Located in the idyllic seaside community of Carmel, Shearwater features breakfast and dinner within the Carmel Mission Inn. Our dinner menu has a selection of smaller plates to share along with some larger individual plates.
We have partnered with a local dairy, coffee roaster, honey purveyor and bakery. Our menu is New American with some spices and ingredients from around the world. Our cocktail program features beautiful classic and specialty cocktails along with craft beer and California wines.

A hidden gem in Carmel. Hopefully soon to be well known, but we as locals were lucky. The Piri Piri Prawns were exceptional ,beautiful produce and the Parker House rolls should be legendary. Lovely wine list. We'll be back soon!

Went for Easter brunch even though we were not staying at the adjacent hotel. Our waitress was attentive and very helpful. Food was excellent and delightfully presented. We also thought the prices were extremely reasonable. It’s a new place for us to go and now I can wait to try it for dinner

The skirt steak with chimichuri seasoning was fantastic. Delicious and flavorful. My guest had the hamburger with chimichuri seasoning and claimed it was the best ever! Service was great. Atmosphere was dated but clean and comfortable.

Excellent food and service! Great happy hour and a nice casual spot to hang out. Highly recommend the appetizers- you cannot go wrong with any of them!

Gem of a hidden restaurant. Yes it is in a boutique hotel with $$ moderate prices. Great caring service. Small but delicious menu. Name is tavern but only one burger on menue and great variety of other choices. Good wine menus. Good choices beer. Great choice cocktails and spirits. I had a great arugula salad and short ribs t pasta. My wife had a perfectly cooked steak. We will be back. Another perk they have a locals menue!

Food was delicious and staff were very accommodating. They allowed us to sit and chat and we never felt rushed. We all enjoyed a wonderful breakfast. We’ll be back to try their dinner menu soon.

My elderly dad and sister had Thanksgiving dinner at the Tavern. They really enjoyed it. They said the service was friendly and the food was great. I'm looking forward to trying out the tavern the next time I visit Carmel.
