Silver Dove Afternoon Tea is a full service tearoom in Downtown Boston specializing in English style afternoon tea service. Steps from Government Center and the Freedom Trail, an experience at Silver Dove includes a pot of tea and a curated selection of finger foods. The food is a set menu and fixed price consisting of a variety of finger sandwiches, savory canapés, cakes, scones, macarons and other pastries which rotate seasonally.

We offer 90 minute reservations for afternoon tea Wednesday through Sunday. Reservations are available up to six weeks in advance. We can accommodate parties of up to six guests on weekends, and parties of up to twelve guests Wednesday through Friday.

We serve a wide selection of teas and herbal infusions from around the world and of various styles. We also provide a selection of craft cocktails and mocktails, as well as sparkling and still wines.

Our kitchen is completely gluten free (and oat free). We are independently owned and operated.

Their entire menu is gluten free, so I don't have to worry about making sure what I get is safe for me to eat! They are able to make allowances for other dietary restrictions as well and their practice is to ask at the table, making it easy for diners to communicate their needs. Their tea list includes interesting and quality teas, and the food tastes wonderful!

Silver dove was lovely for afternoon tea. The savory dishes were incredible and the sweet treats were a delight! I loved that I could try both iced and hot teas- loved both! We can’t wait to go back to try the next seasonal menu.

The food and tea is good, as well as the service. One imperfection is that we were not noticed when made the reservation that there is a time limit for our seat….

The staff was very kind, welcoming, and informative as well! They can describe the flavor of each tea in depth for you, and I think I even heard a server tell a woman from which regions certain teas are from. The staff is also incredibly mindful of allergens. The entire menu is gluten-free, and they will ask if you have any allergies they should know about. The servers will also tell you upon request what food has what allergen if able, and as someone who does have allergies, I've never felt more cared for. The establishment is very small. So the tables are very close together. Mindful chatter is completely fine, but you most definitely will hear any guests not being considerate of their volume. It would be a lovely spot to read a book or maybe write something up. For the Afternoon Tea service, you receive all the sweet and savory items on the written menu and one pot of tea. (I had the white peach tea. It was naturally sweet and did not need sugar.) I've seen some reviews complaining that the breads and crackers are dry. (They are admittedly on the crumbly/stale-feeling side, but I think it's because they're gluten-free.) I think the dryness actually works for the tea service because it makes you want to drink the tea even more. People have also stated that, for the portion sizes, the Afternoon Tea service is overpriced, ($48). Each savory and sweet bite is small but come in a variety of uniquely delicate flavors. If you're looking for an experience, I definitely recommend this, but if you're looking to get full, perhaps you should search elsewhere. I'll most definitely be making a return!

Not something I would seek out again. This is a cute little space, and everyone was nice enough. It was cute but small and I have to say we contributed to the noise with a group of seven. Before long, everyone was shouting to make themselves heard. The food was fine for what it was, and everything was nicely made. I just don’t think I’m a fan of small sandwiches with lots of mayo and cream cheese. The small scones were dense and a little doughy. The pleasure to calorie ratio was way off for me.

My mother and I came to celebrate Mother's day and it was simply perfect. Such an adorable place, the food was amazing, they tea was incredible and the service was fantastic. It's a must for everyone!

Pleasant ambiance and good food, with attentive staff. I wish the tea were better prepared - dosing and water temperature were a bit off.
