Riccardo a commencé sa carrière très jeune dans le prestigieux « GIRARROSTO », le restaurant familial à Milan. Puis, en 1982, il a déménagé aux États-Unis et a ouvert le célèbre Sonny Bono's à Los Angeles. En 1987, il a d'abord travaillé avec son cousin Roberto Ruggeri (gérant du Venture Bice) et ouvert avec lui le Bice New York, à Los Angeles, ainsi que de nombreux autres restaurants dans le monde entier. Aujourd'hui, après trois ans en tant que chef exécutif du Bice à Chicago, il a décidé, avec sa femme (et sous-chef), Veronica, et sa cousine (serveuse), Barbara, d'utiliser son art culinaire et sa créativité dans son restaurant baptisé à son nom : le « Riccardo Trattoria ». Grâce au savoir-faire d'un connaisseur de la cuisine italienne, les plats sont préparés avec une essentialité quasi zen qui a façonné la vie professionnelle et existentielle de Riccardo.

We had a great meal at Riccardo. All 4 diners in my party opted for the early bird menu. 3 choices x 4 meals and every one was great! Service was excellent also--always available but didn't bug us. This was our first trip to the restaurant, but certainly won't be our last! Many more menu options to try.

Fabulous service, great suggestions that were spot on! The food is incredible, true Italian quality! We celebrated 2 birthdays that the restaurant comped two desserts for us! We were touched by their generosity!

The food was excellent and reasonably priced (especially with early bird special). The service was also really fast. We were in and out for a 3 course meal in under an hour. Cute atmosphere, would definitely go again!

Riccardo is a go to place for me never having had a bad meal there. I usually have the saltimbocca but made a change last evening to one of the specials, veal with mushrooms. The dish was outstanding, and the morels were delicious. It was served with a wonderful creamy risotto. I would hope the chef no would keep this dish on the menu.

I ate here 10 yrs ago… calamari was so memorable I knew I’d make it back someday. My husband and I planned this quick trip to Chicago and I immediately made my Riccardo Trattoria reservation! Did not disappoint! The calamari is the best (soaked in milk for 24 hrs which I learned 10 yrs ago). This restaurant is a gem. The early bird special was a wonderful surprise. The food and service were exceptional.

This is one of my favorite Italian Restaurants in Chicago. The Menu is very authentic and the food is well prepared. The wine list is appropriately Italian. Our server was excellent. I had Veal Piccata and a side of grilled vegetables and my husband had Branzino and a side of Pasta. Both were excellent. We shared a bottle of Cesari Repasso Bosan. The downside of the experience was that the restaurant has grown in popularity since I first began eating there and it is now VERY loud, to the point of not being able to talk to each other. Unfortunately, we were seated on the aisle and the table behind me was so close the persons leaving and arriving were bumping my chair. Our reservation was at a busy time so next time, I plan to go earlier! I am glad they are having such a booming business but for me I preferred it when it was more quiet and romantic.

Wonderful food! Perfect minestrone and pesto tofe my companions had bronzino and halibut and veal parmigiana all pleased and impressed. Raisin ricotta cheese cake subtle nice. All in all a great place lovely low key sharp and efficient service. I am a repeat customer

Absolutely most incredible Italian i’ve had in a long time. Seafood Risotto was amazing, beef carpaccio and tuna tare tare was fantastic, lobster ravioli was stunning, everything was authentic, restaurant was very intimate great vibes. The bread before the meal was so good we ate 3 baskets. I truly cannot speak enough great words about this place. The tiramisu to finish it off… ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!

The atmosphere is simple and classy with white tablecloths, candles, flowers, and large classic prints of avian art. The staff is warm and polite from entry to table. Wait staff is cordial, knowledgeable, and efficient. Wines are excellent, food menu extensive but not overwhelming, with many unique offerings. While prices are not low, there were early evening specials that included choices for three courses at a very reasonable price. Three of the four of us chose from that menu and all were well pleased. All in all, we considered this restaurant a great find, and we’ll go back and recommend it to our discerning family and friends.

Legitimate Italian food, still as delicious as it was when it opened. Took our now 19 year old son for the first time and he said “this was one of the best meals of my life”. Glad to see that we brought him up with a great sense of food. Thanks Riccardo!

I had a French 77(no gin) to start. It was yummy. Next the 3 of us shared the truffle topped burrata which was to die for. My entree was the veal ravioli in a cream sauce—amazing. My so ordered the carbonara, which I sampled; quite good. His girlfriend had the bolognese, which she thoroughly enjoyed that night, and again the next day. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Cozy, sophisticated space, authentic, delicious food, helpful, professional service.... What's not to like? The tables are a little too close together, maybe. It's not cheap. And truth be told, we loved, loved, loved our appetizers (zucchini flowers, soup, and arancini) but thought one of our three entrees (the lobster pasta) and the arugula salad were a little bland. But we'd definitely return.

The food and wine were excellent. We had a couple of glasses of the Tuscan blend and it was great. We started the meal with the arancini Siciliani fritti. The rice balls are served with a bolognese sauce and stuffed with mozzarella. I had the grilled octopus. Now I am not a big fan of pesto sauce, but theirs was another level. My wife had Fettuccini Aragosta. The pasta is homemade and it came with a big lobster tail and diavolo sauce. We topped off the meal with probably the best tiramisu we have ever tasted and I am not kidding. Our waiter, Theo, was great...friendly and knowledgable.

We were looking for a new great, small Italian restaurant with a neighborhood feel. We found it all at Riccardo's. Prices modest (including the wine list which was not extensive, but adequate). Food very nicely done - for entrees we had beef short ribs and osso bucco. Tender and sauces very flavorful. The risotto was creamy, but the grains were perfectly al dente. The stuffed zucchini blossom appetizer and the pumpkin ravioli course were delicious - pasta very tender. We will be going back and taking "the family." It is worth a try if you are in the Lincoln Park area - or worth a drive.

This is one of our favorites. Always delicious authentic italian fare in a small, elegant setting. The staff are extremely kind and take wonderful care of their guests. They all do a wonderful job and are very responsive.
