The Russian Tea Room is in my top 5 New York restaurants. I've been coming here for over 40 years and it's consistently wonderful. The beef stroganoff is the best I've ever had. It's a gorgeous restaurant with a wonderful ambiance and perfect service.

Tourist trap - food isn’t fresh nor plentiful. The cakes tasted like Duncan Hines packet mix. $395 a rip off. Decor is beautiful.

Was fun but pricey. Very nice surroundings, beautiful room. Clotted cream and scones were very tasty. Creme brulee was very good. Thought some of the cakes were dry, some of the bread sandwiches were dry, although the fillings were good. We started with one waiter and then he disappeared, and didn't know who to ask questions. Asked if companion wanted a second glass of champagne, and then found he was charged $28 for it. They could have mentioned "not included." Tea were tea bags.

The service is impeccable and the ambiance cannot be matched. The food isn’t at the same level of excellence but is good nonetheless. The prices are high.

Iconic gem next to Carneige Hall. Service was exceptional as Jasmine was amazing. The food was perfect. Strongaoff anywhere else is ruined for me , it was to die for. Cant wait to return on my next trip!

There are reasons why certain restaurants are stalwarts. Environment-- exactly what you want. Four courses-- everything was delicious. Haven't been there in 20 years. What was I thinking? Next time in NYC, they'll be seeing me.

Our cocktails and starters were excellent. My chicken Kiev was very good but unfortunately my wife’s beef Wellington was not the best…the restaurant was good enough to deduct it from the bill and they were good about it. We ended the night with some 2 very good good teas.

As expected with no fail, you're transported back a few decades to the good old days of NYC. It's a landmark that should be well protected forever. Food id amazing, service impeccable. Thank you for making my catch up with a good friend special.

Our meal at the Russian Tea Room was spectacular. We shared a beef dumpling appetizer and enjoyed mushroom stroganoff for our main course. We ordered creme brûlée and tea for dessert. All of the food was excellent in taste, temperature, and presentation. Not only was the food excellent, but the atmosphere and the service were truly outstanding. The dining room is quiet and so beautiful, and the service was top-notch. The staff is extremely helpful and attentive without being intrusive, and everything about our meal was perfectly timed. I'm sorry that I can't remember the name of our server, because he deserves all the accolades! I highly recommend the Russian Tea Room for excellent food and an elegant all-around experience.

This institution is past its prime. The ambiance is gaudy and outdated. The service was very good but there were many empty tables. The food is the main problem. I remember the food as being wonderful when I was there 29 years ago. The appetizers were fine but the main courses were terrible.

Do not order the salmon wrapped in pastry. The fish was inedible. The waiter visited out table once, and the place was nearly empty on a Sunday night. Tea was a bag in hot water. Russian beer cost $24 a bottle. This place used to be great! What happened? Disappointing food and service and way overpriced.

Russian Tea Room was something I have wanted to experience for a very long time, and it definitely did not disappoint! We went for brunch and upon arrival were warmly greeted, taken back to our reserved table, and waited on immediately. Every staff member was friendly and attentive. We had the assorted basket to start, which was sooo delicious! Then our group had the French toast and Truffle Quiche, both tasty and filling! One person in our group had the Cosmonaut mixed drink and she said it was the best drink she's ever tasted. All in all, a truly wonderful experience, and I am looking forward to going back at our next visit to NYC!

I definitely can't say it was a bad experience, and if I had no afternoon tea experience to compare it against, I would probably have been blown away, but that isn't the case. Drake Hotel in Chicago has them beat (and for about half the price) and frankly so does Russian Tea Time, also in Chicago. The dessert tray at Russian Tea Room was uninspired at best and inappropriate at worst (a fruity pebble-flavored macaron doesn't belong at an elegant $145 tea). The savories were quite good but again, largely uninspired and a bit dated. The seared tuna with watercress was probably the most 'elevated' and contemporary item served in the tea assortment. They also only offered clotted cream to go with the scones upon request, though I guess I can give a pass on that as this is the Russian tea room, not the English tea room. All in all it was a fine experience and you'll have a good time if you go, those are just my personal critiques based on other experiences I've had elsewhere.

The restaurant says it is a tea room, very disappointing to find Only 4 types of tea all in an organza bag, not LOOSE LEAF! The gluten free offering should be taken off the menu to charge $145 for 4 slices of gluten free bread with very little filling and no Bellinis cucumber slices, no scones or little cakes. Just a chocolate pyramid cake and 2 scoops of tasteless over iced sorbet. The price they are charging per person is the same as tea at Fortumn and mason or cafe royal in London….AVOID!

Our server was excellent. Everything else was horrible. The drinks did not have a good taste and they were so over priced. The salad was wilted and bad. We had to send it back. I order the chicken Kiev. The chicken was good but the carrots were undercooked and there was one small piece of broccolini. We also ordered a Wagyu burger but they brought beef stroganoff. Then we waited almost 20 minutes for the burger to come. It was too late and asked for it to go. There were drunken college kids at the next table. They were yelling, being loud and obscene. The manager actually sat with them and did not ask them to keep it down. No one came over to apologize or offer anything to correct any of the mishaps. They even charged us for the Wagyu burger. We asked not to be charged since we couldn’t eat it when we were actually eating dinner. They removed from the bill but took the bag with the burger. Tasteless. We will never go back there. It’s truly unbelievable how terrible this place is now.

Iconic atmosphere. Staff pleasant and attentive. Salmon sandwich make of pressed fish and over salted. Couldn't finish eating it. Better values for the price elsewhere.
