An all-day neighborhood cafe, rotisserie, and bar offering breakfast, lunch, dinner, and brunch. We are located in the heart of Kendall Square in Cambridge, at the corner of Third and Broadway. We are best known for our rotisserie chicken, SB Dunks, vegetarian/vegan/gluten free options in addition to elevated coffee, an approachable and adventurous wine list, great beer, and classic/fun cocktails.

The food was amazing but our server was terrible. He didn’t introduce himself, he was not attentive and we waited 15-20 mins for our bill which caused a bad experience. I wish I was a better experience because the food was great but the service really hindered it all.

Everything was amazing from my first french fry to the last bite of my brownie sundae. We sat outside and the atmosphere was lovely. I enjoyed my cocktail, very tasty, right away; the service was attentive and quick. The burger was to die for. I am excited to come back here.

Came for an early Brunch - all but empty at 845 Sat. Helpful friendly staff. Eclectic diverse customers. Food was pretty good, hearty servings, but rather ordinary. Definitely good for a meal if you are nearby.

Great food. I love their dunks and rotisserie chicken. The cauliflower and cucumbers are also excellent. There are really friendly servers and a fun ambiance.

Great location, food was good. Wait staff seemed a bit spacey-we waited a good 20 minutes before we someone came to our table-wait staff would be conversing with each other and then the patrons would be like an after thought sort of like "oh yeah! i forgot about them!" they were friendly though!

All I can say is that the half bird chicken is excellent. The seasoning on the skin is fantastic and the meat is so tender. I love it and I get it every time. There's also a wide selection of cocktails and drinks which I appreciate.

3 former work colleagues met late afternoon to catch up socially. Excellent service, good all good and as ordered. Space is noisy but no music to shout over which is good. Would go back.

Our favorite restaurant in town when we are looking for a quick/yummy meal. Everything on the menu is amazing.....fries and dunks in particular are just ridiculous. Service is top notch, some of the best staff around.

Shy Bird is conveniently near a T stop and has good atmosphere. We were a bit early to our reservation so we awkwardly waited off to the side of the host's stand, putting us in the way of other people coming in. We were soon seated, and after maybe 2 minutes, our server came with water and asked if we were ready to put in a drink order. We weren't, so we asked for a couple minutes to think. About 10 minutes later, the server finally returns and we order the pretzel starter to share, I got a smash burger, my boyfriend got the chicken sandwich. We waited what felt like 20 minutes for our food; the starter we ordered came with our meals, defeating the point of being a "starter". The food wasn't anything to rave about. Boyfriend's chicken sandwich was described as "sad." My burger was super greasy and had diner food vibes, which matched the plastic water cups we had that you'd find in diners. I wanted to ask for extra napkins but our server never came back to our table to check in with us. After we finished eating, when the server came by, we asked for the check (as we also had an event to get to shortly). When our server brought the check, we just gave our credit card, didn't even look at the bill. In the end, one starter and two handhelds was $50 plus tip. Not worth it in our opinion. (The pretzels we got were Eastern Standard Provisions Co., which you can find in Whole Foods for $7 and six pretzels. At Shy Bird, it was $9.75 for three pretzels, plus the honey mustard and queso dip. Do with that information as you wish.)

Let me tell you several things about my recent experience at Shy Bird. I booked it hoping for heated outdoor seating as they’d had in the past, but when I arrived, they’d done away with that option. The host instead rerouted me; polite to my quiet unease, to the open-air back of the restaurant where ventilation was better and an exit nearby. I felt seen and heard without having to say or do anything specific. Then as I waited for friends, our server swung by and made sure I had a coffee while I hung around. She was friendly and attentive and always on the ball. As always, the food was generous and flavorful. It was a wonderful experience overall and everyone enjoyed their time there. Will absolutely be back!

Great food. Only issue was that how cold it got everytime the front door was open. There is another entrance that seems like it would be better to use to cut down on that chill.

Four of us had dinner at the Kendall Square location on a Saturday evening and we all really enjoyed our meal here. The service was good and the dining room has a good energy. The food was great. I had the 1/2 roast chicken and fries which was spot-on. My wife had one of the vegetarian bowls and it was fantastic. We really appreciate restaurants that offer vegetarian options that are not just afterthoughts. The restaurant clearly put a lot of thought into putting together a really delicious bowl. Our friends enjoyed their meals as well. Looking forward to returning.

Tables are abit too tight together- difficult to get in and out. Couple next to us were quite loud. Better when that table turned over.

They sat us in the lobby of an office building and told us they couldn’t move us because they had other reservations. We had a reservation and there were a bunch of tables for two open why could they not put the next reservation in our table? It made no sense and I am a former hostess at a fine dining restaurant. The waitress/kitchen brought my order out wrong twice. We also got raw chicken at the south boston location and decided to give this location a try. Disappointed once again by shy bird and we really wanted to like it. Also very very loud even in lobby area.

With a larger group, the service was incredibly slow and we had to beg to be taken care of. The food was good, most folks enjoyed their meal, but getting any drinks to the table took far too long. As long as you have the time to relax it’s okay, but the manager could be more helpful and check on the tables as well

Loved brunch at Shy Bird. Terrific menu. Staff was incredibly courteous and patient. My wife said “everything about my meal was really good”. My sole critique is that my Bloody Mary was served in a glass fresh out of the dishwasher so the first sip was warmed by the glass. Other than that, couldn’t have been more pleased with the food, atmosphere or friendly service.

What a fun place for New Year's Eve. Incredible service from everyone especially our lovable wait person with an exquisite sense of timing and good nature. Our food was yummy--chicken bites we ordered and then ordered again-- pork stakes and poke bowls and of course, rotisserie chicken. Everything was yummy!

I decided to try Shy Bird in Kendall Square as it was a convenient location for visiting friends. We sat in the rear and it seemed like this extension was in the lobby of a Hotel I could have been an airport. The food was awful. Fries were cold and tasteless and my chicken sandwich was served on a soggy bun and chicken seemed like it was reheated after being fried. I have gone to the South Boston location 4 times already and food and service at that location was excellent. Aside from the menu I am surprised that this was actually the same restaurant. Service was not great I cannot see how a place like this can survive. There are so many good easting establishments in Cambridge.
