of town after you had deep dish, Chicago-style hot dogs, and a cheeseborger at the Billy Goat Tavern.

Food was really good, second time I've had lunch here. Portions are a little big for a lunchtime and quite a few other customers were taking boxes back to the office with them, never a great thing to do in my book ...
