Stopped in for Brunch. The dining room is still a time capsule if it’s former self. The time of day it was quiet for a Sunday at noon. We sat in a booth in the back. The wait staff and staff are still attired in their traditional uniforms. We ate light and it seemed to perhaps irk our waiter a bit as we were their for brunch and not tea. We eyed the menu but no suggestions were made to us. It was just a crap shoot that we ordered French Toast and Wgga Benedict. Nothing was suggested to go with our entrees. It would have been better if sides were suggested. The Benedict was okay not exceptional. The French toast was thick and had three compotes with syrup. All adequate but nothing to write home about. It was an adequate brunch. Dessert was offered but considering desserts cost as much as an entree we weren’t sure since the entrees were adequate we didn’t want to be disappointed. The waiter was merely an order taker and not really engaged. Russian tea room is someplace that you enjoy the decadent atmosphere and sink in and enjoy your stay. We were in and out in 45 minutes. In fact we were so quick the host staff noted that we had just sat momentarily ago. She did not engage us to ask why. But we could see the incredulous look on her face that we were leaving so soon. It wasn’t bad. It’s just wasn’t great.

What can I say? The Russian tea room is our favorite restaurant in New York City. The service is superb, the food is outstanding, the noise level allows you to talk without shouting, and the decor is exceptional. And you can easily walk to the theater district after dinner. We had the Siberian dumplings, beef stroganoff and chicken Kiev. The dumplings and the stroganoff were particularly outstanding.

Old world charm, server did not ask how my wife wanted her lamb chops done. The were too well done for her taste.

A wonderful dining experience! The restaurant is beautiful. The staff attentive and professional, and the food was amazing! Definitely worth the visit when in NYC!

This is such a NY institution that younger people don’t really know about. I took my 20/30 year old children and 4 and 7 year old granddaughters and they were blown away. The service, food and opulent surroundings are at the highest level, all so enjoyable. I highly recommend it. We’re coming back for th 109th anniversary in 2 years if not before!

We were seated comfortably in a booth, had its table filled out for us to more easily enter. Our waiter made wonderful suggestions and we tried some of the suggestions he made. We were not disappointed.
