Ambience is great here. Unfortunately let down by the service, advised at the time of ordering that sandos weren’t available rather than from when we were seated. Unclear whether they’re going to make a comeback either. Service wasn’t great. Karaage chicken was quite tough. Gyoza was ok.

Had a great night! I booked for 6 pax for my birthday and we had an extra person who the staff were able to accommodate. Food is absolutely amazing, drinks selection is superb. I recommend trying everything if you can - I’ll be coming back for repeat visits to get through the whole menu. The staff are lovely and their attention to customer service is top notch. The music choices are perfect and the vibe is vibin.

Unfortunately, the service we received was really disappointing, from having to wave down someone to be served, items not being available and only being informed after we’d ordered, finishing my meal before my friend received their order, having to make multiple enquiries to the status of our drink order, to receiving luke-warm food. I felt embarrassed for having selected to dine here for lunch with a friend.

First time coming to Rising Sun and honestly the entire experience was incredible, we sat on the lounge on a Sunday night and it was the most chill homey vibe, staff were incredible, food was 👌 and the fact that it's a functioning motorbike garage where the wrench on some beautiful bikes just adds to the entire vibe. Cannot recommend this place enough.

Our main reason for choosing to eat here was the ability to choose gluten free food. No issues for the Coeliac diner at all. Food tasty.

Very friendly and attentive staff. Pork was soft and melt—in-the-mouth. I liked the soft boiled egg too. We ordered three bowls of ramen.

Took more than an hour to serve 2 ramens, 1 gyoza and 1 karaage. Ramen didn’t taste good. We really had a bad experience that night

Booked for a table at 8:00 AM on Sunday. We waited outside until 8:40 AM, and they still didn’t open. They also were not answering their phones.

Unfortunately we were given dried, hard and cold rice as a part of the pork belly dish we ordered. Not sure how long the rice was sitting out for before it came to us and it was obviously the burn bottle bit from the rice cooker. Parts of the rice were hardened into the shape of the rice cooker. Disappointing as rice is not a difficult dish to cook

The customer service was excellent, the staff were lovely and incredibly accommodating of our dietary requirements and also the hot weather (they sat us under the air-con which was so appreciated!). The food was delicious, we’d been craving kaarage and ramen, which are hard to find gluten free, and both were fantastic and near indistinguishable from normal!

Much rather being served by a human as opposed to ordering off an app. Not being able to ask questions about an item was difficult. The food however was great!

It was the first time sitting down to Ramen (I normally just get coffee) and I must say that I was not disappointed. The meal was delicious and the staff were very polite and conversational. We chose to sit downstairs near the workshop and it wasn’t noisy at all but as bike enthusiasts, we enjoyed looking at all the bikes and goings on in the workshop while we were having our meal. The GnG was really refreshing also! Will definitely be making this my regular go to.

Dined with 2 had a bowl of of lightness and dark + karaage chicken. Karaage was interesting with house mayo with a bit of chilli / siratcha type sauce. Lightness was very salty so be aware of this as the lightness relates to the colour not the broth. Darkness has an amazing combination of rich soy and smoky pork and was delicious and noodles had a nice texture. On the darkness ordered extra menma and soy eeg and the bowl came with a whole onsen tamago plus half a soy egg. Wait staff explained the darkness comes with onsen standard and extra egg ia only half. Found that odd as expectva full egg when adding extras not a half.. others may not feel the same but to this diners these little things matter when charging a premium. For me that gets a downvote on value.

👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼 Had lunch at Rising Sun Workshop in Newtown with a big group of us for a special occasion, which was unfortunately ruined by the lack of service and extremely long unexplained wait for ramen. 1 hour wait between the 2 bowls of ramen was unreasonable. The waiter shrugged when we asked about the wait time and just walked away. It could’ve changed the experience if the staff weren’t so rude, especially when the ramen was not worth the wait. We are disappointed as we’re returning customers and had a terrible experience.

Everything was superb! The broth on the darkness ramen was life changing, so many rich flavors - tofu was another favourite. The mushrooms could stand to be more moist. Our waiter was incredible, loved our chats and recommendations about going to Japan next year. Well done guys, highlight of our trip :)

Great start to the meal with a grapefruit G&T and a negroni with a touch of a special blood orange syrup made by our very helpful waiter. Amazing entrees of sashimi and a new dish of king mushroom with a spicy creamy sauce, both delicious. Hard to beat the ramen here, both the Dark and the Light are awesome. Be cautious with your ordering, as the ramen is very filling!

Disappointed for a hatted restaurant, the speciality is ramen however the light ramen i had, had so much bamboo shoot in it, at least 20 pieces and the ramen itself had a strange texture aldente but raw flour taste. The broth itself was delicious but the star of the dish was not good. My partners ramen was the same.

Rising Sun was a fantastic space which has an interesting twist with the workshop on the ground floor. The food was great and had good coeliac options.
