Welcome to Sawatdee - Minneapolis! We are OPEN for dine in, take out and delivery.

Serving award-winning Thai cuisine since 1983, Sawatdee is home to Thai food, party spaces, a great happy hour, live music, and impeccable service.

When we first opened our doors at 1983, the Sawatdee mission was simple: to take our community on an adventure full of Thai flavors and good times. Many years later, that adventure is still as exciting as ever. Not only we expanded with more restaurants to share our flavors with more folks, we've added to to the flavors we offer, as well!

Our Minneapolis location is a beautiful warehouse-turned-restaurant, complete with a gold leaf ceiling and glass etchings of a Thai goddess. Specialties include Rama Thai Delight, Pad Thai, and a Tail of Two Cities.

Sawatdee is one of my favorites so decided to take Mom & daughter there for Mother’s Day! Needless to say they loved it too!

Disappointed. First, our server could not be bothered to smile at all. She was efficient enough, but that was about it. The ‘hot’ tea was lukewarm at best. Out appetizer came out about 2 minutes before our entrees. Sadly, the food was not at all the food I remembered. I haven’t been here in quite awhile, and will definitely not be going back anytime soon.

The atmosphere and service was good, but the food presentation bland.My cashew nut chicken stir fry as presented was grey looking. No red bell pepper or anything vegetable to add color to the dish, just dozens of mushrooms and chicken. It tasted ok though. The food was brought to us by a robot which told us to “take our food” repeatedly , so we did until a server arrived to help. Strange. Noise level was good as was the service overall.

while the food was okay (we had to ask 3 times for the spice rack to til she finally brought it and to try to add more flavor to our food), trying to use a birthday coupon Sawatdee sent me in an email was very stressful. The email literally says "Your birthday treat is available to redeem when ordering in-store from a staff member, or by ordering Online, or through the Toast Takeout App." since we were there in-person, I just pulled up the email for the waitress. she left the table 3 times trying to ask an colleague what to do even though the email was clearly from Sawatdee for $8 off and they could have just typed that into their handheld thing. a different employee came over and was pretty rude/abrupt saying I needed a code to scan, where's the bar code, you can get the discount without something for us to scan. I was trying to say that I was just following what the email said and that there wasn't anything to scan on the email, and she'd brusquely say that she knows there's nothing in the email but I still needed a code... we all ended up clicking multiple things on my phone til a barcode finally appeared for them to scan. I just feel like 1: the thing that you HAVE to scan should be in the body of the email, 2: the wait staff should all be trained on what to do when it's not there, and 3: the staff should be nice when the customer literally hasn't done anything wrong and was just following what was said on the email (which didn't mention anything about something needing to be scanned). made for an awkward moment on my birthday...

Such a great place that could accommodate my large work group. The food was pretty good and the service was top notch for such a big party. I wish the spice level of 5 was hotter, but that’s just a personal preference. Others in my group found 3 to be plenty hot. Ingredients felt fresh and the price was perfect for the quantities they provided. I definitely recommend checking them out!

Saturday night with a big event in town right after Valentines Day. Should have been their top staff. So I expected a good experience. But, the server seemed bothered we were there. The food was bland and cold. My 3 spicy (medium) had no spice or flavor. My wife's shrimp was bland and cold. Sent it all back after barely touching it. Luckily, they only charged us for the appetizer, which tasted like frozen aisle egg rolls. Used to be one of my favorite Thai places. Never going back.

I totally recognize that it was Christmas Eve, and someone who might have had to work, didn't want to - well this was quite evident with our server. From the beginning, she acted like we were a big bother, didn't really want to help us, made exasperated sounds, and the minute the clock struck 9p, she turned the lights on really bright and had our bill ready urging us to get out of the restaurant. It wasn't an enjoyable holiday experience at all - and while I have always loved Sawatadee, I'm going to find another Thai restaurant in the future. I have even been buying off of Door Dash for a long time, but the quality just isn't the same as it used to be. It was a disappointing evening for me and my family, who were trying to enjoy the holiday together.

Seems to have gone downhill. The waitress had zero personality and wasn’t very helpful when asking questions about the menu. Place seemed dirty and had a dirty water smell. Won’t be going back.

Food was pretty good, but our server this time was terrible. Also don't like how the default setting for tips starts with 18% on the low end on their handheld device, then she stands over you while you do it. Very uncomfortable situation, no way she deserved more than 10% for what we got.

Was a delicious meal. The robots helping the wait staff carry out the food was too fun! Great idea so the staff doesn’t have to carry so much stuff when working. I’ve always enjoyed the food at Sawatdee!

We hit a glitch last night— our table might have got lost somehow, as it took 2 hours to get our three dinners, which didn’t even arrive together. The steamed dumplings were a soggy mess and the other dinners-pad Thai, green curry and a fish entree, were average at best. Tables came, were served and left while we waited. To go orders came and went. The manager claimed it was Guthrie rush, but I’m doubting it. She offered to comp something but never did. It may have been bad luck, but we won’t return. Plus parking is problematic.

Food was excellent, but our server was incredibly rude. He snapped at me when I tried to state the heat level of my dish, because he wanted to know what protein I wanted. Then the worst was he walked by our table and belched very loud and just kept walking and didn’t excuse himself. Overall, he was terribly rude😡

Very, very poor service. Our whole section of 5 tables of 2-4 parties was unhappy. The restaurant was mostly empty, at this early dinner time on a Tuesday. Our server had 5 tables. She took our appetizer order. We ordered two appetizers off of the menu and said that we wanted to eat those first. After a very long time, she took our entree order. We reminded her that we still had not received our appetizers. 10 minutes later a different staff person brought our entrees. We never received our appetizers! And our server never checked on us again. She left the large, cumbersome menus on our table, cluttering the small space. We saw that she did that with others also. The table next to us received the wrong appetizers twice, then she only brought out one of their entree orders. The other person in their party did not receive their entree until the first person was almost finished eating her dinner. They were unhappy and upset throughout the meal. Another table she mixed up horribly and was apologizing over and over. She never checked to see if we received the correct food, needed any beverage or water refill, or followed through on appetizers. They lost money on those and we ended up having a boring meal with nothing but a plate of pad thai. We each tried a different version of the pad thai because it said on the menu that it was their signature dish. We each agreed that it was blah and we get much better pad thai elsewhere. The decor was enjoyable, the menu has a lot of variety, the service being incredibly incompetent for us and the other four parties around us created a pretty bad experience all around. A bit entertaining on some level as to how bad the service was getting--worse and worse for others around us. We simply didn't get half our order (lost out on trying a variety of dishes and flavors) and didn't receive service other than order taking (we had to get someone to get us our bill). At least we received our entrees at the same time, unlike two other tables.

Awesome food, superb service! We absolutely loved every minute. The curry puffs, lemongrass noodles, and satay were to die for - everything we ate was lovely. Hoping we can come back sooner rather than later!

We had a reservation and once we sat not one person said hello or brought us anything for over 25 minutes. We would have left but it was before an event so we knew we couldn’t get anything else nearby. We were sat at 5:50 and didn’t get out of the restaurant until almost 7:30, which when getting Thai food is ridiculous. We just ordered pad thai, spring rolls & mango rice. The food was meh, not what I remember pre-Covid. The server we had was moving at a turtle pace and the other couple servers were running around. Maybe the experience would’ve been better w a different server, but that wouldn’t have changed the food. And we missed the opener of the show which we were excited to see. Don’t think we will be back.
