Sammie’s is a little taste of old Italy in downtown Austin. It celebrates the great ‘red sauce’ institution—inspired by old school, legendary Italian-American restaurants. The menu offers classic dishes in a casual but sophisticated, retro-designed space that is both lively and comfortable, capturing the essence of a night out at your favorite neighborhood joint. The space consists of a central dining room overlooking Shoal Creek and 6th Street, polished wood bar, Mildred’s Room (a private dining/wine room), and wraparound patio dining area. Please note that patio seating is weather contingent.

The menu offers riffs on standards including Housemade Mozzarella Sticks, Clams Casino, and Caesar Salad a la Tommy; timeless pastas like Spaghetti with Meatballs, and Linguine Vongole; and Sammie’s Classics: big portions of iconic plates like Chicken and Eggplant Parmigiana, Veal Marsala, and Baked Manicotti.

This was the best Italian food that I’ve ever eaten! The rigatoni and lasagna were phenomenal. Each bite was like a bite of heaven and the portions are large!

This was our first time at Sammie's ... we are in town visiting friends/family... it was completely packed at 8:45 pm and so it was very loud but it did not compromise the service or the food in anyway... can't wait to go back but next time it will be at open when it might not be as busy

Exceptional food. Service could’ve been better. Our server forgot two appetizers we ordered and the bar drinks. Very crowded with high noise level. Would go again for the food though!

Amazing food and the wait staff was amazing as well. Every time I turned around someone was filling our water or checking on us. I’m originally from Jersey where there is a lot of Italian places and this was hands down the closest I’ve gotten to that.

The service, the ambiance, the food! All exceptional. If you are able to snag a reservation, definitely do so. I loved the spicy vodka pasta and the Caesar salad. Will be back soon!

It was too loud! Lasagna is delicious but too big impossible to finish it up. You should be advised to eat it between 2 people. We all order it and took home half the plate.

Such an an amazing place! Food was delicious and my server Salfi was fun and energetic and knowledgeable. He recommended an excellent wine and treated my friend and I well. For my meal I had the chicken piccata and Caesar salad. The vibe is very high end and romantic and fun. The mood was definitely set with the dim lights and the red lights. I could tell everyone that worked there valued their quality of service( the host, bartender, busser). Everyone ensured that we had everything we need. It was refreshing to great teamwork like that.
