Located in the historic Fulton Market district of Chicago’s West Loop neighborhood, Rose Mary is Chef/Owner Joe Flamm’s debut restaurant inspired by his Italian heritage and the bold, bright flavors of Croatian cuisine. The boisterous space—named for Flamm’s grandmothers, Mary and Mary Rose, and the herb rosemary, which grows natively along the Italian and Croatian coastlines—offers a seasonal menu of rustic yet refined dishes that encapsulate what Flamm has coined “Adriatic drinking food”.

There was a 30 minutes wait between our third and fourth course. The waiter did explain the long wait due to a private event, but when the salmon finally came out, the center was still raw and cold in the middle. Our waiter never came back around to check on us for another 25 minutes when they brought us the check so we couldn't send it back and just ate what we could.

We ordered 4 dishes, none of them good. Everything was too salty, too creamy. The zucchini fritters were over fried and with a green sauce that was also repeated with the goat cheese toast, making both taste similarly. The squid ink risotto was so heavy I could only have 2 spoonfuls. And the pasta was just as heavy. Such heavy food didn’t sit well in my stomach.

What a memorable meal! Each course was flavorful and special. Service was warmly hospitable and professional. As a fan of Chef Flamm from Top Chef, it was unsurprising to see him expediting in the open kitchen and visiting guests’ tables. This was a memorable meal that we’ll not soon forget.

Ordered 5 dishes. 3 out of 5 we'd order again 100%. The other two were decent just nothing to rave about. Overall - excellent experience and yummy tasting food.

Great over all experience but the noise level was a bit extreme, we were sat in the side dining room and there was a larger party in the corner and they were basically screaming so loudly that my partner and I couldn’t speak to one another. Not the restaurants fault but they definitely could have asked them to quiet down.

Great meal. High quality, loved all the dishes, pasta was phenomenal; Portions are good and value is good.
