Sakana Sushi Lounge is the culmination of hand selected fish and creative Japanese cuisine in an elegant yet comfortable space in Downtown Los Angeles. We'll be the first to admit it; quality is not what it used to be. Our restaurant's focus is on using the highest quality ingredients which may be a paradigm shift in an our fast paced world. Our team hand selects real fish on a daily basis as a ritual and deep commitment to those who allow us the pleasure of serving them. It was great. Last minute date went well. Staff was very attentive and everyone was helpful outside of our server. Just a heads up when you ask for extra ginger that’s what they will give you haha. Great experience manager Brendan definitely showed a lot of love. Will be returning soon.

I didn’t know what to expect, all I knew was I ordered with them on DoorDash late at night and my gf and I were craving sushi at 11:30pm the 2 nights before and it was actually really good.2 days later they had us on hooked so I made a rsvp with OpenTable telling them I need a big table cause my gf and I were really hungry lol.. and low and behold we were greeted by the host telling us he had a big table ready for us once we arrived. They understood the situation we were in because we had skipped lunch from a long day. I had better than anticipated experience and live music + singer especially was amazing. A+ in my books and service was on point. Let’s not forget the quality and the price as well!

Sakana is consistent and dependable for quality sushi, the service is always superb and fast, and the live entertainment (singer and guitar) on Saturday was great. Love that they are open late now.

Service was great and the food was excellent. We got there early and it was quiet. As it got later the noise level increased but you could still hear each other. They had live music. A lady singing with another person playing guitar. Really loved this place. Would go back k when in LA again. I

It’s always a pleasure dining at Sakana Sushi Lounge DTLA. My family and I come here quite often. The fish is always fresh and reasonably priced. The ambience is elegantly relaxing. From the music to the candlelit tables. The service is alway attentive and polite and willing to serve. You’re never having to wait on anything, the service is prompt. The over all experience keeps us coming back time and time again. If you’re in the neighborhood and craving Sushi… Try Sakana Sushi Lounge DTLA. You won’t be disappointed.

Excellent experience! I will definitely return! Me and my best friend were celebrating our 11 year anniversary of friendship! We met the owner - or manager and he explained to us the quality of rice that the sake was made with! It always so refreshing to see his love for his restaurant and the quality of food and drinks they serve! The valet was easy, and affordable because we all know dtla is a train wreck when it comes to parking. I will definitely return! Sushi was amazing! 10/10!

Do not go here! This was honestly some of the worst sushi I’ve ever had. We started with the crispy rice, which was completely burned at the bottom and just overall overcooked. Even the tuna on top tasted par-cooked. Disgusting. Then, I ordered the salmon belly sashimi. For $17, I got three thick little wedges of sashimi that maybe together amounted to one normal piece of sashimi. As I mentioned, the pieces were cut disgustingly thick and they were extremely chewy. This is BELLY. It should melt in your mouth. And the temperature was also off on this one. The middle was so cold it tasted like it had just come out of the freezer, but the outside was warm and slimy and tasted like it had been smoked. Terrible; I actually left a piece behind. Then, I ordered the creamy scallop roll and red and green roll. Again, both horrible. The scallops in the creamy scallop roll were so overcooked that they actually had char on them. Rubbery and inedible. I also don’t know where the cream was. Maybe dissolved by the blow torch. The one saving grace to this roll was the crab. It was actually cold and delicious. The red and green roll just tasted bland and filled with poor quality fish kept at the wrong temperature. The service was okay, but they didn’t even ask why we left so much food. Why? Because they know. Whatever you do, DO NOT GO HERE.

This is my go to spot for sushi in Los Angeles. The service is great and the food is delicious. It’s very cozy inside or outside. I’d does get busy so it is a great idea to book a reservation in advance. Check it out, you won’t be disappointed. Open late, 11pm

The space is attractively designed, and tables are reasonably far apart, but noise is amplified by all the hard surfaces. It was LOUD. Service was efficient and friendly, prices were reasonable and the sushi was good.

I took a group of friends for a bday surprise dinner. I hate to complain but we got no attention or service. I only got one drink the entire night because our server was nowhere to be seen. I had to get up after 20 minutes to go find him and ask for our check. Waited another 15 minutes for that to arrive. Everyone was in disbelief at how we were basically abandoned after placing our order. I was embarrassed to have brought everyone there. Food was good.

Myself and 2 colleagues came here for dinner. We’re in town for a convention and it was walkable from the downtown Marriott. Great service, yummy food, and tasty drinks! I would definitely recommend and go again.

We had dinner early on a Friday evening before a show. The restaurant was pretty much empty. Service was prompt and nearly perfect, thus 4 stars. I had to remind them to bring our dessert. The bogo sushi rolls were all good in taste and value. I would go again.
