Ramen-san is a bold and energetic neighborhood joint that slings hot noodles, ice-cold beer and rare expressions of Japanese whisky all to the tune of the best ’90s hip-hop in town. It respects the traditions but keep things uniquely untraditional in its yuzu sake bombs, crispy dumplings, spicy kimchi fried ramen and more. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner and late-night dining.

For a Ramen place, there’s a limited choice but it’s all very tasty.. My wife and I ordered separate bowls but they were kind enough to bring us two smaller bowls so that we could taste both our orders and share. Slurping is fine but I wish they would provide bibs instead of only napkins. As starters, the Roasted Edamame was delectable and unique, both spicy and salty. The Ramen bowls were delicious. The broth in the veggie bowl was far better than the pork. Who’d have thought that! I added chicken to the veggie bowl to satisfy my meat craving. The fried donuts at the end were a heavenly finale.

This is our revisited restaurant. The other locations can be very busy, but this one is just right.

Food was fantastic!! I love the ramen here. I had a 10 hour tonkotsu and it was delicious. The charshu melted in your mouth. I had a lychee-tini and it was a bit strong and I wish it had a fresh or canned lychee instead of a dried one.

Sticky Thai wings and Chicken & Vegetable Gyoza was fire! They graciously steamed another serving of the Gyoza for my daughter to avoid shellfish contamination due to her allergy.

We arrived 30 minutes early for our reservation, but there were numerous of empty tables. I asked the hostess if we could do a booth and didn’t mind waiting for one, but she immediately said it would be a while since most of the booths had just been sat the past 20 minutes. So decided to sit at a table and our server, Addison, greeted us. We placed our drink order with her. Immediately a booth got up after finishing their dinner and asked Addison if it would be okay if we moved to that booth and she said it was fine. We placed our order, I asked for a spicy kimchi and fried chicken ramen with chicken broth instead of pork and without butter corn. I also ordered the chicken karaage nuggets. When my ramen came out I added my chicken karaage nuggets into my bowl for additional protein and as I mixed my ramen I found corn at the bottom of the bowl. I informed Addison about the corn and she asked if I wanted my ramen remade and I said yes! Mind you that I had already mixed half of my karaage nuggets into my bowl and I knew I was at a loss. 5 minutes go by and Addison informs us that my ramen bowl won’t be ready until an additional 5 more minutes. That’s a total of 10 minutes and my fiancee was almost done with her ramen. I then waived Addison down and asked her if I could cancel my order due to the wait and she said she would ask too see if it wasn’t too late. She came back and said she was able to cancel the ramen and would bring the check shortly. She didn’t even asked too see if I wanted dessert or anything else to drink? A manager? Then approached our booth and dropped the check without apologizing for the mistake or even asked how was everything? My fiancee was very upset because she was still finishing up her ramen when the check was brought out. This has probably been the worst experience from management at any Lettuce Entertain Us.

We were visiting Chicago for the day and knew it would be busy, so we reserved a table as recommended on their site. We arrived 10 minutes early and they immediately sat us and provided 10/10 service. The restaurant was playing a variety of oldies and rap music & the pork belly mantou buns were delicious.
