Ce restaurant caverneux a été construit à partir d'une église mexicaine déconstruite, comme l'indiquent les bougies de Santa Maria et la chaire transformée en bar. Great create food. Choose a bunch of appetizers and graze. Great atmosphere but when everyone has to use their cellphone flashlights to read the menu, maybe more table lamps, candles or a notch higher on the overhead lighting.

This was rich white people food. It tasted like the chef went on an all expenses paid trip to Oaxaca paid for by the investors and did nothing but get hammered on mezcal and then came back and threw together a menu based off of his French culinary training and the one class he went to that taught him mole. The drinks were proof that humans are the reason for the depleted ice shelves in the arctic because they used them all to fill my whole glass with ice and a shot glass worth of actual drink. The ambiance was nice despite us being barely being able to see the menu or our food because it was so dark, but it was a very disappointing birthday dinner especially with the price we paid. We will definitely not return.

The food was excellent. We were expecting the smaller portions as it seems to be the trend these days but they are reasonable - we even had leftovers. The setting is lively and interesting. Great drink menu!

Food was very underwhelming considering it’s not to hard to make good Mexican food. Had to remind server four time to bring us water and never ask if we needed anything.

We enjoyed the food ,decor,& service. Lyft was the only way to go since parking is crazy.Its very loud in all areas. Go early if you’re old ….ha ha

came for my 21st birthday. server confiscated my id and refused to give it back. only agreed to rescan it when I mentioned calling the police for stolen property. my table was visibly uncomfortable from the treatment and ego of the staff, who refused to simply apologize for the misunderstandings. servers and hostesses were disrespectful, avoided looking me in the eye or having a conversation about the issue. I’ve never been to a restaurant or met a manager who refused to take accountability or apologize regarding poor customer experience. 0/10 stars. I would never recommend. if you are young and hot or just a decent human being than this is not the place for you.

We had a reservation and weren’t seated for nearly an hour after our reservation time. Not even an apology was given. Ambiance was great and food was good but they majorly need to improve their customer service.

What a place. From the ambience to the food and service. Thomas was excellent. His explanation for the drinks to the food was to the T. Love the place. What an experience . I was in a different world. The owner should be very proud bringing his vision to reality for others to experience. Thank you❤️

On the plus side, the food is A+, some of the BEST Mexican food I have had. Authentic and tasty. The service was excellent. I didn’t care for the darkness inside the restaurant.

Great experience! Highly recommend the tamale with the mole amarillo, it was incredible, as was everything else. The service was amazing and they recommended drinks that paired perfectly. They ran through the menu in the most thorough and excited way. Loved it and will be back next time we’re in San Diego!

I loved this place. It was dark, moody, and the interior is gorgeous. Food was really great— get the fondue. Drinks were superb.

Planned to valet the car, as we had the 1st time, but upon arrival about 6pm, were informed they were out of capacity and parking hotel guests only. The valets then kept us all waiting in the driveway for 10 minutes, because they couldn’t or wouldn’t get hotel guests to close car doors and move to the right to let us out of the driveway. Drove ‘round and ‘round and were about to cancel the evening we’d planned in advance (as this place is typically booked on weekends) when a space finally opened up. Walked a few blocks on the usual dark, crumbling sidewalks, and were happy to arrive… Only to be kept waiting at the host station because the other couple in our party had by now stepped away. There’s no space for standing around the host station or bar…but you won’t be seated until everyone is standing ‘right there.’ We’ve enjoyed this restaurant, twice. Food this time was excellent - succulent whole fish, most tender ribeye, fantastic guac, smoky drinks, delightful flan. Server attentive, personable and knowledgeable. Kitchen was serving so quickly that we were rushed through the meal, start to finish. Decor and vibe are memorable, it’s highly energetic and seductive, way too dark and way too loud, but just go with it. Low rating is the valet situation and hosting. If valet parking isn’t assured for Quixote reservations, we will not be back. And let the guests be seated!

The ambiance and service are great. The quality of the food is good but the pricing is way off especially a glass of Nebbiolo for $21.00 and 2 tacos for $18.00. San Diego is a taco town and you can find equal quality for $10 - $15 all over SD.

I really wanted to give 5 stars but they had a construction worker right next to our table hammering away the entire time we were trying to have a nice relaxing lunch. They should have done the work around business hours. The service and food were great!

The food is especially great and service by Danny is fabulous! The atmosphere is dark and we all needed flashlights to see menu and food on the table. The noise level was moderate at first, yet as more people came, the noise became almost intolerable (especially from hearty laughing from a female server and a male patron). I think people don’t realize how the walls just amplify their voices!

What a spectacular experience. The ambiance and food were outstanding. There is so much to do and the many bar areas were a real treat. I highly recommend The Lafayette Hotel for an exceptional evening.

We were there early on a Monday night(5:30) so we got great service, as it became more regular dinner hour it filled up, interesting concept of Mexican fusion, everything we tried was good or very good Drinks were also Mezcal based and nice twist on classics. It is too dark....... I get setting a mood but it takes 15 mins. for your eyes to adjust they could use small battery powered lamps on each table without ruining the mood.

Loud, dark, noisy, hot, and fun (if you like that sort of thing.) The food was good, not great (The whole grilled fish and the Squash Blossom were two standouts - and okay, bordered on great.) Note: if you don't like an "energetic" atmosphere (i.e., loud) or you do like to see what you are eating.... maybe pick another restaurant at The Lafayette Hotel.

The restaurant is beautiful, service great, food delicious. My only complaint was that we were seated in a corner near the bar are that was so poorly lit that it impossible to actually see what were were eating. The food was delicious but the dark area took away from the enjoyment of it

Parking is an issue if you are just eating and not staying at the hotel. Hard to find street parking.

You can tell Quixote is poorly managed and improperly, if not under, staffed. I showed up on time for an 8:45 reservation, and was told by the host that tables just needed to get bussed and we’d be seated right away. Apparently there weren’t any bussers working, because the host ended going and clearing the tables himself. 20 minutes later we finally got seated. While waiting, I observed cooks from the kitchen running dishes to tables. No bussers or food runners?? Our server was ok, but the food was really not good at all. We had the ceviche, shrimp tacos, and beets. The only dish of the three that was at all decent was the beets. Super disappointing the whole experience felt so amateur since I love some of the other venues at the Lafayette. Will not go back and don’t recommend.

Service is incredibly slow. Very pricey and limited menu. It’s also really hot inside the restaurant. Food was decent but over priced. Amazing decor though.

This place deserves all praise! Arrived late and that is my fault but they were gracious in seating us. Busy Thursday made for an energetic atmosphere and Greg took wonderful care of us. He was attentive and pleasant, just overall excellent service from him. The drinks were delicious (Oaxacan Old Fashioned is a winner) and the food was incredible albeit a little pricy for portion size. The vibe in the restaurant is immaculate and it’s a very cool layout and design, makes for an immersive experience. Overall I will definitely be back for more and suggesting it to all my friends for sure.

Overall, Quixote food and service are good. However, checking in for our 7pm reservation on a weekday was very hectic and confusing. This process could be improved so that guests know if there is a line and not a free for all trying to reach the hostess for check in.

Amazing food, cocktails and ambience. Reserved a table for 7PM but didn’t get seated until 7:40- which meant time for cocktails. Not the place to have intimate conversation but lots of fun celebratory energy. I’ll be back!!
