The Modern Slug and Lettuce Edinburgh is the perfect choice for combining with any occasion. We are located at the top of Leith Walk in the Omni Leisure development centre, conveniently next door to the Playhouse Theatre. At The Slug we pride ourselves on catering for all occasions - a place to relax and take things easy for a coffee or that pre- or post-theatre meal. Amazed to get such a good deal with the after work promotion - 2 sirloin steaks with fries and 2 glasses of wine for £22!

Value for money is good, ingredients missing from cocktails with no one saying anything when bringing to the table which was a bit awkward. Food was fine.

We did eat all the food that came, but it was the wrong food, it took forever and the service was rude and poor. Won't be returning.

Disgusting food ordered the Christmas platter honestly thought it was a mistake and it was Plastic very over cooked the 4 small rolls with it couldn’t even bite into them the staff didn’t even care will definitely not be back thus was at 5.30 before a show goodness knows what the food would be like later in the evening

Food and service were ok. Told to order through app which of course didn’t work so wasted 10 minutes when we were already in a hurry. Music was far too loud - could hardly hear one another!

Restaurant was busy,staff were efficient and friendly , food was okay , disappointed in the lack of choices for dessert. Value for money, fair.

We were really disappointed to be greeted and told they were short staffed and not a lot of food was available. I feel we should have been made aware of this before we attended. The things we wanted to eat were not available, there was no rice! A cheap and simple ingredient. We all had to have burgers as not much else to offer but they did taste very good. The staff were attentive but run ragged. I’m glad we had the app to order the food and drinks. The bar area was filled with dirty glasses and no time to keep on top of them to clean as they made drinks for all. It was a bit on the noisy side for us too.

We met here before the theatre, as did many which was obvious by the mass exodus. Worked well for us. Drinks and food came quickly which was important.

The staff were friendly and polite. The food was dreadful! The starter and main course dishes arrived together. This meant we had to hurriedly eat the starters before the main dishes got cold. Steak full of grizzle. Smothered chicken dried with blackened bacon on top. Chips served with blemishes, mushrooms shrivelled, peas hard, pea shoots wilted and onion rings so over cooked they were desiccated. Not a pleasant eating experience.

Could not access app therefore had to go to counter for drinks, (and pay in advance), mocktails, which were brought to the table and did not look anything like a cocktail!! Shame when youngster was excited about getting one. On second try, up I went to order 2 different ones, this time they were made whilst I waited so I had to carry them to the table. Food was ordered at the counter, once again, and paid for in advance. It was fine. Overall I was very disappointed as I felt the whole experience was totally disjointed.

The location is great for places like edinburgh playhouse Parking easily available within Omni at q park The menu is dominated by food to share - and drink to share also eg gin trees as well as a range of stands line starters and main courses etc The food is okay- slightly disappointed by the portion sizes The two courses we had were fine but not special Overall a good convenient place at a reasonable price

Pretheatre family meal. We chose a sharing platter and dine starters to share. Tasty, plentiful and well presented. Great service and nice surroundings. Nothing not to like! 5 stars
