I hadn’t eaten at Scales and Shells for many years and I’m happy to say it is still as good as ever. The food was delicious, especially the mussels appetizer special, and service was good.

The main dishes didn’t have a lot of flavor - boiled fish and seared scallops. Which was disappointing because my boyfriend and I are huge foodies and like to tastes pop of flavors. The apps, service, ambiance were excellent. Maybe we just ordered something wrong on the menu.

Service was wonderful. The selection of food was great, well prepared and fresh. Loved all the dishes we had. Highly recommend this place.

Many menu I tems were no longer offered despite our rather early reservation. My wife and I ordered the swordfish entrees which were served with little flavor added. The lobster bisque reflected traces of bourbon that had yet to cook off. Service could benefit by a few more staff members. We have many positive experiences at this restaurant over the years, but last night was the weakest.

The beer and one appetizer was wrong. Entrees VERY disappointing. Pasta had no flavor. Extremely small amount of seafood in the dishes. Last beer ordered came so late we had already gotten the check. Will not be back.

We had not eaten there in many years. The food was prepared excellent, the service was great. A very enjoyable choice.

We were big fans of Metacom Kitchen so were excited to visit Scales and Shells when the chef moved here. It was all we hoped it would be! We had both the ceviche and calamari as appetizers and they were excellent - rivaled our favorite south county seafood place. For entrees we chose the lobster pasta and the swordfish. Again,they were both cooked to perfection and delicious. The service was prompt and very friendly - we were checked on often throughout the night. We will definitely return!!! Thanks for an amazing dinner!

I have been going to Scales for years, it was in my top favorites. I know it's changed so I expected a new menu. I didn't expect the service to be so mixed, a totally casual guy, serving super casually like hey guys what's up. Then a guy in the suit like we are in another restaurant checking on us, just weird- pick a style. The oysters, none from RI which is so weird, were not cold and inedible. Gross. We left a bunch uneaten and the server just took away the dish, didn't ask if something was wrong. I got grilled lobster which was delicious but not pre-cracked like the old Scales did, so I was a mess after. You now have to pay $13-20 for a side to come with the A la carte menu. We had the cauliflower and it was very good. All in all I will give it time to work the kinks out, I hate that they kept the name and added meat to the menu, the whole point in Scales and Shells is it was just seafood. It's not Scales but something new with higher prices, entrees and way off service.
