Great food, no question. Hostess's were super friendly and welcoming. My server... Wasn't able to answer my question regarding the special (NZ salmon, "is it jet fresh"). I did find it hilarious that he stated the beef was locally sourced, and then followed the statement with, "from lllinois". Sir, that's a different state, local would at least be inside lowa.... Would I go again? Absolutely

My 2nd visit to the West Des Moines location. I have eaten at maybe 15 Ruth’s Chris Steakhouses over the US and Mexico(including some this year on work travel). I had reservations at 3pm with my sig ot for Mother’s Day(5 stars for her btw). I know it’s later in the day for “brunch” and we joked it was more like “linner”. From the moment we walked in the vibe was almost cold and unwelcoming. Have never had this ever at a Ruth’s. The front desk staff(3 to 4 people) almost appeared to be in a zombie like state not caring. I had requested bar seating and were taken to dining room. We checked the bar and it may have been 1/2 full at 3pm on a Sunday. Our actual table was nice but we were hoping for bar. The host who sat us spinned a story and didn’t seem convinced even in that why bar request wasn’t honored. Our server was nice but seemed bored. I get it….it was oost Moms Day rush but the service was passive at best and disinterested at worst. Food was good(crab cakes and side of broccoli and creamed spinach). For nearly 200.00 for 2 of us(coupe drinks as well) I’m expecting at minimum a warm welcoming attitude. Sorry to say this will be my last visit to this one. I’ll go to the other Ruth’s Chris in places like Denver and Louisville where I’ve had no issues at outside of my meal.

The service was great and top notch. I have had great experiences with RC over many years including this one in WDM, IA but today was not even close to my past experiences. The lobster bisque was quite salty. My wife and I both ordered the Crab Benedict which supposedly contains 2 poached eggs but all the eggs, especially the yolks, came out with the consistency of hard boiled eggs. No exaggeration here. It really came as hard boiled eggs. Not satisfied with the food during this trip to RC. On a good note, service remained great and better than other RCs I have visited in other states.

Sadly disappointed. This is one of the many Ruth Chris restaurants we have visited. The service was super slow (although our waitress was very sweet and tried to be accommodating). It took a long time for drinks and over an hour to get our food. Out of 7 steaks 4 were done wrong! Even the famous seasoning seemed off . We spent well over $1000 and sadly I would say thumbs down.

I have to say our server, Khristal, was absolutely amazing!!! She catered to me and my fiancée as if we were the only people that she had to work with. The suggestions of food she gave were on point!! The fact that my food stayed hot the entire time was extremely wonderful!!! I came to Des Moines from Omaha for a show but next time, I’m coming just to try something else and pray I get the same server!!’ Khristal, sorry if spelled wrong, but honey, don’t change!! You’re a rockstar!!!

The bar area upstairs is quite loud. Dinner was great but was unable to hold a conversation with my date through most of the dinner. Downstairs is much better and would recommend that if you want a more intimate dinner and ability to converse.

The food was good , not great . The same can be said for the service and atmosphere. My wife and I have eaten at other ( what I consider high end ) steak houses and unfortunately Ruth's Chris didn't measure up to those. Same price range but the atmosphere and food were not on the same level. The steak could have been more tender , we each got the 16 oz ribeye. The salads were good but for $13.50 each its a little pricey for a salad that goes with a $65 .00 steak. Total we dropped $235.00 for 2 steaks, salads and mashed potatoes. Including a tip. No alcohol.

5/13/24 Update: Manager reached out and apologized for our experience and provided a gift card to make up for a portion of our bill. Adjusted rating accordingly. ---- If you want to celebrate a special occasion and/or want to be treated better than at Texas Roadhouse, go elsewhere. I made a reservation weeks in advance to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. The reservation was for 5:45pm on a Wednesday evening...so shouldn't have been overly busy. In the reservation, I specifically asked for a quiet / romantic location since this was a very special anniversary. We arrived 5 minutes before our reservation, checked in and then proceeded to wait about 15 minutes. In that time we watched other couples and groups arrive who stated they had reservations (some 45 minutes in the future) who were all seated before us...no big deal but odd considering what happened next. When our name was called we were directed to go upstairs and discovered that we were being seated in the bar. The upstairs bar area is the very opposite of quite and romantic and is apparently where they send patrons who do not meet the dress code (we were dressed up). At this point I was incredibly upset but said nothing as I didn't want to ruin the evening and embarrass my wife...so I kept it to myself. Overall the food was fine...except my wife's baked potato was swimming in so much butter that she had to pour melted butter onto her bread plate as the butter was beginning to overflow and spill off of the baked potato plate. Both of our steaks were undercooked but not bad enough to send back. The server was polite and professional but the service was incredibly slow. We didn't get any appetizers and only had one drink each and it still took over 2 hours to order, get drinks, get food, and then pay. Considering the price and reputation of Ruth's Chris, the overall experience was very disappointing!

We went to Ruth’s Chris in West Des Moines for the first time, and let them know it was our anniversary on our reservation and they put red rose petals on the table. It was a very nice touch. The food was delicious, and I tried the Irish Wristwatch cocktail. very refreshing. The decor is stylish and unique. Highly recommend.

We celebrated our anniversary at Ruth’s Chris in West Des Moines, IA. We sat at a circular booth in the 1st floor bar which was cozy and comfortable, I loved the high seat backs. The service was efficient, professional and kind. The meal was spectacular, the steaks were cooked perfectly. We look forward to dining there again.

The quality of the food was what I was really looking forward to. Unfortunately, the steak was a bit overdone. And both the creamed spinach and scalloped potatoes were lacking in flavor. Will give Ruth's Chris another try at some point. But, if they fall short of what I consider high quality food for a "fine dining" restaurant it will likely be the last time.

Visited Ruth Chris on a Sunday evening. There were three other parties there during our visit and we were all sat right next to each other in a large dining space that was otherwise empty. It took five to 10 minutes to get water. Another five to ten for a drink order to be made. I was done with my meal an hour and 45 minutes after I sat down. It then took another hour to get the bill, which wasn't correct, 20 minutes to fix the bill and when they were dropped off no apology, no have a good evening come back again, nothing. The food was ok. My steak was a good cut but poorly seasoned. One member of our party said the butter was the highlight. The crab cakes were very good.

Greetings were great. Wait was 20 minutes past reservations, Server was very kind and helpful but there were large gaps between check in times we wondered if she would come back. Food was outstanding! It is on par if not superior to other RCR we have eaten at in other cities. Worth the burn. Restaurant is beautiful. We wish there was a dress code. It was a little loud but we were fine. Can’t wait to return.

Sam was a great server. He kept our drinks full, was very prompt and proactive. The lobster voodoo has an amazing flavor and one of the best appetizers there. The steaks were prepared to perfection and came sizzling to the table. The sides were creamed spinach, potatoes au gratin and sweet potato casserole and all of them were very flavorful. The sweet potato casserole could be a dessert it’s so good. The only complaint I have is the hat issue. One of the guests had to remove their hat prior to entering the bar area. The hat was not a baseball hat but rather a dressy designer cap. I was under the impression that hats could be worn in the bar area just not in the dining room. We were told that you can only wear a hat if you sit at the actual bar counter that was literally 2-3 feet from our table.

This was a “wine” dinner put on at Ruth’s Chris by Silver Oak wines. I’ve been to wine dinners at Ruth’s Chris before. This was definitely subpar. At the last wine dinner we attended (Stags Leap), the service was much better, and the food was excellent. Last night, you could tell they were short staffed. Service was not good. Our scallops were excellent. The duck was great, and the pork fine. The NY Strip was not good. It didn’t taste the same as a normal Ruth’s Chris steak. It was very thin (not thick like usual), and overdone. All in all, for $195 per person, it was not worth it. All 6 of us at our table felt the same way.

My most recent dining experience was top notch! Hostess Jessie was extremely welcoming and made us an anniversary card! Server Justin killed it with the wine pairings. Best steak in town.
