Excellent food and service. The staff were very helpful and the food was delightful. The music wasn't too loud and the restaurant had a wonderful atmosphere.

We ordered the “Mixed Fried Seafood” platter. There were lots of vegetables (lots), 1 (ONE) shrimp and few calamari. Definitely not impressed. The risotto primavera was good, the ravioli also good but only 6-7 of them. Pizza was ok and the pappardelle with wild boar was a bit too cheesy, but interesting combination of flavors. Desserts were just ok. Overall for the price, I would expect something more, like a bread basket (included with dinner) and bigger portions.

I have heard many good things about Solare, but somehow had never been. I'm so glad I finally discovered this amazing restaurant! It was a ladies/friends get together. We were seated in the wine room, which is a tiny room, completely contained in the center of the restaurant, with wine bottles all around. And while you still feel very much a part of the restaurant, you are very privately served in a very lovely atmosphere. Our server was extremely helpful in comments about the menu, and patient as we needed help deciding which red wine for one guest. He brought several tastes. And was adamant that "you should be happy with your choice". We shared an app - fritto misto - shrimp, vegetables, zucchini, and calamari with a calabrian chili dip. Excellent and nice portion. We had the eggplant parmigiana, my friend said it's her favorite and while she often chooses this at other places, commented that this is her very favorite. One ordered Pappardelle and it was excellent. And I ordered Linguine Alle Volle, Artisanal linguine with manilla clams, EVOO, garlic, parsley. Calabrian chili peppers (it is a little spicy but not too!), and cherry tomatoes This was so good and I can't wait to have it again. The owner Randi came to visit our table. He is genuine, warm and friendly and really made us feel welcome and valued. Dessert was delicious and different: Crema Brusciatta - Sicilian pistachios fill this crème brulee with delicately burned brown sugar. I loved how the desserts are featured in the menu early "dessert first" to tempt you, especially if you're a dessert lover like me! We are Italian and I can't wait to take my family here. It was amazing!

I thought the eggplant parm was bland, and the first dish was not warm. It was replaced with a second, warmer (not hot) version. The bread was not hardy like Italian bread. The service and atmosphere were excellent.

First time there and loved the experience, food was delicious except for the 1 hour and 15 minute time limit due to Mother’s Day.

We had our Mother's Day Brunch at Solare, and the food, service, and ambiance were all beyond our expectations. We believe it's the best Italian food we've ever had in San Diego (lifelong residents)- up there with Caesrina and all the top-tier Italian restaurants. Incredible pasta with thin-cut truffles, delicious pizza, antipasto, mussels, and dessert. The works. Negronis. We loved it all.

The food, service, and ambience were great. We had the scallops with risotto and truffle shavings and the sea bass. Both of these dishes were excellent. We also enjoyed the squash blossoms appetizer and the spinach salad. We highly recommend this award winning restaurant. The noise level inside was moderate on a weeknight.

James was my server. He was extremely standoffish and did not acknowledge both adult at the table (there was only two people). The time slot I reserved was a time where we happened to be the only two sitting outside for the majority of the visit. James checked on us twice and was reluctant to assist both adults. It was very disappointing as he had an obvious racial bias. Several staff members walked by without any acknowledgment of us at the table. One staff member went to the check in person and asked him to ask if we needed boxes (not James the server). Later James came back left the check out device on the table and walked away after putting the check on the table. I waited until he returned to retrieve it and asked his name and his managers name (Terry is the name he gave) I thanked him for the information and his response was “are we in trouble”. Obviously he knew he racially profiled me. I would not recommend or return to this place no matter what they have been awarded. Sad, because it ruined a birthday dinner.

My meal and experience at Solare was wonderful- I can highly recommend. So glad to find a restaurant that truly offers delicious food with plenty of gluten free, pescatarian options!

Second time coming here and it was really good again. They were down a couple servers but the bartenders helped out and they got it done. Everything from the zucchini blossoms to the tiramisu was fantastic. Great wine list and whiskey list. Highly recommend.

We took our young adult age nieces and nephew to dinner here while we were visiting San Diego. It was a great experience, the food was excellent and reasonably priced for what we got. They coursed out the meal at a good pace that allowed us to have a nice unhurried visit while enjoying a lovely meal.

The risotto balls with truffle are my new obsession. Our server was awesome and recommended a great wine. Entrees we’re fabulous. Honestly, this place is incredibly priced for the quality of food. Will be back!

Food was good, but the room (which was full) was incredibly loud — much too loud to have a normal conversation across the table. Some sound-absorbing wall hangings or partitions would be a major step forward.

Service and food were good. Portions of the food were good sized, and left us satisfied. If you’ve dined anywhere in Liberty Station before, you should know to expect to fight the sound of the airplanes during conversation in oudoor seating. I can't hold that against the restaurant. Overall a good time and am looking forward to our next visit.

We absolutely loved eating lunch at Solare! We had the mussels, salad, and filet. It was my sister’s birthday, and they brought out a complimentary frozen sorbet with a candle to celebrate. Wonderful people and service! Our only sticking point was the airplanes flying directly overhead (we were sitting outside) but obviously this had NOTHING to do with the restaurant. If you’re near the airport / HTH campus, this is a win.

The food here is beautifully and tastefully prepared. Even though the magazine Edibles says that their focaccia bread is delivered to every table — this is NOT TRUE! There is a $6 tab if you want to order a 6-piece loaf of bread. Focaccia bread is $18. The $6 loaf feels like nickel and diming to me in addition to an untruth in advertising. My sons ordered the osso buco and the tomahawk pork chop. They delivered these items to the wrong son who, thinking the delivery was correct, began the meal before realizing he was eating his brother’s order. 😆 We were seated outdoors on their patio as they had an event inside, so no indoor tables were available. We all agreed we’d go back eventually, but would not sit outdoors again due to the constant and very loud air traffic overhead. This is a Michelin restaurant and the food IS yummy!

The ribs were amazing , the pork sausage was nicely spicy, and the fried chicken was crisp and paired wonderfully with the chutney. A great find for lunch or dinner

What a wonderful evening at Solare's - they put us in the wine room which was intimate and cozy and really made conversation with our out-of-town guests easy! The food was superb, as it is always and having the owner come in and speak with us was another great touch. If you haven't experienced Solare... YOU MUST!

Solare ruined arancini for me, and I say that in the best way possible. We went there (for the first time) for restaurant week. The polenta appetizer was amazing, and the pork osso buco was phenomenal, but seriously those little fried rice balls were the best I’ve ever had. I really cannot recommend this restaurant enough.

Outstanding meal. I’m a regular customer but I’m always impressed with the wonderful meals that we get. We wen for the special Restaurant Week menu. Wow! Polenta with mushrooms and Gorgonzola. The polenta was crispy on the outside and soft and delicious on the inside. The combination of flavors are incredible. For dinner my husband had the duck lasagna, I have the pork Osso Bucco. Both are meals you’ll want to come back and dive into again. The meal was topped off with Pistachio Panna Cotta. I hope this is a regular dessert because I was in love with it and I’m not a dessert person. Thank you Chef and Randy for another meal that was absolutely phenomenal.

Nice venue, good food, but not quite the superb experience we were hoping for. We came on a Monday night during restaurant week and some of the items were great others were just okay. Service was very slow.
