We are Alberta's largest and most beautiful steak house. Tom Goodchild's Moose Factory stretches over 20,000 square feet with a seating capacity of over 700 dining room, lounge, banquet room, and patio combined.
This location has built its reputation on the Sawmill formula. Serving over half a dozen different cuts and sizes of "AAA" Alberta beef one can't go wrong ordering any one style. The Moose Factory has become known for many unique qualities like it's luncheon buffet Monday through Friday from 11:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. which attracts the busy luncheon crowd with dozens of salads and an array of hot items to choose from daily.

Eggs benny were soft and nicely liquid. Sauce homemade and tangy. Fruit was tropical prefer orange and grapefruit slices. Instead of chocolate fountain I requested yogurt which was then brought to me 4 creamy containers of it. Sausages and bacon nicely crisp skipped the hash and scrambled but tried the waffle (not the best). Pastries were perfect…croissants danish galore. 2 service staff tagged teamed 2 sections and worked well in tandem. Food staff tending buffet were friendly made eye contact and listened intuitively to guests unspoken and spoken requests being very helpful. They were the ambience to me. Dining area badly lit very dark and shadowy on a nice sunny day as blinds were drawn. Loved the chair with arms and clean table but no table cloth, nice cloth black nappies. First impression bad as 2 of the 3 coffee cups had rings in them. Payment easy with tap function brought to table 18% tip as preselect with 2 higher options. Our guest wanted to go here and I am glad as our previous visit left us with a big NO so that has now changed due to the many positives and we would come back. Compliments to the Chef we must try yr specialty next time. Parking excellent and easy to find.

We went there for my husbands 75th birthday. The food was great! Good for the adults and grandchildren too. Excellent service. Great beef. The only thing I would suggest is to give patrons the choice of gravy or au jus. I was surprised that the Yorkshire pudding came with au jus. Gravy is a much better choice to keep the pudding inflated and crispy. All in all we had an enjoyable evening

Service and food was great. What was not great and we will not be returning until they renovate was the chairs. My husband felt like he was sitting on the floor and they are so sunk in that behind he knees started to ache. We mentioned the chairs several times and the servers agreed they are not good. The place is loud, and the lighting is terrible. Not the ambiance we were looking for on our date night out.

Went for dinner with a work colleague and had a great meal. We watched a bit of the game in the many big screen TVs un the lounge. We had made reservations for the dinning room but then ate in the lounge so we could watch the game. The Meal was really good I had the prime rib. It was done just right. Service was quick and friendly, we would surely come back again.

Reservation for birthday - Party of 4. Quiet Friday night - early evening. Appetizers ordered to share were good - the calamari, bacon wrapped scallops and Jalisco shrimp. Server started off pleasant, but maybe a bit to comfortable and awkward as the evening progressed - birthday guest ordered the salmon entree, he made mention, why would you order salmon in a steak house? I could see she was uncomfortable/embarrassed but I tried to diffuse the situation by making conversation and changing the focus. My wife ordered a cocktail to start and French onion soup, he made a comment about, must not be that good because she still was eating her soup after the other appetizers where gone. Then asked if she wanted another drink she said, "no" but would have a soft drink instead. He commented, well that's a drink, my wife clarified she would not be having another alcoholic beverage but a pop instead. When our meals arrived, they sat at a side table location with a food runner uncovered for a couple mins until our server was free to place them on our table, food was warm, not hot. Two of us ordered the 6&8 oz fillet mignon, both cooked to liking, the salmon was cooked well and moist, but missing furikake, and the brussels sprouts where very strong almost as if they were "old". One of us ordered the 12oz 'AAA' ribeye - it was not grilled, looked more like steamed, not a grill mark to be seen and over cooked and tough - definitely not a "AAA" cut of beef for a steakhouse. When it was time for dessert the birthday guest asked if a dessert was being offered, so she wasn't doubling up on desserts, the waiter said "we don't do that here", another awkward moment for the guest of honour. Overall for an out of the way trip to the restaurant for a special occasion dinner that wasn't even acknowledged after mentioned on the reservation notes, and a HEAFTY bill of $409, not a favorable dining experience, and disappointed to say the least.

If you like the nostalgic feel of an “old fashioned” steakhouse, you can’t beat the Sawmill. The portions are generous and the service is first class!

Absolutely loved this place. The service was excellent and the food was prepared to perfection, the atmosphere in the restaurant was quiet and intimate. Our waiter, Estathios was attentive and knowledgeable, not only with the wine list but also understood that some people prefer a little fat on their Rib eye for the extra flavour and enquired if I'd prefer it left on. I asked for rare and that's exactly what I got, but the highlight of my evening was that it was the first restaurant I've dined in since I began visiting Canada several years ago (I'm an Australian) that didn't commit the cardinal sin of rinsing seafood in fresh water. Which shamefully seems to be the norm here. I mean... Don't even get me started. If you're looking for an intimate evening with great food and great service, then the Sawmill restaurant is for you.

I could have gone anywhere for that buffet, what happened to omelettes being made fresh or the assortment of fruits and vegy's like the old restaurant used to have. food & service was good, but in my opinion it was overpriced for what you got. We will definitely not go back. Isabel

Steve are waiter was great! The food and drinks were good. My husband enjoyed the dessert. I had the Alaskan King crap, it was good but maybe not worth the market price. Would go back.

Rice was dry, along with chicken (chicken Oscar) . Ribs kinda dry but sauce saved it Ribeye steak a bit undercooked, asked for medium rare (Undecided) Service was friendly and polite yet she seemed tired Overall nice environment but the appetizers were better than the entrees but perhaps them entrees were rushed Couldve found better value at other steakhouse but i like the atmosphere at Sawmill

Underwhelming. We went to Sawmill - South last night for Valentine’s. We paid over $200 and felt like we were eating at a cheap diner. I went with the filet “AAA” steak. Claimed on the menu that it didn’t have any fat etc. I could have bought a better steak from Walmart for $15. This had a thick ring of fat on it, over cooked and about 1/2” thick. The rest of the food was just okay. Not worth what they were charging. The service was just okay.

We have been to this restraunt several times and return often because it is a great restraunt. The valentines special was really nice, lots of food options available. The service was excellent, the wine choice suggested by our waiter was spot on. Ambiance was great and the sound level was low. The only draw back was the food. We selected the prime rib option and it was not as expected. We found the meat overly tough,but it was cooked medium rare as ordered. Vegetables were cooked perfect and the mashed potatoes on point. Will give these restraunt another chance

We had dinner here for Valentine’s Day, it was a 3 course meal with options to choose from. I enjoyed the options, I went with the filet mignon. It was cooked as I asked and the overall experience was great!

Our server was Steve, he’s amazing at his job. Food is normally outstanding, we both ordered the 12 oz prime rib. Ended up being probably 8 oz or less with all the fat and gristle we had to cut off or spit out. I know this wasn’t the restaurant’s fault but we were both disappointed in our meal.

The experience, food and service was wonderful! The only draw back was where we were seated. It was a table for two and It was almost like there was some extra space that they squeezed the table into it. I had my seat bumped multiple times by people passing by. Other than that it was a wonderful day experience and we will be going back!

The entire staff from the hostess to the servers were very professional, courteous, polite & they made it feel very much like a family atmosphere dining. Lots of good energy in this place for sure. Our Server Steve was extremely helpful with the wine list & made sure we were looked after.

Our waiter was very personable and tried to provide good service. Unfortunately, he seemed new and did not have all the necessary information so needed to constantly verify. We were told that the buffet ended at 12:30 (although it actually ended at 2:30) and he stated that it is not replenished after 12 (noon) YIKES! We then had to request the replacement of some of the items that were empty or very low. The restaurant did not seem busy, so was very surprised at the state of the buffet. Some staff members were standing around, and trying to pass off the replenishing to someone else. It is very quiet and clean with a lot of space which is very nice. However, I did not feel that the quality of food and service was worth the cost of the buffet.

Our meal was excellent in all aspects except the prices, which seemed a little high. However, they were comparable to prices at any other fine dining establishment these days so I don't blame the restaurant for protecting their bottom line. I just wish there was a way to stop this crazy train of increasing prices that starts with the food processors and wholesalers and is compounded until it finally reaches the consumer.
