Roka Akor brings an innovative combination of contemporary Robata Japanese cuisine and stunning design to six locations across the U.S., including Scottsdale, San Francisco, Houston, Chicago, Skokie, and Oak Brook, IL.
Roka Akor’s principle Robata Japanese cuisine is prepared on a twelve-foot robata grill that uses mesquite charcoal and almond wood with flames that can raise temperatures up to 1,900 degrees. The restaurant’s name is derived from two words: RO and KA. The meaning of the first word is hearth, a gathering place where people socialize and take in the ambience; the latter stands for a burning fire and projecting energy. In alignment with the restaurant’s name, Roka Akor’s design features a centrally located robata grill that provides the heart of the visual experience, surrounded by rich wood décor and sleek lighting. Guests are encouraged to speak with the chefs about the food to create an interactive and engaging dining experience.

I met a girlfriend there for dinner and the music and ambiance was good but the food was some of the blandest, overpriced food I’ve ever had at a restaurant. 2 sushi rolls and a steak (to go) with a glass of wine cost me over $100. The rolls had no flavor and the 8 oz skirt steak I got to go came with no sides and also had no flavor. Where are all of the seasonings and sides?? I maybe would go back for drinks in the future but that is it.

This rating is based on the service primarily. The food was decent but not worth the price when you factor in the horrible service provided by our server. He was so bad that we had to ask every other server who passed for assistance because he was non existent at our table. I wouldn’t go back solely based on the poor service. The food wasn’t anything to write home about either, considering the price. Stinks because I’ve enjoyed the Roka Akor in the city many times.

High end food in an unusual Mall setting. Our service was terrific, prices are high, but you definately get what you pay for. Blue Fin Tuna Flight ($48) was the very best tuna I've ever had, and that's saying something.

My husband and I came here for the first time to celebrate our anniversary and will definitely be back. Our server was friendly, knowledgable, and attentive and we ordered the pork belly appetizer; wagyu beef, black cod, and rice hot pot for entrees; and ginger spice cake and ube pot de creme for dessert - everything was absolutely delicious!

We were celebrating our son’s birthday so took him and his girlfriend to dinner. We had the grilled pork belly and crispy squid for appetizers. The cocktails were delicious. We had a dragon roll and and smoked salmon roll. Then for dinner I had the blackened cod ( melts in your mouth), my som had the sea bass and his girlfriend and my husband had fillet steaks. For dessert we never leave without getting the ube pot de crème and this time had chocolate cake. We had a lively red wine with dinner as well. Our service was great. The food and drink delicious! Definitely will be going back.

Delicious food, nice ambiance and aesthetic, friendly staff, but noise level is not the best. It gets pretty loud and it can be difficult to hold a conversation due to noise level. If you’re looking for a quieter setting, this might not be the best place

Tasting menu for 6 people took 3 hours - no one came to our table first 20 minutes - forgot drinks several times. Same food as for 2 people. $900 bill waitor was awful, involved manager who didn’t do much other than send 3 rice pots to table. This was our favorite restaurant until last night we loved tasting menu for 2 in past, will not be coming back. Really upset with lack of service. Mistakes happen, waitors get busy, but this was unacceptable.

This was our first time here and it definitely didn't disappoint!! It was truly phenomenal!! Our server, Matt was so knowledgeable, so attentive, so kind!! The managers made sure we loved everything and we did!!! Cocktails, wine, hot and cold shareables, sushi, desserts were all so very good!!!

My 2nd time here and so far consistent! We started with prawn tempura which had light and crisp coating. The wagyu dumplings are delicious! My husband loved the American waygu sirloin with bone marrow, melts in your mouth. Loved the scallop roll had a lovely fresh taste. The spicy tuna roll was also very good. Saved room for dessert…warm chocolate cake with vanilla bean ice cream and the mango sorbet satisfies your sweet tooth! Will add to my list of favorite restaurants in the area!

The experience at Roka Akor was amazing. Lee, our server, was funny, energetic, and nice. The sushi was delicious. The ambiance beautiful. The service was stellar. My goddaughters loved the experience. They will definitely come back. The wagyu beef dumplings and the fried calamari was exceptional.

Service was wonderful, zero complaints about that. Quality of the fish is subpar at best. Nigiri wasn't fresh unfortunately. Hopefully it was just an off night...

Loved Roka - great server , great food , great host .loved the grilled veggie roll and the roasted beet salad - try a Roka Fashion( old fashion ) def coming back !
