The patio is so lovely and the service is great. Wonderful wine list with many terrific Italian wines. I wish they had more plant based options on the menu but overall a charming restaurant.

The food and ambiance were great, as was the wine, and overall we had a wonderful experience. We had two servers, one of whom was delightful. The other left a little more to be desired: he was pretty negative about some of the menu items including one of the specials we were interested in which was a bit surprising and left us feeling a bit put off. Again other than that, great experience and we’d still go back.

Suggestion for the restaurant: specify indoor or outdoor for the tables rather than “standard” or outdoor. There’s nothing to compare “standard” to if it’s the only option for your time slot. I have dined at Sociale countless times and honestly thought outdoor was standard. It was disappointing to learn that “standard” is defined as “indoor,” while hosting a group for my birthday dinner, with a vision for an outdoor experience.

This restaurant is in a lovely spot - the setting is very warm and intimate (You would never know you are in the middle of the city!). Service was wonderful and the food was excellent. We particularly enjoyed the mushroom bolognese with zucchini noodles. Even though it is vegan and gluten-free, it is hearty and enjoyable; you would never miss the meat or the pasta.

I have enjoyed fabulous food, friendly service & a great experience every time I have been to Sociale with friends and alone !!! I live in the neighborhood, walk to the restaurant for lunch or dinner and everything on the menu is delicious.

My friend and I loved the food! We started with the Fried Olives which tasted great and were not too filling and I had the Seared Scallops which were perfectly cooked and my friend enjoyed her Rigatoni. For dessert I chose the Chocolate Banana Bread Pudding and not only did it look “cute”😄 but it was the best portion of for me. My friend chose the Chocolate Oblivion Cake and she said that although it was more on the heavier side, she thought that the sea salt helped in making it not too bad. Also, in the past, my goddaughter and her husband and I have been to Sociale for birthdays, and we thought that everything that we had ordered had been awesome!

Sociale is my favorite restaurant in San Francisco. Tucked away down an alley on Sacramento St. It feels like a secret. Excellent food, the loveliest staff, attentive, personal service in a charming atmosphere. And not pretentious…just delicious and welcoming. We love it!

We really enjoyed coming here to eat. The ambiance of the restaurant was great and the food was even better. The only thing I wasn’t pleased with was our server. She came across as rude in the way that she spoke to us.

I’ve been a longtime customer and always had a great experience there. But this time there was a new waiter that got my son’s order wrong 3 times! First, although my son made a simple substitution to a pasta dish and asked for marinara rather than what was offered the waiter said no problem but failed to mention that there would be bacon in the sauce—which my son doesn’t eat. So that was sent back. Then the waiter forgot the side of steamed broccoli. Then the waiter never brought his drink. Very frustrating. I love this restaurant and hope it was just an off night.

We have been regular patrons of Sociale for years. Unfortunately it seems that its food has gone downhill. What would make us not return again was its server who consistently tried to grab our plates before we were done. I had requested in the past if he could ask us before grabbing our plates. That did not stop him. It was the most appalling the last time when he reached over my shoulder to grab my tea pot and touching my shoulder, without asking and completely startling me. It might be an attempt to rush us to leave. We were so upset that we quickly left, and in the hurry we probably left an expensive scarf that they later said they could not find. Sadly we will not be returning.

I've been going to Sociale since they first opened and they are consistently great. There is excellent variety on the menu giving you lots of options. The pastas are very good, made with highest quality ingredients, as are the meats and fish. This visit we had salads for a first course. One of us has the veal chop and one the pork chop. Both were great. The dining room is cozy and the outdoor area is, too. There is a private dining room that can accommodate 15-20 people for those special gatherings. Plus, parking is easy and free on Sacramento Street. What more can you ask?

Such good food, great wait staff, particularly appreciated our server's wine suggestion, it was excellent and complemented our meals, we ate inside for the first time and it was very comfortable and pleasant and not too noisy. All good. Highly recommend.

The portions size are relatively on the small side considering the cost . The rabbit pasta with Marsala wine was $36 . Was is something extraordinary? Not at all fir $36 you can get better . Other pasta we ordered was $29 each .Alk the appetizers were$19?$16$18 and very small in size. Barely 3-4 slices of orange & small piece of burrata. .

It was nice to be back year after quite a few years. The vibe is very nice and the Service personal in a nice way. Most of the food was very good, and the pasta special was just next level delicious. The pork special though was overcooked by more than a little.

This is a reliably fine restaurant. In this visit, I especially loved the beet salad, which was enlivened with frisee, almond slivers, and other goodies. The chocolate bread pudding dessert was also great.

We ate out on the patio in the pouring rain: the heater worked quite well but a breeze blew through. Maybe they could do something about that. Expand I or seating? Create an enclosure for patio? Food was good as always. Wine pricy and also tasty.

So many things about Sociale are great. The food, the service, the ambiance! One thing about last night...we felt very rushed. Only minutes after placing our order, the apps came out; and barely as the (cleaned!) empty plates were removed, the main courses arrived. The check landed only a couple of minutes after deciding on no desert. I think our whole dining experience lasted under 50 minutes, which is way too fast for this kind of lovely restaurant. My advice (and reminder for us) is to ask for courses to be spaced out some, or order mains after finishing appetizers. This does not take away from the delicious dishes, etc.
