We dined twice at Serafina. On Friday evening, both the professional service and quality of food preparation were excellent. We were sufficiently encouraged by the experience to return the next evening. While the food was still very well prepared, the service had dropped to an amateur level. Our waiter seemed to only engage with tables with 4 or more persons. As a table for 2, we were overlooked at a small table. We had to ask for the removal of dishes from a completed course; and repeated water refills, etc. As we are older and don't like to waste food, we made a point on ordering that the dishes would be shared. When delivered to the table, the first course hadn't been divided, but the oversight seemed to be grudgingly acknowledged by placing the portions on our bread plates. Oh, bread hadn't been served us, although larger tables were accommodated. So, I can only give a mixed review. The food was delicious and well prepared. Service? It really depended on the individual server apparently.

Service was way too fast. We ordered our drinks and the waiter asked us for our meal order. The food came before our drinks (big no no). I had to flag down a busboy to get another glass of wine. Our waiter seemed to be too busy to come by our table, except to get the check. I really felt like they were rushing the service too much, perhaps to be ready for later reservations. Having said that, the food was very good and I liked the Pinot Grigio.

Unfortunately, the food did not taste good. It tasted old and looked like it was from some time before the order. This restaurant presented large portions, and the service was excellent. The atmosphere overall was pleasant, and the waiters were super cordial. I would give this restaurant three stars for trying, but the food quality must improve.

Serafina 38 never disappoints. I’ve come with different groups of people for different reasons and always have a good experience. We came in unexpectedly for our daughter’s birthday and the wait staff couldn’t have been nicer, making a fancy birthday rendering of her dessert. Food is always excellent and we never feel rushed to leave.
