Taking his passion and the experience he gained staging at Picholine in NYC and Madrona Manor in Napa along with his work at Brennan’s, Haven, Soma and most recently as consulting Chef for Saint Genevieve in West Ave, at 26-years-old Kevin Naderi opened his first restaurant, Roost in December, 2011. Roost’s 50-seat space is cozy and unpretentious amid walls paneled with old shutters and Edison-like light fixtures fashioned from gutter drains. Roost’s rustic and diverse menu is revised every three weeks, inspired by local availability of farm-fresh seasonal ingredients and flavors of the world including the American south, Asia and from the Middle East, taking advantage of Naderi’s Persian heritage. Says Naderi, “I’ve taken a little bit from everywhere I’ve worked. It’s a good showcase for what we do.”

Always great We’re regulars at Roost because of the food, service and location. As a neighborhood restaurant Roost is cozy and welcoming. The regularly changing menu always has some new combination at a reasonable price. We always bring our out of town friends here. Well done Chef Kevin and crew!

Food was ok, nothing extraordinary. Different is necessarily better. Steak came out raw not medium as ordered. Replacement came out well done. No pink. Chicken skewers were over cooked and dry. Passed on desert after disappointing main course. Service was good.

The salmon was wonderful as was the chocolate cake. Abbey, our server, was excellent. Polite, attentive and knowledgeable regarding the menu.

First time at Roost and we loved it! The fried cauli was amazing, but we expected that as it had apparently been a staple menu item for 12 years. Spicy lamb kabob was super tender and yummy. I will say my partner ordered the chicken and she was let down with her meal, there was some small bones in the chicken and she said our meals looked and tasted a lot better. Overall we would go back and id highly encourage this place for the intimate atmosphere and farm to table cuisine.

Always a fabulous experience. Excellent service (thank you Andy) and we love the food especially the fried cauliflower with pine nuts, the bread service with pimento cheese, the salmon, the burger and the chicken and gnocchi dumplings.

Fried cauliflower is to die for. Crunchy oysters and mole tostadas were excellent. Bread service's low dough huge pretzel with two butters and pimento cheese is shareable and fun. Coffee and donut holes good as usual. Lamb kebabs were just ok, just meatballs, need more flavor. Great restaurant, great items to try and share with friends. Great wine prices for happy hour, all wine and beer (except sparkling) is 30% off.

Great food and service - the ambiance is nice because it is not a large space. Even when full the noise level is manageable and early evenings the noise level is very workable. The menu is small, but they do everything on it well.

This was the WORST experience and ruined our celebration of 2 birthdays. We were very excited to try Roost and it did not even come close to being a nice dinner. When we arrived we were seated and completely ignored for at least 10 minutes. Nothing. We ordered the bread service (pretzel) but couldn’t order wine for a while because our waitress would keep disappearing or not look our direction. We got the stuffed mushrooms and they were okay but very oily. It took a long time to get our waitress’ attention to finally order entrees but we had the duck breast and 3 gnocchi’s. When the plates arrived, only 3 came and my meal wasn’t there. The waitress gave my dad a knife for his duck and disappeared. No fork. Everyone wanted to wait for my plate so theirs got cold in the meantime. I had to physically get up and walk over to the bar where the waitress was standing and get a fork so my dad could try a bite of his food while they waited for my plate. His duck was completely hard and tough. Terrible. What was crazy is I told the waitress I needed my plate and my guests were waiting for me, but she continued to deliver plates to other tables and didn’t even make it a priority. The waitress comes back about 10 minutes later with my plate and said they only placed the order for 3 entrees and the kitchen got my plate order after another table. How would that even happen?! I had to send back the duck breast for my dad which took forever to wait for another dish. We asked for the check and didn’t even get an entree comped, which at the very least should have taken place. When we paid, I told the waitress that it was sad that we were celebrating 2 birthdays and it wasn’t even acknowledged. She said “oh yeah, I saw the notes about that. What- did you want a dessert?” She said they usually bring a dessert with a candle complimentary. We had already paid and said no at that point. This was beyond shameful and a TERRIBLE experience. We will never ever be back.

This is a very good place to gave a great dinner. Small dining room, in a quiet neighborhood. Menu changes up every few months, so always new items to try. Food is very good and pries reasonable.

Great neighborhood restaurant with the best staff! Took my in-laws here for dinner and they loved everything! The bread service is my favorite thing but everything here is so tasty. Worth every penny and we always take food home because the portions are big!
