Dining at RED O is an experience like no other that offers a unique combination of Prime Steak and Seafood with Rick Bayless’ signature Mexican inspired influences. With sustainably sourced and local ingredients, RED O creates flavorful dishes true to the authentic flavors of Mexico. RED O’s team of friendly employees creates a welcoming atmosphere that parallels the luxury resort interior of the restaurant. Atmosphere is beautiful. Service was good. Shrimp ceviche-D, no flavor, dry. Queso fundido-A Sunburn cocktail-A+, just right amount of sweet and spice Shorten enchiladas-A Sea bass-A+ Churros-B I would return for the sea bass and the sunburn, both excellent.

We’ve enjoyed Red O for as long as it’s been opened. Rick Bayless is the Best Chef on the planet. A small concern but I will mention it. We made reservations and were expecting to sit in the dining room. Unfortunately unknown to us the main dining room was closed and they sat us in the bar. The issue is that the bar seating area was not nearly as comfortable as the dining room. I wish I had known this when making reservations. Oh well. Service was excellent by the way. The food was delicious for me but my wife ordered the short rib tacos. Unfortunately the tortillas were very tough and crunchy and so crunchy that it actually cut the roof or Her mouth. The Taco filling was also very tasteless. In conclusion I wouldn’t take the above issues as a sea change. I pray that it’s a temporary issue.

I had chilaquiles with Asada And the salsa was delicious. And the Asada was in big chunk of meat but they were tender and juicy. I recommend ordered a mimosa and Sangria. The sangria was well balanced between wine and alcohol that lets you enjoy the fruity taste.

What an amazing experience celebrating our anniversary at Red O. We had such a great time. Food was amazing and the service was even better. Dillon made our experience that much better.

My son loves Mexican food. So I took him here for his birthday. It’s a nice, “fancy” way to eat Mexican food. Even though we live in a city full of Fast Food Mexican Restaurants, it was nice to sit down and be served. The food and service was great. Friendly and attentive staff. A bit pricey for Mexican Food, especially if you’re used to eating at one of the many fast food Mexican restaurants in the city. But you won’t get the fancy cocktails and service at a fast food restaurant. We were there on a Thursday night. So, it wasn’t overly crowded. The office complex next to the restaurant has a very nice common area with waterfalls and ponds and seating. Parking is slightly further away, if you are not able to walk far. But there is valet parking, if desired. I would definitely come here again.

We went to La Jolla Village to meet some friends and are familiar with the restaurant in Newport Beach. Atmosphere and service were excellent. The food was mediocre. I ordered the Sizzling Fajitas with Shrimp and Carne Asada. I have previously had this dish. The meat was very overdone and hard to chew. Otherwise, a pleasant experience. You can do better.

When you walk in the restaurant’s high ceiling and wide walk ways, with warm lighting decor it feels very inviting. Then you get to the booths and the seats had splits in them from wear and tear. However the server was cheerful and very attentive. The food was just lacking all the way around. The enchiladas were not very good, and the sauce was bland. There are so many places better than that restaurant.

Made my dad’s bday extra special. Placed a happy birthday card on the table when we arrived. I have never seen a restaurant do that before.

We took some friends last night it was their first time at your restaurant and they loved it. The service , pacing of the food and food all great . No complaints . Love your restaurant!

We celebrated our anniversary there and ir was a great experience.. It was our first time, and our waiter Omar made sure we were very well taken care of.. Will definitely be visiting again..

Quality food with decent prices. The atmosphere was calm with dimmed lighting and mild noise. The service was outstanding with the wait staff being very attentive and courteous. Definitely would dine there again!

I had heard the chicken tortilla soup was delicious so was happy to go to Red O for the first time. Although I liked the soup, it did have a different flavor profile but my husband was not fond of it. The chips were good but the salsa was a bit on the spicy side. My husband ordered the short rib enchiladas and I got the enchilada trip. The enchiladas were full of meat! Again, my husband was not fond of the flavor profile of the sauce and felt it was similar to the soup. My enchiladas were good but not great. All In all the food was good but not great but the service and ambience were phenomenal.

The restaurant space is beautiful. The menu is pretty good and we had nice food. The server was completely uninterested. We felt hurried to order, asked multiple times if we wanted to go boxes when we were clearly still eating and then our bill was delivered to our table without him ever asking if we wanted dessert, coffee, drinks. I had to wave him down several times to refill my water. I'd understand if we were lounging at the table all night and they needed to turn the tables for more customers, but this wasn't the case. I rarely ever leave reviews and when I do, it's because some part of the service was just plain lousy which this was.

It seems many really like the red o, but we were not among them. The food was so spicy we could not eat it. The drinks were lacking in flavor and more expensive than other restaurants in the area. The service was slow, but as I said it was crowded. WE won’t be back, but go and judge for yourself.

Great place for a birthday brunch with family & friends. The staff was great with taking our orders and drinks. Bringing out the cake with candles was a nice touch.

Very good food portions, the service was amazing, and VERYYYYY TASTY! I’m a Latina and usually Mexican restaurants don’t serve tasty food, this place is another level of perfection when it comes to Mexican gastronomy! I totally recommend it 🙌🏻

The restaurant is beautiful with very reasonable valet parking The food service ambience beverages are 10 out of 10. This was the best Mexican food I’ve had in my life and I’m 71 years old.

Always a good meal with beautiful surroundings however we did wait to be asked about our drink order for a very long time we got seated quickly, was given water and chips. The waiter never returned. In fact, a different waiter came back and was good

I came in last night for my birthday & it was amazing. Ambience was amazing, great views & low lighting to set the mood for dinner. Perfect place to celebrate a special occasion & they go above & beyond to personalize your experience 10/10 i would definitely recommend

I was searching for a new date spot and came across Red O. After reading a few reviews my wife and I decided to give it a try and I am so glad we did! The atmosphere was great, the service was friendly and our waiter (wish I could remember his name) was AMAZING! The food was absolutely INCREDIBLE. I do need to mention we got the most expensive thing on the menu the Tablita. It was so good that we will be back for it again and again and again. Loved everything about this place although I would say it is a bit on the pricey side.

My boyfriend and I celebrated our anniversary here and it was amazing! They gave us sparklers and even a free desert to celebrate. The food was outstanding and would love to come again!

I had a great experience at this RED O. I celebrated my 10 year anniversary and the service was impeccable, food tasty, great vibe and ambience! I highly recommend if you like mexican food and enjoy tequila!

This was my second visit and I enjoyed myself again. Great service provided by Reina 5⭐️ An area of opportunity is get bigger tables. We were seated at a small circle table and wasn’t fun at all. My friend and I both ordered fajitas plate and had drinks and it felt like we didn’t have any space to order anything else. I’ll definitely be back food, drinks and vibes were great!

Holy S***! Red O is the best kept secret in San Diego dining. Their prime steaks with smoky chipotle crema & cotija mashed potatoes were worth every $, as was their passion fruit butter cake with coconut crumble and ice cream. Hamachi agua chile and salmon with cauliflower bacon risotto also were amazing. In a beautiful ambiance classic tacos and enchiladas looked a bit more $ than usual, so we decided we may as well try the premium plates. We were absolutely thrilled with the steak and seafood dishes. If you’re looking for more affordable options their queso fundido with chorizo & house made corn tortillas, sweet plantains, and Tijuana style caesar with shrimp were delicious also. To drink, skip the creative mixes and stick with the classic & skinny margaritas just make sure to choose a smooth anejo tequila upgrade. Their table side tequila cart is a blast! Of course high end tequila isn’t cheap. Try it, you’ll like it! We can’t thank Red O enough for a spectacular dinner. During a time when even decent service is increasingly uncommon, their team was impeccable with every detail. Jose was a rockstar! We will be back.

Our waiter was the best, Joey. Helped us make an amazing delicious choice for main course. My hat off to the cook who cooked my ribeye to perfect.
