In 1976 Milwaukee native Steve Sazama, a.k.a. Saz, opened Saz's State House Restaurant in a historic building nestled beside the railroad tracks on the West Side of town. Saz knew how to make his customers happy with great food and stellar service. What he didn't know was that 45 years later Saz's State House would be the cornerstone for a thriving operation that includes successful Catering, Festivals and retail Barbecue Products divisions. Easy to make a reservation. Restaurant was busy because of the Brewers game but our waitress was prompt to get our order and drinks. Food took a little bit to get out, but again, restaurant was busy. Good choices for food from full dinners to salads, sides. Love the pulled pork and sour cream and chive fries.

Always a great experience at Saz’s. Vincente was a very attentive and friendly waiter. Also my Wife is celiac so all the gluten free options are excellent

The food was surprisingly good. I am a very picky, walleye lover and they did a good job. Not too much breading or dry. I would have preferred to have a healthier option than chips, fries and coleslaw. My husband had a special, a Ruben and it was delicious.

Went on a Saturday for dinner. The service was excellent and the food was great!

It has been a while since I was last able to dine here Once again Saz’s did not disappoint Food was awesome as I remember it from my last visit Looking forward to another visit when I am back in May

This was a one and done for me . My husband who is picky thought the ribs were overcooked and did not vinegar based BBQ. The price was high for the quality

The classic Saz’s chicken & ribs are consistently delicious. The service was attentive and food delivered quickly. The sides were not on par with the ribs and chicken and could definitely be improved in quality. The side salad was unremarkable and the balsamic vinaigrette tasted like it came out of a bottle, and the coleslaw was watery. Overall, I can recommend the barbecue highly.

Had to make earlier reservations due to evening plans, but reservations weren't needed as it was basically empty when we arrived. More diners when we were leaving. We had the baked fish and the pork chop - both were very good, but a bit pricey. Service was attentive and prompt, food was served at good temperature.

Food was delicious and hot! I had the chicken and waffles and it was just AMAZING! Definitely one of my favorite places to eat.

Vincent was such a fantastic waiter!! He was caring, charismatic and spot on with everything! He made wonderful suggestions (first timers!) and shared restaurant history. Such a wonderful experience! His personality and professionalism is what more restaurants need today! We will most definitely be back and will hope Vincent is working when we do! Thank you so much for a wonderful meal and for taking such good care of us!

Our favorite parts of the meal were the pork chop and the pulled pork sandwich. Everything we got was gluten free, and most things on the menu can be made gluten free. It’s important to note that they use a shared frier for chips, but the gluten free Mac and cheese, coleslaw, and baked beans were phenomenal options.

Our server was kind, diligent and patient. I was on a lunch date with 2 friends I haven't seen in a while. We chatted and forgot to look at the menu to order. Server was so kind an gave us the time to chat while checking in on us. Server was fenominol!! If only every server were so kind and diligent

We tried the new bacon appetizer and it was outstanding! I tried a side salad instead of fries. It was fresh and delicious, along with Saz's blue cheese salad dressing...WOW!

Recommended by a friend and didn’t disappoint. Service was great. We had a semi private room to enjoy my son’s graduation from UW-Milwaukee. Everyone loved the food including ribs, chicken, Walleye, cheese curds, onion straws, special sauces. Plus some had Mac-cheese and Cole slaw, while others had fries. The bloody Mary’s were outstanding, as was the spotted cow. Well done Saz’s, certainly a winner for us!

We typically love going to Saz’s with the family. We went last night and it was very expensive and the food was not good. 2 people ordered the chicken and waffles. The chicken was really dried out and they received 2 very small chicken fingers and 2 small waffles for $19.50. 2 others ordered bbq sandwiches which were also very small. We were very disappointed. Not sure we’ll be back.

Ribs were excellent service was timely and our waitress Nadia was outstanding. Personable, efficient and attentive. My wife thoroughly enjoyed the spicey Bloody Mary. Thank You to all.

The best ribs in the state!! We have come to Saz for many years. Best ribs, but sad that they got rid of the baked potato option!!

Dark lighting ambient, difficult to read menu. Both entrees came out cold. Had to send back to the kitchen. Waited longer for replacement food than original order. This was our 1st time visiting. Chicken and waffles on menu stated Chicken breast. Received 3 chicken tenders, high price of $19. Will be last visit.

The food and service were amazing! Everything came out in great time and was fresh/hot. The staff was very friendly. We went on a Saturday afternoon and the place was pretty quiet and we were seated immediately. Great experience I can’t wait to go back!
