The food was nicely presented and absolutely delicious. Portion sizes were good. The view over the harbour perfect. Attentive staff, mostly excellent. Venue was full so was rather noisy.

This was mine and my husband's first time at Rocksalt. The staff were extremelu friendly and helpful, the chef went out if his way to ensure our food was cooked to our liking. We were so impressed and really enjoyed our meal, I had the lemon sole and my husband had the ribeye steak. The view across the harbour was lovely. We will definitely be coming back next time we are visiting Folkestone.

Amazing setting on a sunny day, absolutely stunning view from the balcony. Service was pretty patchy, maybe because we were sitting outside, but even in arrival, we were kept waiting at the reception desk for a while even tho there seemed to be plenty of staff. Food was delicious

A lovely day by the seaside and a table for two overlooking a turquoise blue harbour. The young staff could not have been more attentive and our two mains hit the spot. The wine list could be a bit more eclectic but, all-in-all, we enjoyed a great lunch. Every seaside town should have a Rock Salt.

Lovely Sunday Lunch. We were greeted by staff and made to feel welcome. Quality of food excellent, service good, full on pricing but reflected in the quality of food, service and ambience - we will be back.

Food was excellent but waited a hour for two cooked breakfasts to come out. There was 16 customers in the restaurant so wasn’t busy. Waitress very nice and kept apologising.

Unfortunately was so noisy we were shouting all evening. Very irritating. Service was very slow and some confusion about orders which delayed things further. We all said we wouldn’t rush back.

So after receiving a credit for 3 main courses a bottle of wine and the offer of free desserts I was then given a voucher for £50.00 against a future visit. I tore this up and left it on the the table… that’s how good this dining experience was…

The food was sensational - we had the cheese soufflé and the hot seafood platter. However, it was let down by the slow service - despite numerous staff running around. Aperitifs arrived after the starter had arrived and it took around 75 mins for the main course to arrive. A glass of wine ordered had to be prompted for again. When the bill came we had to go to the bar to pay because it was taking too long. Being honest I pointed out that they needed to add the cost of a glass of wine that had been missed off the bill. To 'reward' my honesty I was charged more for the glass of wine than the menu showed. Luckily the quality of the food balanced off the poor service

Although we booked the 3 course lunch menu on 4th May for our visit on 10th May, and had email confirmation, we were told when seated at 12.45 that the lunch menu was not available and had finished in April! Only the a la carte or very limited evening menu was available for lunch. The service before ordering and after ordering was very slow, we waited more than an hour after arriving to being served our food and drinks. And no mention of my aunts 99th birthday which we had written about when we booked. The view from our table was wonderful though.

Rocksalt is in a picturesque location overlooking the harbour and the Dover Straits beyond. Great views in any weather. The food is high quality, local and beautifully presented. Lunch or dinner here is not cheap but you get what you pay for. An exceptional experience.

A tranquil setting, very helpful, welcoming and friendly staff, The Romney Marsh lamb main was just cooked to perfection. Would recommend this 100%. however let down by large bland putrid looking risotto and sides of large solid carrots. In other meals. Pudding very plain. And a very long wait between dishes.

We have been before and like the restaurant’s situation. Shame it was too chilly to sit outside but inside by the sliding windows was fine. Bit disappointed that the set menu was not available which made the meal more expensive but it was very enjoyable. Quality of food was excellent…as was the service

We had a lovely meal which we all enjoyed. Great service and professional help regarding food allergies. Only complaint was that we were expecting the set menu, which is advertised on your website, nonetheless it was a great way to celebrate a special birthday.

If you have watched Hells Kitchen well this restauant would most probably be there at the top. What a shame food was good. But severely let down by the front of house team who were an absolute joke. Waiting for a table waiting to order drinks, waiting an unacceptable amount of time to receive drinks. Wine came first 20 minutes later beers arrived. When ordering another 2 beers again waiting at least 25 minutes probably longer. Food service again waiting, to the point when your considering whether to go. We would have without doubt left. This was bank holiday Monday and our first time in Folkestone. It was my sons birthday we had little choice other than to stay. When food arrived it was not served together so my partner and sons food was cold waiting for mine and my daughters to be served. Quality of food was good but unfortunately not offered any condements. Staff disappeared. I like horseradish with my beef after several requests and now beef cold finally it arrived. We made a complaint and the manager said he was going to organise a birthday cake for my boy. Which we declined as we did not want to wait AGAIN. The manager insisted that as he wanted to make good of the situation we again sat waiting with no drinks. Well we waited and waited and guess what we gave up. The cake never came. Fantastic. The restaurant was very busy however 2 waiting staff members were trying to put birthday banners together on a table. This must have been going on for at least 60 minutes. Whilst other staff were sweating. Glasses being broken it was like watching Fawlty Towers. Banner still not put together customer arrives with her family clearly very disappointed as the table was mot ready for I think, daughters 21st. A roast dinner at 28.00 is not cheap. 1 piece of meat one chargrilled cabbage leaf, 1 carrott, 3 potatoes 1 Yorkshire. At this price I expect a half decent service. Such a shame we came a long way to come to this restaurant for my sons birthday.

Overall we had a lovely time at Rocksalt, it’s in a great spot overlooking the harbour and the interior setting is modern and elegant. Unfortunately there were a few niggles that detracted from the dining experience. My husband ordered the prawns for a starter which were not de-veined, which when we questioned were told was intentional, however made for a very fiddly, unpleasant eating experience (especially as no finger bowl was provided). Our mains were delicious, though again the skate was served on the bone which felt a bit lazy. In general, while the staff were friendly and pleasant, the level of service was well below what you would expect from a restaurant at this price point. I.e no real welcome, no explanation of menu and not very attentive. Would recommend for setting and quality - just be sure to ask questions about the dishes.

Lovely location overlooking the harbour. Friendly and efficient staff. Food mostly excellent with the exception of the pudding (salted caramel tart), which was dreadful.

Great food as expected in a relaxed atmosphere overlooking the harbour. A gem in Folkestone with a good range of local seafood and fresh produce. Thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful new season asparagus and seafood platter.

We have visited this restaurant on numerous occasions since 2017 and it never ceases to impress us. The staff are brilliant, friendly attentive and professional. The food is exceptional- the fish soup and Dover Sole absolutely top quality. The view over the harbour and out to the sea through huge windows is breathtaking. We will return again soon. And again and again etc.

I love going to Rocksalt but this meal was outstanding ,the most beautiful fish .i have ever tasted,sea bream stuffed with herbs and lemon in a cream sauce with caviar.The chef had managed to remove the bones from the whole fish which I would love to be able to do!the experience of beautiful moist fish and explosive caviar was divine,really needed no accompaniment but as I love Rocksalt,s chips I had a portion.Followed this with the chocolate mousse,second time of ha I g and just as good. Staff there are great and very attentive and friendly what is not go love!

Lovely meal for my birthday. My wife felt her food was a little too salty for her taste. The service was a patchy varying from excellent to a bit in-between which was surprising as it was relatively quiet. There were no Chicken dishes on the menu which is a good option for many people. We went upstairs to the bar afterwards and continued to enjoy what was a great afternoon and early evening.
