Service bad had to ask for drinks 3 times place was not even busy , pork dinner advertised with crackling not a scratching in sight , meat was like sandwich pork

Very young staff with no idea about customer service. Food mediocre. Won’t be going again.

Our visit to The Royal Oak on 18 May 24 was not very good. There was a very loud birthday party in the min bar area and we were sat in a small booth right opposite the bar itself; we booked the venue well in advance and was given the only table left so were afforded no consideration for early booking. People in the queue for the bar were stood right next to our table whilst we were eating and the foul language was frequent and loud from young men waiting to be served. The food was generally average but the service from the staff was poor; there were two very young girls as waitresses who had little idea on how to serve effectively under pressure in a very busy environment. We had to constantly ask for our cutlery and in the end got it ourselves. Ive never submitted a poor review like this and hope not to again but The Royal Oak will certainly not get our business again.

A pleasurable experience from beginning to end. Food was excellent and good value, service good even though it was busy.The dog was made very welcome too, with treats and water brought for her.

Lovely atmosphere, staff pleasant and attentive. Not rushed, relaxing atmosphere. Food good and no long wait between courses. Have been here a few times and would recommend

We were pretty disappointed that we came for a Sunday roast and then there were only 3 available when we went to order (we were a group of 6). The 3 who could order a roast wanted to order the pie but we're then told there were no pies either. This should have been pointed out at the point of giving us the menus. The food was lovely, it was just disappointing that the menu didn't have the stuff on we wanted. It's not like we rocked up at 9pm, it was a 6.30pm booking. Also, the lighting in the dining area could be changed, there are a few spots where you can be in the glare of a spot light and as someone who gets migraines triggered by light, it's not very accommodating.
