Rossoblu celebrates chef Steve Samson’s two home cities, Los Angeles and Bologna, Italy. The menu features house made salumi, soulful pastas, market produce, and wood grilled fish and meats.

Located in downtown’s City Market South, the site of Los Angeles’s original produce market, Rossoblu’s vaulted dining room and open kitchen create a festive dining environment. The restaurant’s private outdoor piazza allows al fresco diners to feel far removed from the nearby city bustle. An intimate basement wine cellar can be reserved for private parties.

The famous restaurateur, Piero Selvaggio, sent Chef Steve to work in Lazio during his formative chef years. As a tribute to his experience, Chef Steve will personally cook a multi-course, family-style dinner. Experience the camraderie of communal dining as you share stories and savor each dish. Because Chef Steve prepares and cooks each dish himself, limited seating is available. An optional wine pairing with featured wines from Lazio is available. This was a special Sicilian dinner. Food outstanding with wine pairing thoughtful . Unfortunately the outside dining was disturbed by very loud recordings from a recently opened brewery next door. Restauant moved us downstairs into room better suited for smaller group. Everyone made the most of it because a Rossoblu special dinner is something Chef Steve excels at. When there isn’t the distraction of blasting drums from the brewery pub, this is our favorite Italian restaurant

I was disappointed at this place. Pastas are done so well but everything else fell short for me. I don’t get the high rating. I ordered so much from the menu, nothing really stood out.

Booked a dinner reservation for family & friends in celebration of my husband’s graduation & we had a great experience at Rossoblu. The staff were all so welcoming and accommodating. The food didn’t take too long to come out once my party was seated. We enjoyed the calamari appetizer. Our fav dish was the Branzino w/ potatoes (highly recommend). As far as the drinks, they had great selections, my husband and I were enjoyed the mocktails. I would recommend this place for small or large groups. Great ambiance, great service & pretty good food!

It was my second visit this spring and it was excellent again. The apps, pasta, and the broth were phenomenal and the dessert (raspberry cake) was an unexpected revelation. As before, the service was friendly and easy going, and it was a pleasure to linger over drinks. Rossoblu is one of my favorite restaurants in the whole city. Bravo.

Food was wonderfully prepared and options for cocktails is upscale. The pasta options are plentiful and well prepared. Meatball appetizer has good flavor. Customer service was most impressive! Jeff, bartender, truly understands mixology and works to provide unique offerings. Servers were most attentive. Atmosphere is relaxing and positive!

It was not my first time, but first time for my friends. Great cocktails to start and then a nice flow of amazing appetizers, pizza and fish. Great portions and a great bottle of wine to match. Will certainly be back again.

We hadn’t been in awhile and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Food was great, service was friendly and skilled and the ambiance was convivial! Highly recommend!

I had been wanting to try this restaurant for some time, and last minute after an art exhibit downtown, we finally made it over. Once we got past the sketchy neighborhood, we were pleasantly surprised to find the restaurant lovely and vibrant! Our waiter was fantastic and the food absolutely delish! The chopped salad accompanied by the pizza margarita were wonderful. Topped off by the steak and those french fries with herbs and balsamic were too die for! Will definitely recommend!

One of my new favorite restaurants!! I studied abroad in Bologna, and Rossoblu brought me right back. I dined here for my birthday and the service was impeccable. Also I was pleasantly surprised by how generous the portions were! I’ll definitely be back.

The treatment we received at Rossoblu was incomparable. The warmth which we are received with is touching. Michael, the major D is always charming and affable. Matthew, our waiter was attentive, informative and unintrusive. What more could you ask for? Oh right, great food and a great atmosphere. The room is so beautiful it really elevates the dining experience. The prosciutto appetizer was top quality. You can tell from the first bite. The eggplant appetizer is something I’ve never had and hope to have many times more. It’s very light and delicious. Next, we had the fungi pizza. Mouthwatering and sumptuous. And, the tortellini in Brodo. Perfect balance of broth and pasta, stuffed with delectable morsels of meat. We split the grilled pork chop and sausage for the main. Both cooked perfection. The sausage was probably the best I’ve ever had. Then again, so was the pork chop. If I could afford to go to Rossoblu every weekend I would. For now, I’ll be sure to have reservations for every special occasion or romantic date.

Our food was extremely salty. We were extremely disappointed considering the cost. My steak, was not good. It was extremely chewy. My wife ordered the branzino was over cooked. Our mashed potatoes were beyond massed and I’d say more like baby food purée. We will not return.

This was my third time at Rossoblu and it was as lovely as ever. The food is impeccable, the drinks are delicious, and the ambience only adds to the overall experience. Would highly recommend!

Lovely place, if a bit overpriced. But then, EVERYwhere is overpriced right now. Staff was GREAT. Food was terrific. But...over $100 per person on a mid-week night is too much. Would I go again? Yes. If I'm feeling flush and out to impress. Otherwise, I'll cook for myself at home in the Valley.

The proportions are good. We got the chopped salad and it was enough for two. We got the bolonese and we split a pizza. We took home 1/2 of the pizza. I mention this because some restaurants give you a small taste of the item you ordered. All the items we ordered met our expectations for attention to detail, preparation, quality and taste. I will return for another dinner at Rossoblu.

Michael and Aldo were amazing! From the moment we walked in they greeted us and wished my husband a happy birthday. They were so attentive and made us feel very special. The food was amazing and the ambiance was very chill. It was perfect!
