Rusty Pelican never disappoints. The ambiance is exquisite and the food is excellent. Prices are also very reasonable. Servers are friendly and attentive. We visit a few times each year when we’re in the vicinity.

Great experience, wonderful server, and all of the food was great. The coconut shrimp appetizer was especially good. The garlic bread is a must have. Will definitely visit again.

Rusty Pelican is the perfect choice for a romantic evening, business meeting or a gathering with friends. We visit this restaurant frequently and I have never been disappointed. Great garlic bread and every seafood dish is amazing!

They used to serve the best crab legs in town, but now they are off the menu, to my deep disappointment. Starters: We ordered Canju Shrimp is a great dish that is highly recommended. Garlic bread is also very good! Calamari is not recommended. It barely had any flavor. For the main dishes, we had Scallops—they were okay, but nothing I would reorder. Cioppino would have been a nice dish if only the muscles had been cleaned before cooking. Hulibat—which was done well, but the cherry tomatoes were served cold. It ruined the entire experience. Yet it was Mother's Day, and we had a great time!

Mothers Day brunch was a marvelous 3 course prefixe menu and well priced for the quality. Best fried Calamari ever. I had the salmon with lobster sauce, it was fresh and well prepared, not underdone but not dried out either. Compliments to the chef. It was very busy but service was spot on. Fast becoming my new “go to” place for good eats.

Went to the Rusty Pelican for Mother's Day brunch. ( We have been to the Rusty Pelican many times in the past so we are very familiar with the restaurant and the menu. ). The brunch was a fixed menu and the starter was fried calamari which is usually excellent. This time it was extremely greasy even though the actual calamari pieces were very good. My wife and I both had the poached eggs and crab benedict. My eggs were completely hard. The restaurant was very busy and I did not tell the waitress until she came back to our table after I had finished eating. She offered to remake the eggs but I was full at this point. She said she would tell the chef but did not offer any price reduction. Over all a disappointing Mother's Day brunch. I am hoping this was just a one time bad experience.

Normally a great experience but this time it was mediocre for how much it costs. Because it was Mother’s Day, reservations meant nothing, we got sat late, outside in the cold and the dark and they added a bunch of tables outside so we were way too close to another party it just felt like fast food instead of fine dining like we’ve come to expect from this restaurant. I’ll probably come back but not on Mother’s Day

The restaurant did poor planning as far as seating and reservations and was overbooked. We made reservations and had to wait 15 minutes past. We had requested outdoor seating when making our reservation which could not be granted at the time of check in. I was very very disappointed in the limited dinner menu as I was expecting the full menu to be available. Restaurant was overcrowded loud and overall chaotic with seeing the servers literally running around. Please do better next year and realistically plan how much the restaurant can handle without sacrificing ambiance and food quality just to turn tables a little more.

The Rusty Pelican had a great ambiance and friendly service. However, the garlic bread and calamari were both quite greasy, which brought down the enjoyment of the meal a bit. But overall we enjoyed ourselves and our meals. The desserts (crème brûlée & key lime pie) were delicious!

Lovely dinner with a beautiful view. We arrived a few minutes early for our reservation but were seated right away (bonus that we got a table next to a window). The service was great and the food fantastic. While the crab bisque needed a bit more seasoning, it was still good. The Mahi Mahi and Swordfish were fantastic and the crispy brussels sprouts simply amazing. Our waiter (apologies, I can't remember his name) was awesome. Overall, a very nice evening and we'll definitely return when we're in the area again.

I have to say I was very disappointed. Our $62 meal came out cold. Not even really luke warm, but cold. Our server also wasn’t the nicest. If we are gonna spend the money we did for a meal like that I wouldn’t ever go back here. I’ll go where my meal come out hot and delicious.

A five star review celebrating our 45 anniversary. This was made especially so for our 21/2 hour time since bg by our exceptional waitress, Allison and her assistant. Her warm, and radiant smile & demeanor reflected this 5 star hospitality. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal of Mahi mahi, espresso martini, and, garlic bread, calamari and more drinks... Always served with a thoughtful pace, that savored eating!

There is no uniqueness to the menu based in the appetizers and main courses we tried. We did not walked out of the restaurant thinking that we had a memorable dinning experience, the contrary, we decided not to return to the location, mainly based on the culinary aspect of the visit. The location and the restaurant are nice. The food needs a culinary renascent. My entry is based on my unique experience and taste. Others may really like what the restaurant is offering.

I live in Corona and this is my very favorite resturant in Newport! We always try and get the both that sits up high back by the bar. It looks out over the Harbor with Spectacular Views! Martini's are delicious but a little pricey. Fish is super fresh and the Garlic bread is amazing. Oh and the wedge salad is yummy it has a balsamic drizzle over the top of the blue cheese dressing! If you haven't given them a try you are definitely missing out!

We thought we would try the restaurant, haven't been in a very long time. We were seated upstairs next to a private party. Our server was very nice, but food took a very long time to arrive and was not good, no flavor. Rice was overcooked, coconut shrimp had no flavor, shrimp cocktail shrimp was pretty small. Rib eye was delicious. Party was very loud.

It took me a while to write this because I was a little taken aback honestly. Since I’ve moved to Newport Beach ( I moved from West Hollywood about a year and a half ago) I’ve come here several times, especially when someone would come visit. I always had a pleasant experience. Not this time unfortunately. I came for lunch about two weeks ago with my mom ( she was visiting from France and was going back that day). The older gentleman that’s always at the front greeted us very warmly ( as per usual) and sat us. Our waiter was unfortunately not so friendly. I was speaking French with my mom (because she is from France) and he seems to think I did not speak any English. I am American . Every time I spoke to him he pretended he didn’t understand me and I had to repeat myself constantly. He also seemed annoyed and tried to rush us the whole lunch. He then started to go around our section ( we were outside) talking to people about a restaurant membership for people that often go to the Rusty Pelican . He did not offer me such membership even though I go there often and I’m a Newport Beach resident . When it came time for the check he brought it to us saying “ no rush “ and then proceeded to stand there until we put down a credit card ( by the way I was in the middle of a conversation and felt really uncomfortable having him linger at the table , waiting) I don’t know if he was afraid we would run without paying or he really wanted to kick us out ( btw it wasn’t late and other tables got seated in the same section after us) but I felt really insulted by this behavior. We would have stayed longer but I felt so uncomfortable after I ordered a dessert because he seemed really annoyed we weren’t leaving immediately. It’s really sad because this was my go-to place to take friends that came from LA or France but I guess I’ll find a nicer , friendlier spot.

This is truly the best restaurant in Newport Beach. We dined here the day before and were absolutely thrilled about the service and the food. The view is stunning. Super attentive server! We met the next day a bunch of friends and were a total of 9 people and decided to go again. They were able to make arrangements to accommodate us with a nice window seating. It was excellent again but the most amazing thing was that we got all together our food at the same time. Amazing. This restaurant is indeed focused on their customer. I would go there again. $8 valet parking absolut fine! If you’re looking for the best restaurant - go here!

Metting up for lunch with family I wanted to make sure our nephew Tommy, who is in a wheelchair would be comfortable. They have an elevator, and all the passageways were wide enough for a comfortable trek to our table. Chad was very accommodating and explained all the specials with detail. Two of us ordered the Captain's special. He made sure we had all we needed and that our lunch was as we expected. Our lunches were prepared well and delicious! Natalie the manager even came by to make sure we were having a pleasant lunch. The view of the marina was very nice on our sunny day we didn't want to leave! Thank you for making our day lovely at Rusty Pelican :)

We enjoyed our experience at the Rusty Pelican very much. Our server, caane was amazing. The food was delicious. We were celebrating an anniversary and we enjoyed a wonderful piece of cheesecake on the house. We sat upstairs by the bay windows and enjoyed the view. The Rusty Pelican never disappoints.

What a perfect evening to celebrate my husband's birthday. The food was superb ...my husband said it was the best halibut he's ever had and my shrimp scampi was delicious and a huge portion. I took half of it home. Also, the wedge salad was one of the best we've ever had...and we've had them all over the country. Chad, our waiter was awesome. Such great, friendly service without being obtrusive. He had a lot of tables, but he managed to keep everyone happy. We would ask for him the next time we're there...and there will be a next time. Thanks so much for a perfect evening!

Celebrating my birthday. Party of 6 for lunch. We were sat near the door leading to the patio and it was chilly each time a server went in or out. I ordered the Penne with shrimp & scallops, 2 scallops and 5 medium sized shrimp, penne was obviously pre-cooked and then reheated to serve. Vodka sauce spicy with chili flakes, not recommended if you don’t like spicy. Not the best in Newport, just adequate.
