Located just a few meters from the Duomo in Florence, Regina Bistecca is a restaurant dedicated to the true “bistecca alla fiorentina” and traditional Florentine food culture.
For over 140 years the same address has been the location for the antiquarian bookseller Gonnelli, which has been in the same family for four generations and has now relocated.
Although nowadays offering something different, the objective was to preserve and maintain the unique atmosphere of a historical place in which to offer a gratifying experience merging food, art, and history.

The best meal I’ve had in Florence. I needed to have a bistecca fiorentina before leaving and was not disappointed. The pre-fixe option was also a great deal!

Decidedly poor experience here. Stay away. How this place is ranked within the top 100 steak restaurants in the world is beyond me. Complete tourist trap. Higher than average cover charge. I do not say this lightly but the skill of the cooking staff appears to be quite substandard. Meat quality looked promising when they presented the raw steaks to the table. Everything was downhill from there. The waiter recommended we order one chianina steak and also an even more ‘premium’ steak from another part of Italy which was 30% more expensive than even the chianina. As this was going to be the one time we had Bistecca alla Fiorentina during our entire trip we trusted the waiter and went with his recommendation. But the ‘premium’ steak that landed on our tables had too much gristle and was actually significantly worse in flavor and texture than the chianina steak. We also had some of their side dishes - salad, roast potatoes, grilled vegetables - each was below average. No care in the cookery or the presentation. Honestly looked like airplane food. We asked the restaurant to charge two credit cards for the bill because our party was two families traveling together. They charged one card twice, which caused the card owner some alarm a few days later. I have never had that happen in all my dining experiences. In the end, we paid an excessive price for a meal that left us feeling like we got scammed, and I personally felt completely embarrassed and apologized to the other family for suggesting we go to this restaurant.

This restaurant should be your choice if you only have one dinner in Florence. The Bistecca Chianinna was superb!! The Tuscan appetizer tasting before dinner was also wonderful. Excellent wine list. Service was extraordinary.

Amazing service and amazing steak! Our server took us through the different breeds of cow and all the appropriate wine pairings, very informative. Every detail made a meal an experience, would recommend to a friend.

Went there for the Bisteca and we ended up having the best steak ever. Beautifully cooked, rare on the inside, but intensely flavorful. The service was excellent and attentive. Desserts and wine were excellent too.

Amazing steak and experience. Our favorite dinner in Florence. Our party of 7 had our own private floor upstairs and it was wonderful.
