Shaya est un restaurant innovant qui adopte une approche chaleureuse et accueillante à la culture gastronomique inspirée des origines israélienne du chef Alon Shaya. Le chef Alon considère la cuisine israélienne moderne comme une grande mosaïque, influencée par l'Afrique du Nord, le Moyen-Orient, l'Europe de l'Est, la Turquie et la Grèce. Le menu de Shaya reflète l'évolution constante de la nourriture israélienne, tout en célébrant l'abondance de la Louisiane et les relations étroites d'Alon avec les agriculteurs locaux, qu'il favorise par son travail constant auprès du Crescent City Farmer's Market. Conformément à la philosophie de l'ensemble des restaurants du groupe Besh, Shaya utilise des produits de saison locaux et issus de culture responsable. Tout comme pour les autres restaurants du chef Alon à la Nouvelle-Orléans, l'utilisation du four à bois est au cœur du menu et de l'expérience culinaire chez Shaya, qui débute immanquablement par un panier de pita maison cuit au feu de bois. La plupart des plats qui figurent sur le menu sont destinés à être partagés. Vous pourrez y déguster des plats traditionnels du Moyen-Orient tels que les falafels, les kebabs et le baba ganoush.

This was our first visit to Shaya and we had our 5 year old with us. They were incredibly kind and patient with her which meant so much to us. Our food and drinks were absolutely fantastic and we can't wait to get back!

Love Shaya restaurant, all aspects. Can't wait to go back. Open Table reservation system leave much to be desired. There always seems to have more reservation availabilities than Open Table indicates. Calling the restaurant directly, if able, allows for more dining opportunities. Open Table also drives the patron to other restaurants, if the desired time is not available. I pick an establishment for a reason not for a seating time. Open Table, quit suggesting a different location and give me more options where I choose to eat.

The food and service were outstanding. We have been to Shaya many times. During this visit, we were a table of 6. We arrived for our reservation and were walked past two 6 tops to a table directly across from the men’s bathroom. This really was not a place I would seat anyone much less repeat guests. Though the food and service were amazing, this really put a damper on the night as the restroom door was almost constantly open. This is not a place where you want to be eating. On a side note, one of the 6 tops the hostess walked us past sat empty for about an hour and then 3 people were seated there. We will be back but I will be SURE to request not to be seated outside of the restroom.

Great meal served by professional, attentive friendly staff. We shared a selection of salatim, hummus and small plates. Highly recommended the lamb ragu hummus.

If you want Mediterranean food that will make you think that all other Mediterranean restaurants (outside of countries that are on the Mediterranean Sea), serve inferior food, eat at Shaya. Go there, only try their hummus, and you will have to stop yourself from causing a scene, it is so good. My wife doesn't eat meat, and she still split the Sujuk Pide with me (an Armenian spiced meat "pizza" for lack of a better way to describe it). You will not be disappointed.

Another fantastic meal at Shaya. This was our 2nd visit to Shaya and it lived up to the memories and experience of our first visit. We ordered 3 of the starter plates and two small plates; the cauliflower and the fried chicken hummus. Both were knock-your-socks-off good. Drinks are great but that fresh pita from the wood-fired oven.... We were lucky enough to have gotten all 5 of our pitas straight from the oven. They would burn your hands from the steam when you tore them open...that's how fresh they were. If you've never had fresh pita like this then you MUST go to Shaya.

This restaurant is consistently excellent. Don’t miss the fried chicken and cauliflower hummus. The halloumi with strawberries is excellent. Great salad options too. Our server was excellent and nicely attentive. I come here every time I visit NOLA.

Fabulous experience at Shaya! The food is among the best in the city - truly a gem of a place with one minor drawback....it is very loud and the tables are very close to each other. We had a wonderfully attentive server who made some great suggestions on what to (or not to) order. Decided on 3 different cold salad starters then had the mushroom humus (unbelievably good) and the lamb kebab. Each course was better than the one before....a true gem that we will definitely be back to again!

Had a very nice early dinner at 4:15 on a Friday during Jazz Fest the day we didn’t go to see the acts. The food was great, restaurant was not overly crowded and our server Ro, guided us through the wine and food menu and assisted us with the best choices. Would highly recommend.

Overall food was pretty good, although a couple of steps down from when the restaurant was owned by Alon Shaya. Seemed as though there weren't enough waiters, and getting the people seated and the meals to the table and then cleared was not a very efficient process. The restaurant is beautiful, but not being used to its fullest and the quality needs to be raised a few notches. Next time we will go to Saba.

We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch/brunch before going to the jazz festival. Our waiter, Matt, could not have been more pleasant and professional. We gobbled up every dish starting with our cocktails. We will definitely return and recommend the restaurant to our fellow foodies.

Everything was pretty good except for the initial greeting when you entered. The very young lady in the front obviously did NOT want to be there. No greeting, no smile and no eye contact. She also seemed terribly annoyed that she had to pull 3 menus and had to walk us 3 feet to our table. No “enjoy your dinner “ and “thanks for coming in”. Honestly, I really don’t have plans to come back because of her attitude. Table service was great and food was good.

We had a really nice lunch the other day. I’ve always had good experiences when we’ve eaten here whether its just by my hubby or a larger group. The food is consistently and attractively presented and service is friendly and warm. Our server was a doll. Always happy to go back here.

One of the best restaurants I have ever been to! The waiter, Ryan was spot on in all his recommendations and knew the menu perfectly! Service was impeccable! The owner, Maria, was a true sweetheart and we could tell she truly cares about the place and the quality of the food. The fried chicken hummus was SO good! And the other hummuses are also... insane! The shrimp kabobs were delicious too! They make the pita in a special oven and even my kids said it was the best pita bread they ever had! I cannot wait to go back!

Amazing menu and Lexi gave us terrific service. We could only get a 10p reservation but host was able to seat us earlier at 9p. We had an incredible experience…. One other late table nearby left 5mins before us and another employee tried to rush us out. A bit of a bummer and pretty rude. Love Shaya just the same though and will be back!

Very good food and great service, even when packed! Just loud inside. You do get used to it, but hard for conversations.

Highly recommend the lamb ragu hummus and pita bread. The hangar steak dish was good too. Our server said if you order hummus or salatim you get complimentary pita. It was the BEST pita we have had in our lives, to die for! The hummus is very creamy, delicious, and the lamb is incredible. Shaya Parking was limited beside the building (about 10 spots) but street parking is available, not sure if it’s all paid. 10/10 server, experience, ambiance, food and all! Reserve early.
