Root Down and the Edible Beats Family (Root Down, Linger, Ophelias, Vital Root and El Five) are very grateful to welcome you to our restaurant.

Our menu features eclectic, globally-influenced seasonal cuisine, with a focus on organic, natural and locally-sourced ingredients.

Our interior dining space has the classic vibe of a neighborhood restaurant, while our large main patio offers picturesque views of the near neighborhood and downtown skyline.

Reservations are available online at ediblebeats.com/rootdown, as well as OpenTable. We happily accept walk-ins as availability allows.

Our space is available for private events year round, please inquire with us directly for information :)

Please be aware we are located in a residential area, and parking is available in the near neighborhood, along with a small paid-lot located directly across the street from our location.

From the moment we walked in the door until it was time to leave, my friend and I were treated with respect and courtesy from every member of the staff that we came in contact with. The food was amazing, waiting was minimal making it one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. I will definitely be recommending this establishment every chance I get.

This place has something for everyone, vegetarian, vegan, and otherwise. Every dish is made with care, cocktails are well crafted, and the desserts are very good. The staff were friendly and able to help us with separate billing for food and alcohol, and with splitting checks. This is a great place to go for a business dinner, guest in town, special occasion, or a hip dinner for two. Highly recommended.

Cisco was such a great addition to our evening and he had a ton of personality and was also super knowledgeable with the menu which was beyond refreshing. We loved our dinner experience!

Service and food were fantastic! Sat in the outdoor enclosed patio area during a really windy evening. Our server moved us twice to find a warmer spot, was helpful in making menu decisions, and was attentive throughout with bothering us. Will definitely be back!

The food here was DELICIOUS! Their friend chicken is absolutely amazing, and the Cuban Benedict is a wonderful take on the bene! Highly recommend! Only thing that wasn’t exceptional was the good temperature. When our food came out, it was barely warm 😕 As good as the good was, I can only imagine how incredible it would be at the right temp. Will go back, for sure!

Beware. The worst meal we have had in years. We came here because of amazing reviews and how celiac (gluten-free) friendly it is. On the positive side, the ambiance is great and my daughter with celiac disease felt great after leaving. On the negative side, the food was really bad. The arepas were mostly burnt cheese with some chunks of avacado. Neither person who ordered it in our party finished it because it was not good. The soup we ordered had curry on top with some inedible jelly-like substance on the bottom of the bowl. For the lamb burger, the servings were tiny - like two super small sliders as an entree. I got the bison steak and it was the best thing we got, but it was only okay. Since we were there for my birthday, we ordered two desserts - the “strawberry shortcake” and the “banana cream pie.” Both were almost not edible and we did not finish them. The main flavor of the banana dessert was “burnt” and came served on some flavorless grey paste that was visually unnerving. The “strawberry shortcake”, was nothing close to what you would expect. It was a 1/2 baseball sized ball of goat cheese coated in an off-putting red shell that made it look like 1/2 a tomato. The strawberry and cake part were almost non existent with three tiny pieces of cake and some mushed up strawberries that looked more like cooked cherry tomatoes. Moreover, the people around us also looked like they did not like their food.

I love love love this restaurant. Yesterday was my first in-person experience there but my third day straight of eating Root Down meals. I have many food sensitivities and really like to eat clean, organic food. Root Down checks all the boxes - the wait staff and Uber eats menu allow you to drill down and communicate any allergies AND the food is to die for delicious. Plus the atmosphere is great. Very original decorations made from repurposed objects. Minimal noise levels. You can actually have a nice conversation! As I said - absolutely LOVED it. Please open a branch in DC! 😊😊😊
