Ramen-san is a bold and energetic neighborhood joint that slings hot noodles, ice-cold beer and rare expressions of Japanese whisky all to the tune of the best ’90s hip-hop in town. It respects the traditions but keep things uniquely untraditional in its yuzu sake bombs, crispy dumplings, spicy kimchi fried ramen and more. The restaurant is open for lunch, dinner and late-night dining seven days a week.

From the greeting, to our waiter Mike, to the food, it was just a fantastic experience. Glad we decided to try something we normally wouldn’t have while traveling.

The food tasted great! We started with the tuna & avocado and karaage chicken both were delicious! Then got the 10hr tonkotsu and my husband got the kimchi and fried chicken ramen, my husband said it's one of the best ramen he's had and I enjoyed mine! Our friend got ramen with gluten free noodles which she was excited about and enjoyed hers. Highly recommend eating here and I would make reservations if you can, they were full the whole time we were there!

Table was late and was the last time we can too but service and food made up for it. Our waitress was great.

Great service. The express lunch is great. Nothing like eating Ramen to old school hip hop.

I never write negative reviews bc restaurant work is hard, but extremely disappointing experience. Manager was passive aggressive and rude. They were 30 min behind on resos and didn’t go in the order of how reservations walked in the door. We had an 8:45pm reservation and were 5 minutes early. There was another 8:45pm reservation that walked in after us that was then sat before us. 1- I don’t know how the hostess didn’t pay attention to who was coming in in what order because that is important. 2- Open table (from years of working experience with Open Table) actually tracks the order in which guests check-in at the front. The manager ordered appetizers for us to make things right, but never asked us what we would like. She only asked if we had any allergies, which we don’t. She then was passive aggressive when I told her we didn’t like what she brought out even though I genuinely thanked her for the gesture. It was a great gesture just would have been better if she asked us what we would like or said “I’d like to get you some appetizers on us for your wait and mistake on seating”. Her friends were sat at a table right by us where she parked herself to chat with them and continuously played on her phone. Maybe it’s just me, but I wouldn’t put my friends right by the table that I was already rude to and it also made me curious if her friends even had a reservation. Then, the manager introduced our server to her friends so makes me believe that there could be favorites as the manager didn’t introduce any other team members to her friends. The server was inattentive and obviously didn’t care. The manager also said something to her while they were looking at us with an eye roll. The server would not make eye contact with us when walking by so we had to work to get her attention. I researched Ramen restaurants in Chicago because my boyfriend loves ramen. Very disappointing experience. Please coach your manager on guest relations and self awareness.

Service was great. Food was quick and tasty wings are to die for. Great ambience overall a great experience. Shout out to the staff for running this place amazingly. 100% would recommend.
