Honestly amazing experience going here for brunch. Staff was so kind and attentive, the chicken was PHENOMENAL and the brunch vibes were so fun.

Place was empty, it took 20 mins to get our drinks after we had ordered them, then the manager says some of her staff left early today, but the place was empty. It almost felt like they were purposely not making our drinks

We ordered the rotisserie chicken with the sauce flight and it was incredible! We also loved the cucumber starter and the rotisserie cauliflower.

Had a reservation but still waited 30 minutes for a table of two. Disappointing ^^ Editing this review to say that the restaurant followed up with me and more than made up for that experience. I was in touch with Eli the owner and he was incredibly generous and thoughtful in ensuring my next experience was memorable. This is a restaurant that TRULY cares about its customers and their experience and I have to say the food is extremely elevated and delicious. The chicken is crispy and juicy and the sauces are mouth watering. Everything else I had was amazing- the chicken wings, the spring bowl, the fries with a special shout-out for the crushed cucumbers which I loved. The cookies are so soft and tasty as well. This is a great business that has good values and strong leadership as well as delicious food. I will be back no doubt.

Great food, attentive and kind service. Love the ambiance. We never felt rushed to leave even though we stayed 3.5 hours for dinner.

this was such a fantastic choice for an early anniversary dinner with my girlfriend. we truly had such an amazing time and the food was perfect. the mushroom tart was to die for and the chicken and fries were also notable, but the strawberry shortcake was out of this world

Our first experience and definitely not our last. Really good atmosphere, casual but not pubby. Drink menu was creative and full of variety, with the cocktails all exceptional! Starters provided great shared options and perhaps a one of a kind in their Ortiz Sardines in a can with delicious fennel, radish and greens on toast points. Moving to the entrees, the bowls and grains options were plentiful, literally and figuratively, making for a nice bridge to the full rotisserie chicken which was shared and ample for our entire table. From entry to end, service was welcoming, attentive, timely and delightful. Staff and management ensured that expectations were met, and as we expressed, in our experience - exceeded! Shy Bird and the entire block in which it is located is the ideal location for singles, dates and/or families. A must visit when in Boston or for those living in Southie!

Shy Bird of South Boston is fabulous! The lovely host was welcoming and sat us right away in very comfortable booth seating. Our waiter was attentive and friendly. We had brunch and enjoyed the food very much, very tasty and served quickly . The coffee and drinks were also excellent. Definitely recommend!

Shy Bird is such a terrific addition to our neighborhood in Southie. I have been there many times, and intend to go back often! The menu and coffee are both delicious . The soup, sandwiches and salads are outstanding. And, I cannot say enough about the management and staff. Each member of the team is friendly, helpful, and professional. Thank you Shy Bird! Went here to catch up with some friends over brunch - it was great! Food was good and the restaurant looked nice. They let us hang out well after our check was paid AND they continued serving us water, even after we had already closed out. As a fellow server, I know what it’s like to want a table to leave after they’ve cashed out, but I didn’t feel this way at all. Great experience and I will definitely be back!

We were a big group of 8. Shared cinnamon buns (delicious), snacking bites of chicken (with a flight of sauce, we only really liked the ranch) also delicious. Chicken and waffles had a little too much sauce on them for the person liking, the chicken and the waffle are both delicious and don’t need that much sauce. 4 of us ordered the chicken ranch sandwiches.. very good all around. The only complaint was the half roasted chicken. Oddly, it had what seemed like a vein in it and it “bled” which turned off the person eating it and pretty much all of us. We didn’t mention it to the waiter, just covered it up and shared food among the group. Overall, very good and can’t wait to return, our server was awesome and very friendly

Service was amazing from wait staff, hosts, and management! The food was great the SB dunks with ranch are a must, and the broccolini was fresh and flavorful! The cloud nine was a interesting and creative mocktail. Also desert is very underrated- the brownie was fantastic.

The Shybird free lunch was really good; the service was attentive and the food, as always, was excellent. My friends and I enjoyed the opportunity to work on projects and have a good meal all at once. I only wish I had known to ask for a regular table as we were seated on high tops but this was quickly resolved. I often come to Shybird and will continue to do so whether the meal is free or not!

Hey there! So, I recently went to this restaurant with a bunch of friends and let me tell you, it was absolutely amazing! The food was delicious, the service was top-notch, and the atmosphere was just perfect for a fun night out with friends. Was seated right away for a 6:30 reservation but no waiter or anyone came to the table until we flagged down the host at 6:50 to get water and order drinks. Food was good and came quickly but again when we went to pay it took another 20min for the waiter to come get the check so service definitely left something to be desired

Food was excellent as always. I live down the street from the Cambridge location and when I got the email about work from the one in South Boston, I assumed (my bad) it was less restaurant and more co-working space. Maybe just me but the promotion came across that way. I'll come back but now I know I'll not really have the room to do more than have my laptop out, and even then when there's food and I'm seated at the bar (the hostess nicely gave me a small table instead) there's not enough room to do my regular work. Also very noisy, but again, now they I understand it's really just a restaurant, I'll be informed for next time.

Shy Bird in Southie is a great neighborhood lunch and dinner spot. The food is excellent (Umami Bowl is my fav with outstanding ingredients and flavors)! The service is excellent. Everyone from the manager to the wait staff to the bartender are all professional, friendly and warm — and consistently so. You can't go wrong at this place. Oh, and Castle Island Brewery is right next door. Win win.
