Ramen-san is a bold and energetic neighborhood joint that slings hot noodles, ice-cold beer and rare expressions of Japanese whisky all to the tune of the best ’90s hip-hop in town. It respects the traditions but keep things uniquely untraditional in its yuzu sake bombs, crispy dumplings, spicy kimchi fried ramen and more. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner and late-night dining.

The ramen is fantastic! Great quality and super tasty!! Service was great and the ambiance is super cozy. I am definitely coming back here on a cold Wintery day for some cozy ramen.

Our son has allergies to nuts and sesame seed. The server asked proactively about allergies and then the manager came to discuss with us and was really great. They were very straightforward about what they could and could NOT do (all of which was completely reasonable and fair), and allowed us to make informed decisions on what we felt comfortable with choosing for our child. We understand that food allergies can be so hard for restaurants and we don’t expect definite guarantees. It’s always a general risk benefit that we are trying to teach our son to consider, and the manager being conscientious but also very honest with us has been one of the top restaurant interactions we have ever had.

Daniel, our server was fantastic! He answered our questions and made suggestions for us. The roasted edamame was the best we’ve had. My husband had the Maki express combo and I had the kimchi fried chicken ramen.

Nothing like a steamy warm bowl of 10 hour Tonkotsu ramen to treat a cold! I am a huge fan of the egg 👌🏻

The Ramen is so flavorful, the dumplings were so good, the chicken omg I asked to be cooked an additional 2-3 mins for extra crispy and they did just that. Literally best Ramen in Chicago.

For a Ramen place, there’s a limited choice but it’s all very tasty.. My wife and I ordered separate bowls but they were kind enough to bring us two smaller bowls so that we could taste both our orders and share. Slurping is fine but I wish they would provide bibs instead of only napkins. As starters, the Roasted Edamame was delectable and unique, both spicy and salty. The Ramen bowls were delicious. The broth in the veggie bowl was far better than the pork. Who’d have thought that! I added chicken to the veggie bowl to satisfy my meat craving. The fried donuts at the end were a heavenly finale.

This is our revisited restaurant. The other locations can be very busy, but this one is just right.

Food was fantastic!! I love the ramen here. I had a 10 hour tonkotsu and it was delicious. The charshu melted in your mouth. I had a lychee-tini and it was a bit strong and I wish it had a fresh or canned lychee instead of a dried one.
