Seit der Sommersaison 2013 führen Barbara und Samuel Senn das Restaurant Sonnmatten in der Winkelmatten. Wir haben durchgehen warme Küche von 12:00 bis 21:00. Im Sommer servieren wir à la carte. Im Sommer ist Mittwochs zu. Unsere Sommersaison endet am 30.Septermber. Wir freuen uns auf eueren Besuch.

Barbara Stelzer: „Wir freuen uns sehr, dass Einheimische sich gerne zu uns an die Tische setzen“, sagt sie. Das Restaurant ist zum Treffpunkt für Gäste aus dem Dorf und aus der ganzen Welt geworden – sei es an den Tischen im Freien mit Blick aufs Matterhorn, sei in der gemütlichen Gaststube.

Koch Samuel Senn ist in Zermatt kein Unbekannter. Er hat jahrelang im Hotel Mont Cervin Palace als Souschef gearbeitet. Seine Küche in der Sonnmatten ist „einfach, ehrlich und mit regionalem Touch“, sagt er, während er am Mittag mit geübter Übersicht am Freiluftgrill Würste und Steaks dreht.

Wunderschönes Restaurant mit herausragenden Speisen! Bedienung freundlich und speditiv. Empfang durch die Chefin etwas unfreundlich und kühl. Schade, dennoch definitiv einen - oder mehrere - Besuche wert.

Schnitzel und Kalb ist zu empfehlen. Nachspeise sind sehr entschauschend - extrem niedrige Menge. Pommes sind gefroren gleich wie beim Mc Donalds.

Wonderful meal a short hike from central Zermatt. It’s not value priced but nothing is in this valley. Substantially better than some of the other restaurants such as cervo bazaar. Enjoyed the setting, service, and food presentations. I would return again if I’m ever back in Zermatt.

Charming place, good food, good service and good value for money compared to Switzerland and Zermatt in particular. This is the second time we have dinner here and it is definitely one of, if not our favorite restaurant in Zermatt. We warmly recommend

Waren mit Freunden zum Nachtessen da. Trotz vollem Haus war der Service sehr freundlich und das Essen kam prompt. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis stimmt. Wir haben den Abend sehr genossen. Kommen gerne wieder.

Ich durfte meinen Geburtstag in der Sonnmatten feiern bei hervorragendem Essen von A bis Z. Das Servicepersonal war einfach super, es gibt echt nichts zu bemängeln! Freundlich, aufmerksam und zuvorkommend. Wir kommen wieder, versprochen!

Service ohne Klasse. Wienerschnitzel gut aber Portion zu gross, sollte auch Halbportion Angebot geben. Service mangelhaft und zuviel Druck zu bezahlen und den Resto zu verlassen vor 20.00 Uhr. Zu teuer für was es ist. Cordon bleu zu teuer.

Das Wienerschnitzel war wirklich top, 10/10. Dafür komme ich gerne wieder. Jedoch war die Bedienung etwas gestresst/überfordert. Die eine Cola wurde beim Servieren über den Tisch und mich verschüttet. Kann passieren, ist doof, aber wir sind alle Menschen. Enttäuschend war die Reaktion darauf; eine Nasse Serviette oder etwas zum Putzen gab es nur auf Nachfrage, eine Entschuldigung gab es kaum und die Cola wurde zum vollen Preis verrechnet.. das war schon etwas schade, ansonsten gerne wieder.

Wienerschnitzel soweit das Auge reicht - etwas mehr Kartoffelsalat wäre super. Kinder hatten Rindstartar - super leckeres Essen. Ist etwas eng gestuhlt und deshalb sehr lebhaft. Service sehr routiniert.

Wir waren sehr zufrieden. Der Service war sehr gut, das Essen ausgezeichnet. Wir mussten gar nicht warten, alles in allem ein sehr schöner und gelungener Abend. Herzlichen Dank dem ganzen Team. Familie Guhl Auf jeden Fall werde ich Sonnmatten weiter empfehlen.

Wir waren zu fünft an einem Abend Anfang Februar zu Gast im Sonnmatten. Alle haben unterschiedliche Vor- und Hauptspeisen bestellt und es kam alles perfekt aufeinander abgestimmt. Die Qualität der Gänge war wirklich hervorragend. Der Service war stets zugegen aber dezent im Auftritt. So wie man es sich wünscht. Wir können das Sonnmatten wirklich empfehlen.

Das Essen ist sehr gut, da gibt es nichts auszusetzen. Allerdings wird auf Allergien nicht eingegangen. Bei der Tischreservierung hatte ich immer „glutenfrei“ erwähnt, aber noch nie kam eine Reaktion. Bei einem „13 Gault Millau“ Restaurant finde ich das sehr bedenklich. Auch bei der Nachfrage nach glutenfreiem Brot, kam nur ein „nein“ und mehr nicht. Echt schade aber anscheinend haben sie es nicht nötig…

Stayed at the Matterhon Design Focus nearby and had not thought about Sonnmatten until a freind had lunch there. It was a very short walk from the hotel and the views from the walkway are wonderful. Very nice place inside and great service. The schnitzel and particularly the red curry chile mango soup were great. Worth a visit for sure.

Hervorragendes Essen in toller Ambiente. Einziger Minuspunkt: Cordon-Bleu und Wienerschnitzel sollten in zwei Grössen und mit Mengenangabe angeboten werden.

wir geniessen, dass man auch am Mittag eine grosse Menukarte erhält, nicht nur Snacks. Das Essen ist wirklich sehr gut, egal was. Was uns weniger gut gefällt, ist dass man Wasser erhält, das im Haus mit Kohlensäure angereichert wird. Das ist kein Mineralwasser.

Lobster with glass noodles were incredible! Schnitzel was very good. Note be prepared for a hike if you’re walking from train station area. Beautiful restaurant. Server a little rude but that’s to be expected. Would go again.

Unser Start ins neue Jahr wurde durch das Team, Essen/Wein, Ambiente zu einem tollen Erlebnis. Die Wienerschnitzel sind eine Wucht, wie der Rest der Karte. Jedermann findet aus der vielseitigen Karte etwas Gutes. Danke an Barbara und ihr Team für die stets freundliche, professionelle Bedienung.
