Wonderful dining experience. They were able to accommodate my gluten free requests while still making the experience enjoyable for everyone in the party. The service was impeccable, and the food was delicious. This meal was in my top five best in Austin.

My husband and I had waited a long time to go to Red Ash after hearing about it for years. Frankly it was a "scene". The noise level was so loud. The portion sizes were way too big. The clams were good but a little chewy. We were offered bread for dipping. It came back with a mountain of garlic and pesto on top which overwhelmed the clam sauce. The beef bruschetta was like a large Philly cheesesteak. Way too much going on and way too big. The gnocchi was way too soft and the dish was mostly just melted cheese. Our waiter was very attentive and the cocktails were nice. Been there, done that and no need to return.

Since I was not able to secure a coveted reservation, I placed my name on the waitlist. As luck would have it, a time slot became available and I booked it! Our server, Zach, was very helpful in recommending everything from drinks, appetizers, pastas, entrees to even desserts. He paced our dishes and we never felt rushed. The roasted tomatoes and burrata were excellent however the star of the appetizers were the squash blossoms. They were perfectly season and lightly battered. The osso buco was flavorful and the meat was tender. Fresh made pastas, agnolotti and spaghettini alle vongole were delicious. Best dessert was the olive oil cake. It was moist and paired well with the accompaniments of pistachios, golden raisins in marsala and orange zest. We really enjoyed our meal and would highly recommend the restaurant to our friends visiting Austin.

What a wonderful restaurant. Very authentic dishes, expertly prepared. We had the pleasure of dining at the bar surrounding the kitchen. It was so much fun to watch the cooks prepare each dish. The flavors leapt out of the pans, tiny sparks of flame as they flipped the pasta and sauces. We had the blue crab linguine and the addition of a bit of chili oil really set this dish apart. My only complaint? Each portion was huge! We ended up over ordering. Will for sure make this a part of my Austin dining scene when I am in town. Worth the wait to get a reservation.

Imagine any of the fancier chain restaurants. Imagine pretty good but not great ingredients. Now, imagine way too much of every cheat ingredient like salt, butter and oil in pretty much everything you order. At this point you’re pretty close to understand Red Ash. The service was solid and it wasnt excessively loud but not quiet either. The ambience was that of any trendy restaurant whose facility is designed to last the term of its financing. Neither the food nor the facility resembled anything I’d call, “special”. More accurately I’d call it, “very not special”. I do not understand the rave reviews and feel sad for anyone who’s never spent way less for a much more special experience.
