Standing high above the city on the 10th floor of the City Club Apartments, at 309 Vine Street; resurrected from the history that has stood here before our time, Shires' Rooftop is inspired by the first amusement resort in this part of the country, Shires' Garden. Though the original Shires' Gardens burned to the ground, "in a most picturesque fire," the legacy that was left behind is everlasting and an integral part of the Queen City's history. The creation of the Matinee Performance, the regal guests Shires' hosted, an unsolved murder and other noteworthy events that took place at the original Shires' Gardens, are an inspiration to our program that we look forward to sharing with you.

I am a vegan so this may be bias as far as the food. The one vegan options was terrible. They grilled some veggies and threw some bbq sauce on them (don’t know if it really was bbq sauce). My girlfriend ordered a salad with shrimp and I had the garden grove. Both very simple dishes. The food took at least 30 minutes to arrive. I had to ask the waitress for everything. She wasn’t proactive at all. The atmosphere just wasn’t there. Decor is subpar at best, and the price was outrages. The Garden Grove (nothing but veggies), Caesar Salad with Shrimp, 1 Sangria, 2 Frozen Rose, and Fried green tomatoes that had no seasoning was $117. I do not recommend.

Wonderful experience at this rooftop restaurant. I went here last weekend with my wife. The ambiance was really nice, food was delicious and perfect temperature. We had a couple drinks that were made really well. Will definitely be coming back next date night.

Shire’s Rooftop in Cincinnati is a great place to eat and view the city. Plenty of shade in the late afternoon. The short rib with carrots was great! They have a great wine list also.

Took my mom here for a late Mother’s Day brunch. We weren’t greeted for about 10 mins after we sat down, which we brushed off as no big deal. When we were greeted we ordered drinks. Our server recommended a mocktail to my mom, which she agreed to try. 15 mins went by with no communication or drinks. Our server then returned to our table as if she had never been there at all and attempted to recall our drink orders. She was super confused when my mom tried to explain to her what she ordered. It was bizarre considering she went out of her way to recommend the drink. Another TWENTY minutes goes by with no drinks or communication from any of the staff. We finally get our drinks and order. There were several other instances of miscommunication between the staff that we brushed off but it was clear they did not work well together. The food was decent but not great. We were checked on once more as soon as we got our food and then didn’t see our server again until we asked for the check. I really wanted to enjoy this place because the ambiance is great and so are the views. I’ve been in the service industry for years so I understand forgetting things, long ticket times that are out of your control, etc. but the lack of communication was super disappointing. Edit: My card was charged for an amount significantly higher than what I paid at the restaurant. Called several times with no answer so now I have to dispute the charge. Safe to say I won’t be returning

We reserved our table over a month in advance. This was for my birthday celebration. we got there 10 minutes early and requested to sit outside on the terrace but we’re told that there was no room available because there were large groups coming. You cannot reserve the terrace specifically, but you can request it. We were disappointed they gave us a window location. I went outside to look at the terrace and saw many vacant seats available. This was perplexing to me since it’s first come first serve. This was a negative strike right out of the gate. We ordered the pair appetizer and I had their signature scallops. Our daughter had the mac & cheese.. and my wife had the burger. The burger was just OK with the fries nothing special but it was over $20. The scallops were over $40 and also nothing special. Her daughter liked mac & cheese. She loved her meal. Our server was slow and she wasn’t very cheerful. We were disappointed it wasn’t exceptional. I don’t foresee us going back anytime soon if ever.

This was my 4th visit to this restaurant and the experience was about the same. I had the crab cakes, shrimp appetizer and the filet. The crab cakes were ok. I wish they were larger and lump meat, for the price. The shrimp was good, just wish there were a few more. I asked for my filet to be filleted, medium well. It was filleted, but burnt. Even the asparagus was burnt. They remade it, but it was still burnt and not filleted. I really wanted to give the service 3 stars instead of 4, but there was a gentleman host, who was super welcoming and friendly, but the female hostess was not so much. I watched her greet the couple before I with much enthusiasm, but we did not get the same in return. Our waitress wasn’t horrible , but she was just very dry and short with us. I really like this location, I just wish there was more consistency with the service.

Great experience as always. We sat outside in the only shade spot left. We couldn’t understand why the other umbrellas weren’t up or that the set up of tables were reconfigured for more shade. Others were asking for the shade in the rooftop. They food and service was excellent!
