Quarter Acre, a welcoming neighbourhood restaurant combined with an upscale dining experience, is inspired by Chef Toby Archibald’s world travels and New Zealand roots. When you enter Quarter Acre, you will be transported to a place of warmth and character. A journey from the earthy green musk of the New Zealand rainforest to the cool blue of the Pacific Ocean.

The Culinary Experience:
Enjoy food prepared using both classic and modern techniques with a strong influence placed on local and national, seasonal produce. At the same time, global ingredients will also have their place at the table, in particular items from Toby’s home country of New Zealand, such as fresh seafood and unique meats and flavours.

When dining with us, Quarter Acre accepts cash, debit, and credit card. A 3.4% convenience fee will be added to all payments made by credit card.

Awesome experience. The Somm and servers are lovely and knowledgeable. The menu is surprising and the food was delicious. Absolutely will be back.

This is clearly one of the finest dining experiences in Dallas. A perfect restaurant for foodies. Decor was really great, too, with sensitivity to noise levels. The food is the star here. Innovative, excellent, interesting and well-presented. Cocktails and wine selection are the same. This is the kind of place you want to come back to again to try a new dish. Service was precise and well-informed. This restaurant prizes and achieves extreme competence. Where we felt there was room for more improvement was on hospitality. There were multiple missed opportunities to make us feel warm and cared for. No one of them was so significant to warrant a complaint, but in the aggregate we were left a bit cold. Examples include literally the temperature of the dining room (70 degrees), the refusal to provide more than one serving of bread, asking us to bring our own cocktails from the bar to our table, small-ish portion sizes (for Dallas), and too-swift clearing of plates and glasses that might have a bite or sip left on them to consume. It’s ok for staff to feel on edge in an effort to achieve perfection, but such agita should not be imposed on diners. That said, we had a good experience and plan to return. Hopefully to a more relaxed staff next time.

Oh, what could have been. Quarter Acre had all the makings of the best dining experience in Dallas, but it fell unacceptably short in the final stage—the main course. The service was absolutely incredible from beginning to end. Dining room is quaint, eclectic, and the ambiance is joyful. Food-wise, things started off perfectly. The beautiful glass of Cabernet Sauvignon came straight from the cellar. The bread and butter were out of this world, and our small bites (“Gnudis”) were a great palette warmup. For appetizer, we ordered the deconstructed BLT. The flavors were big and bold, though my wife found the pork jowl a bit too thick and overpowering compared to the paper-thin toast and delicacy of the other elements. Sadly, the main course is where things went downhill. My wife ordered the Sunchoke Linguine. The pasta was cooked perfectly, but the flavors were all over the map, and it was extremely rich. It was fine but certainly didn’t wow us. By far the biggest disappointment of the night was the Venison Osso Buco. I expected the braised meat to be fork-tender, moist, and imbued with flavors. It was none of those. The venison was dry, required a knife to cut, and lacked any depth of flavor—essentially resembling overcooked pot roast. What little fat was on the meat did not melt away as I expected but instead was gelatinous, chewy, and very off-putting. The sauce was sparse and hardly noticeable. I did like the farrow and rutabaga—had the meat been tender and savory, it would’ve presented a nice balance of texture and citrus flavor. Unfortunately, because the meat was dry and flavorless, it didn’t pair well. The Quarter Acre experience could’ve been perfect, but it was marred by a main course that—for the price—was unacceptable. Given its reputation, we may think about giving the restaurant another chance down the road, in hopes that it was just an off night.

Amazing, unexpected, and creative! Nothing looked or tasted like the menu descriptions, but in surprising good ways. All of it was a step ahead and tasted even better than hoped. We will be back sooner!
