We met a friend for lunch last week and had a wonderful meal. The food was prepared excellently and the service was wonderful. It is a small restaurant which adds to its charm and our table looked out over Arthur Avenue. We would definitely return here for another meal.

A gem of a restaurant! Snuggled in among many of its bigger competitors along Arthur Ave., this cozy space has an extraordinarily talented kitchen with many unique offerings as well as the typical traditional southern Italian dishes. The artichoke hearts appetizer was delicious and plentiful. The whole branzino, expertly prepared and filleted at the table. Our choice of dessert was a simple Affogato, but instead of the customary vanilla ice cream, a scoop of Marscapone floated in the expression coffee. Amazing food and attentive, cheerful service capped off a great dinner experience.

Very small restaurant and they don't rush you from your table. Many people speaking Italian. Nice selection on the menu and very nice specials the day we were there. portions are very good and the taste was excellent. We will be going back.

Oh what a night! The owner, Gennaro, couldn't be any more hospitable! You must try his lemoncello! The pasta was out of this world! I had the short rib ragu. The calamari, the zucchini flower (from Italy!), the beet salad. Wow! The wine was perfection. The space is not large and running out of table surface for all the food you'll want to order is a real challenge, but I can't recommend enough. We were there on 12/23 and we even had Christmas carolers come into the restaurant. There is a public parking lot on the other side of the block that we had no problem finding a spot in.

This is my favorite restaurant at Arthur Ave. It will continue to be my go-to restaurant for my birthday. The food is excellent, and I highly recommend the Pappardelle Pesto e Shrimps. The owner and staff are super friendly and attentive. Forget about all those other "famous" restaurants on the block, and go to San Gennaro instead. P.S. You must try the cannoli donuts!

Delicious food, quiet, doting service. Only complaint is prices are not listed, nor is what comes with your meal (I ordered chicken parmigiana expecting a side of pasta, but got a side of veggies…my mistake for not clarifying). You can tell everything was homemade (even cheese for starter bread). For dessert we highly reccomend the zeppolis stuffed with Nutella! Overall 4.5/5

Very affordable and delicious, authentic Italian food. They specified which kinds of their pasta was made in house (most of it). We loved every appetizer and main course we had. I normally hate calamari but theirs wasn't chewy and fishy at all, I actually liked it! Great cocktails as well. Our server was really nice to us and made sure we always had everything we needed and gave great recommendations. He even gave us some limoncello for my birthday. We'll definitely be back.

A family gathering of 9 was enjoyed at this establishment. Menu had a good selection for all sorts of eaters (picky and adventurous) Waitstaff were very attentive and friendly. We had a wonderful meal!

We took our extended family of 11 people to celebrate our daughter's Fordham Graduation at San Gennaro's special pre-fixed graduation dinner last weekend. It was wonderful and surpassed our expectations. The food was delicious and plentiful, the service was fantastic, and the atmosphere was fun with a live singer throughout the meal, dancing, and a very festive atmosphere enjoyed by three generations. They also accommodated one of our family members with special gluten free selections that were equally delicious. Highly recommend!!! Thank you Gennaro for making this such a memorable celebration.

Food was good. Bread was wonderful and the appetizer (clams) was very good quality. The entrees were a bit of hit or miss. The pasta with shrimp was excellent, while the chicken san genaro was bit dry, the sauce was very good though. Overall, it is a good place to eat but it is a bit not consistent.

Food was mediocre and overpriced, for small portions. Pasta was over sauced Nudi and pesto and 4 tiny chicken wings in the scarp dish. Bread wasn’t even good and served with a vinagre that had no taste.

23$ for a home made pasta and chicken scarp over priced? probably in a diner not in the restaurant , bread always fresh from the best bakery of little italy served with vinegar? you talk about the home made oil then costumers buy by jar to us probably you have a different taste then the 135 costumers then they loved everything....sorry just one complain in 135costumers or more we can take! thank you for your review anyway, diner give big portion for less money ,is just a tip for the next dinner

It was seven of us and we went there for my mother-in-law‘s 60th birthday dinner celebration! We came across it last minute on OpenTable and were able to make a quick reservation. By far the most authentic Italian restaurant in NYC down to the fact that so of there did and ingredients are shipped to b the restaurant straight from Italy several times a week. There is not a single item on the menu that is ever frozen or not made from scratch and you can taste this in every bite of every item on the menu. If you want to experience a real Italian meal and not an "American Italian meal" filled with Parmigiano this is your place to go. The service here is second to none and as if your the only customer in the restaurant. The staff is super attentive to ask your needs and very knowledgeable about the cuisine. The best and most unique part though is that the owner and chef takes time out for what seems like everyone's meal to make sure they are enjoying there food. Bottom line, if you want a taste of real Italian food in NYC there is no better place then San Genaro. It's also a bonus that chef San Genaro beat Bobby Flay. You can look it up on your own and see this, but Chef Genaro is to humble and concerned with his customers its not something that's blasted all over the walls or menus as most NYC restaurants would do had they beat Bobby Flay in a throw down. Finally I'm going to end with the fact that you cannot leave without having the limoncello flight after dinner. The home made limoncello from traditional flavors to flavors like broccoli Raab are amazing and each one is better then the next. Try a flavor out of your comfort zone, you will be happily surprised with the tastes that you would never think would go together.

I can’t say enough about how wonderful this place is. It’s a small charming, intimate dining room. Most of their pastas are homemade. We had the fried burrata with tomatoes which was amazing. The tomatoes were cooked and tasted like a fresh marinara sauce. For entree I had the Pappardelle with pesto and shrimp which was delicious! Dessert was cannoli donuts which were unique and fabulous with a cappuccino. We couldn’t get enough of it. The bonus to the night was that the owner/chef came out and spoke with us! We talked about how he created the cannoli donuts and gave me cooking tips! Great guy and we loved the personal touch. We’ll definitely be back.

Food was fantastic and our server was super attentive, personable and professional. You’ve never heard of it but you have to try the Paccheri Genovese. If you order the Veal Milanese, bring your appetite. 5 stars across the board.

Accueil très chaleureux et très bon service Vraie cuisine italienne contrairement à ce qu on peut trouver à NY Large choix de plats Concernant les prix , cela reste dans la norme locale Encore merci au patron Gennaro pour l accueil
