It is not the Shun Lee I remember from a decade ago. The dumplings were doughy, the food was bland, and the hoisin sauce tasted burnt. I went in remembrance of good times spent there with my Mom, but I won’t be going back.

Place doesn’t care whether you come to dine or not. They throw things at you and food was tasteless. They are many other chines e restaurants with better food and less expensive. Also ambiance is dark and gloomy

This is a wonderfull restaurant in which to enjoy a great meal in a soothing atmosphere. Thestaff are attentive and helpful. I would happily come again

Excellent food, Service & atmosphere. My family shared the shrimp balls, sweet & sour chicken, prawns, shrimp fried rice & Shanghai Spring rolls. Perfect Sunday afternoon meal.

I made and confirmed a reservation at Shun Lee Cafe which is adjacent to the Sun Lee West Restaurant. When we arrived the Cafe door was locked. We entered the main Shun Lee restaurant and were told that the cafe is only open Friday-Sunday. I showed the receptionist my confirmed Open Table reservation and she mumbled something about recently they closed the Cafe during the week. As we were going to Lincoln Center we agreed to be seated in the Restaurant although the primary reason we were going was to eat Dim Sum in the Cafe. The main menu is pricey and we really weren’t excited about the options. However we reluctantly ordered as we felt we had no choice. For a restaurant of this standing this was unacceptable.

SAD... I've been going to Shun Lee almost all my adult life in NYC We'd go before the Philharmonic and sit in the now aged pit - we'd go after theater to the Cafe for some quick Dim Sum and martinis. I took my spouse when we met because if he didn't like it life may not work out - it was a rite of passage for all nieces and nephews visiting NYC. I've been hundreds of time - and last week felt like my funeral there - while the soup was still good - the energy is GONE - at 6pm the cafe was BORING and no need to pay the now EXORBITANT almost $50 for 7 pc of crispy beef (which was still good - but NOT the same) the service is SURLY - they are not as nice - no one recognizes you - greets you well - the rugs are TIRED and opening the cafe from the restaurant makes it COLD as there is no vestibule - finally we used to be sat wherever we liked now they shuffle you to some spot while the spot you wanted sits empty - everything changes - bt seriously even the fortune cookies are the smallest you've ever seen (really?) - time to make new memories. New owners - you screwed up. And it looks like you are in a death loop now - how can you recover? Call the old management. Immediately.

We had planned on Dim Sum in the Cafe. When we arrived we were told that the Cafe was closed that evening and we would be seated in the main dining room. Consequently all that was available was the main dining room menu -- considerably more expensive than the Cafe. As we had Lincoln Center tickets that evening it was too late to leave. This was a classic bait and switch!

A RAT RAN THROUGH THE DINING ROOM during our meal. Imagine how many rats are in the kitchen. We told the waiters but they didn’t care so there must have seen rats before. DON’T EAT THERE.

Shadow of its former self. Service poor but more importantly menu change has eliminated dim sum in cafe and some favorites. Food came same time as drinks and one cocktail became a second Diet Coke in part because of language skills if server. Food was decent. It was quiet, facilitating conversation but quiet was due to fact that cafe was very empty. Sad since it was a pre-theatre on a Friday night!

While the cuisine is fresh and well-prepared, the service is sorely lacking. My waiter seemed quite annoyed to have to take an order. After the appetizer was served, no one returned for more than 15 min to take an entree order. Finally, the waiter breezed by with "Everything all right?" and seemed shocked when I asked him to take the rest of the order, even though the menu still lay on the table. A request for a modification of a dish was not fully honored. Upon waiting 20 minutes for a drink, I asked if I could expect it soon or should cancel the request. Without a word of apology, the waiter returned in 2 minutes and slapped a bill on my table. I asked why I was being presented with the bill, and the reply was: "You cancel. Here is bill!" I said that I had simply asked if I should withdraw the drink request or make a different selection. "Busy here!" was the exasperated and ingracious reply. The restaurant is busy enough that they can afford to lose any single patron's business, and they have lost mine, after many years.

We were a party of 7, with one person arriving late. The service was careful and attentive, and our late-arriving guest was treated well, and promptly. The room was full, but lots of good people who weren't screaming...we commented that it was the first time we had been in a restaurant for ages where we weren't assaulted to too much music and talk. The drinks--sidecars for two of us--weren't cold enough, and there was no sparkle in the champagne. Tasty, but not great for the price. We had shredded chicken, dumplings of various sorts, a shellfish dish, a beef dish, and other chicken dishes....everyone was happy and ate heartily. The location was important to us, since we had just come out of the NYCity Ballet performance, so although there may be other Chinese restaurants in NY that could be better, they're not at Lincoln Center! All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit...good food, good location, good company, good wait staff which was flexible. Highly recommend!

This was an unfortunate experience. Food was decent. We asked for a well lit table to accomodate for my husband's low vision particularly in dim speaces. The restaurant would not accomodate that despite having a well lit table available. Then when their refusal to make a reasonable accomodation turned into a low tip (still $35) thy had the audacity to question the tip. Too bad. The room is also super cold - we had to keep our jackets on much of the time. Food was good enough for us to come back - but we will not be making a return trip.

Past its prime. Shun Lee used to be a great choice for dim sum near Lincoln Center. Although they still have their dim sum menu on Open Table they don't offer it anymore in the Cafe. I asked and heard other diners asking about the dim sum cart. We were just told "they don't do it anymore." Two of my wine choices on their menu were not available. Staff is not attentive did not refill water or bring soy sauce even though we asked. Convenient to Lincoln Center but not worth another visit.

We had a reservation at Shun Lee Cafe which was confirmed. When we arrived we were told the cafe was closed for a private party and we were booked in the main restaurant. We were told the food was the same which we know is not the case. There is more dim sum and an informal menu at the cafe and it tends to be cheaper. The main restaurant food and wine were good but really overpriced, slow to come and under spiced. Wine by the glass was good, but not a good pour for the price. I will definitely think twice before booking here again. Which is sad for a spot that used to be a go-to near Lincoln Center.

It's a dump. We left because: we were ignored and never saw a server and it was incredibly loud (they seated the world's worst kids next to us) and the prices were expensive. This restaurant used to be important to us. Now it is a nightmare.

Soup dumplings, veggie springrolls, crispy shrimp balls were all excellent. The moo shu pork was not the best rendition; i recall the veggies being chopped or shredded more finely in past trips. And, on Saturday nights, I guess the carts don't roll with varied dim sum to pick from. Probably good for the diners (one doesn't over order!), but not as interactive an experience. Also, a little pricey.

were originally reserved 5:45 at the Shun Lee Cafe with it's dimsum carts as well as Chinese dishes available but last night at 5:45 there were people working and no dimsum cart service nor were they any diners in the whole restaurant. Also it was cold so we were diverted to the main restaurant which had a much more expensive menu than we saw on line. What is going on with the Cafe???

The food was excellent, with the exception of soup that was lukewarm - but quickly heated up by server. The restaurant could use some sprucing up - it is attractive, but tired. The prices, given the modest serving sizes, are very high even by today's standards.

Shrimp dumplings are great. We had a lot of different things. Portions are smaller than in the past, and the lo mein noodles are different than in the past. Was one of my favorite places to have chinese food in the neighborhood. It's still good, the servers are nice, the room is clean and still inviting. Those are positive reasons. And the shrimp dumplings do not disappoint.

We made a reservation in the Cafe, expecting to order Dim Sum as is clearly indicated on the Shun Lee website. We arrived and were seated in the cafe (which was chilly and nearly empty). and a waiter handed us menus for the regular dining room. We asked about Dim Sum and they said they didn’t do that anymore, so we asked to move to the main room and we were accommodated. We had a nice meal though the service and overall experience is not as we all remembered Shun Lee “back in the day.” It’s a solid Chinese restaurant, but service is so-so and the cost is way above what it’s worth.

Big restaurant...didnt even have gluten free soy or teriaky sause ...couldnt make any dish gluten free. And vegan exept fried rice with peas and carrots for $25.00 ..had to order ...

My pan fried noodles with seafood was so completely bland I had to douse it with soy sauce. The portion was half the size of when I previously had it and worst of all, as soon as I finished eating, I got a headache and felt dizzy. MSG?? My friend's lemon chicken was good.

Food excellent. Table quiet, pleasant decor. Though not busy when we were there, the waiter did tend to disappear (we were seated around the corner from the area where the register is). Food came reasonably quickly but couldn't find him when needed to ask for something. A bit expensive compared to excellent Chinese restaurant like Tri Dim Shanghai uptown but fair for the Lincoln Center area.

Shun Lee has gone downhill. Food not that good. Also made reservation for cafe which was confirmed by open table. When we got there it was closed and apparently has been for a while. Happened once before but because reservations confirmed still went. Host said that it was open table responsibility which I found odd. I do not recommend this restaurant. Very disappointing as dim sum in cafe was excellent and reason we ate there.

We reserved on open table for the shin lee cafe and we’re not told that the cafe was not available that night until we arrived at the restaurant. You should adjust your website to reflect when it is available before booking reservations there.
