    Excellent food and service. The staff were very helpful and the food was delightful. The music wasn't too loud and the restaurant had a wonderful atmosphere.

    We ordered the “Mixed Fried Seafood” platter. There were lots of vegetables (lots), 1 (ONE) shrimp and few calamari. Definitely not impressed. The risotto primavera was good, the ravioli also good but only 6-7 of them. Pizza was ok and the pappardelle with wild boar was a bit too cheesy, but interesting combination of flavors. Desserts were just ok. Overall for the price, I would expect something more, like a bread basket (included with dinner) and bigger portions.

    I have heard many good things about Solare, but somehow had never been. I'm so glad I finally discovered this amazing restaurant! It was a ladies/friends get together. We were seated in the wine room, which is a tiny room, completely contained in the center of the restaurant, with wine bottles all around. And while you still feel very much a part of the restaurant, you are very privately served in a very lovely atmosphere. Our server was extremely helpful in comments about the menu, and patient as we needed help deciding which red wine for one guest. He brought several tastes. And was adamant that "you should be happy with your choice". We shared an app - fritto misto - shrimp, vegetables, zucchini, and calamari with a calabrian chili dip. Excellent and nice portion. We had the eggplant parmigiana, my friend said it's her favorite and while she often chooses this at other places, commented that this is her very favorite. One ordered Pappardelle and it was excellent. And I ordered Linguine Alle Volle, Artisanal linguine with manilla clams, EVOO, garlic, parsley. Calabrian chili peppers (it is a little spicy but not too!), and cherry tomatoes This was so good and I can't wait to have it again. The owner Randi came to visit our table. He is genuine, warm and friendly and really made us feel welcome and valued. Dessert was delicious and different: Crema Brusciatta - Sicilian pistachios fill this crème brulee with delicately burned brown sugar. I loved how the desserts are featured in the menu early "dessert first" to tempt you, especially if you're a dessert lover like me! We are Italian and I can't wait to take my family here. It was amazing!

    A really special place, where the food speaks on its own. Solid place of excellence with amazing wines.

    I thought the eggplant parm was bland, and the first dish was not warm. It was replaced with a second, warmer (not hot) version. The bread was not hardy like Italian bread. The service and atmosphere were excellent.

    First time there and loved the experience, food was delicious except for the 1 hour and 15 minute time limit due to Mother’s Day.

    We had our Mother's Day Brunch at Solare, and the food, service, and ambiance were all beyond our expectations. We believe it's the best Italian food we've ever had in San Diego (lifelong residents)- up there with Caesrina and all the top-tier Italian restaurants. Incredible pasta with thin-cut truffles, delicious pizza, antipasto, mussels, and dessert. The works. Negronis. We loved it all.

    The food, service, and ambience were great. We had the scallops with risotto and truffle shavings and the sea bass. Both of these dishes were excellent. We also enjoyed the squash blossoms appetizer and the spinach salad. We highly recommend this award winning restaurant. The noise level inside was moderate on a weeknight.
