The Shula's Story
Established in 1989, Shula's Steak House started with one goal in mind - to carry on the legacy of Coach Don Shula, one of the greatest coaches in NFL history. 30 years later, we've taken that goal and run with it. We're proud to offer the highest quality steaks, fresh-caught seafood, and tantalizing sides.

When Coach Don Shula opened the first Shula's Steak House in 1989, he took his winning formula to a whole new level. He wanted to provide the highest quality steaks in a warm, inviting setting. There's an ethos to excellence - it doesn't matter if you're coaching an undefeated football team, or grilling up a porterhouse - we make sure we live by it.

Our waiter was fantastic. Very attentive service and his wine suggestion was excellent. We really enjoyed our meal. Great experience. Food was outstanding.

Drinks, wine, steaks were great. One of the apps we ordered was calamari, it was terrible and undercooked. We should gave sent it back but we just picked at it instead. Desserts were super also.

We chose Shula’s to celebrate my daughter’s graduation. We last went to the locations in Miami Lakes and Fort Lauderdale and both times the experience and food was great. This Shula’s was meh…. The 7 oz filet was good but I went with the peppercorn topping and that was a mistake…..too much salt in the mix ruined the flavor. My fault as I should not have ordered the topping. Two at the table ordered the 16 oz ribeye. A little too much fat and the cut looked more like a slice of prime rib than a ribeye. Recommend cutting the ribeye thicker to preserve the flavor and allow a medium temp to retain the pink color a bit better. The cut was just too thin. One of the ribeyes also had the blue cheese topping and the person who ordered it felt it was a bit too much and too strong of a flavor for how the meat was cut. The sea bass was great but just too many capers in the topping. It’s a delicate fish so the sauce should be mild not overpowering. The scallops were slightly overcooked. I would have sent them back but fortunately the person who ordered this dish prefers her scallops a bit on the firmer side. She used some of the excess capers from the sea bass dish to “improve” the overcooked flavor. The mushroom and brussel sprout sides were great as were the appetizers. The place was not crowded at all, only 5 tables in use and although our drinks and appetizers came well timed the main meal took quite a bit longer with no feedback from the server. When we finally asked we were told it would be just “3 mins longer’ but ended up waiting another 10 mins. The tables around us that arrived after us received their dishes sooner so not sure what was going on. Our impression is insufficient kitchen staff or some poor communication and work order management in the kitchen. The price paid and the experience/food makes this a less likely choice in future visits. Although I am not a big fan, for the same price, Mark’s Prime in downtown Gainesville may be a better choice.

This was super disappointing. We were celebrating my graduation from UF with my doctorate so a fancy and nice steakhouse is what we expected. What we got was far from it. First we ordered the calamari and shrimp cocktail, both tasted frozen and many of my guests wouldn’t even finish them. We told the server and she was apologetic and nice. Unfortunately not her fault but a poor first impression. Then our steaks came out and with high hopes we cut into them and mine (ordered medium rare) was well done with no color. My dad’s (ordered medium rare) was more medium well. I sent mine back but then they gave me a raw steak. On the third and final attempt they got it ok. The taste wasn’t amazing. For a 50$ steak I would expect better. I’ve had better food at Texas Roadhouse. I actually did the next day for mother’s day and we all had perfect steaks. My aunt ordered the salmon, which also tasted frozen and not fresh. Just overall super disappointing. A night I have been dreaming of for 8 years ended up super lack luster because of poor quality in food and broken expectations. I would not recommend this place it is way too expensive for the quality we experienced.

The food amazing, service was ok but the crew was rushing to finish and close the restaurant. The ambiance was not good, the restaurante is in a Old Hilton Hotel and look very cheap. We were the only guests at 8h30 pm in peak graduation seasson. Just recommended for the food.

Everything was amazing!! Beautiful restaurant!!! Delicious food!!!! Ice cold draft beer!!!!! Our server Kurt was fantastic!!!!! Excellent server with a wonderful, fun personality!!!!! Couldn’t have asked for a better experience for our son’s graduation dinner!!!!!!

The New York strip was excellent. The salmon was moderately overcooked. Our waiter was excellent, and the environment and fixtures were excellent.
