Chef Mathew Peters, the first American to win the prestigious Bocuse d'Or in 2017, is bringing his culinary expertise to the heart of Austin with the opening of Prelude, an elevated cocktail bar and lounge set in a historic home in West Austin.

Prelude will offer a unique Austin experience, combining innovative cocktail creations with elevated small bites. The menu will feature a curated selection of small plates, designed to complement the bar programs signature cocktails and highlight Chef Peters' culinary artistry.

Prelude is gorgeous and very aesthetically pleasing. Nice atmosphere and attentive staff! However, the cost of things is very high. Drinks are on the expensive side, and 4 chicken nuggets was priced at $24.. but it’s a steal because if you add caviar, it’s only $100 extra so it’s $124 for 4 chicken nuggies.

Great place for a date, but wouldn’t go to mingle or meet people since everyone is sitting. The drinks were ok. I was disappointed that they batch the drinks since they are on average $20 a drink. I expect them to be made to order at that price.

They initially had us seated outside, but was unbearably hot at 110, so we requested table inside Nothing readily available but they did manage to snag us a between table where we could have it 45 min before next resies Appreciated and was nice There was our drink waiter who constantly reminded us on time running out, starting with our first drink etc and he didn't let up Very annoying and uncomfortable

Inventive and balanced cocktails with interesting bites. The Parmesan tartlets are a must.

F&B was great, outdoors was too hot and lots of bugs, wait staff attitudes and knowledge were great, although we were waiting for drinks for quite a while. Will definitely return to try the full menu! design and ambiance was awesome.

This was our first visit and will definitely not be our last! We enjoyed sitting in the backyard. The service was exceptional from Mariel and the gentlemen that replenished our water and delivered our food! Oh! speaking of food..you must try the chef's version of "chicken nuggets"...delish! and the croquets were divine! To make the evening even more exceptional Slim...the manager came out to greet us, check in on how our evening was going and before we left he gave us a tour of the house, which is spectacular! We truly look forward to our next visit which is already booked for next month and we Absolutely recommend you to visit Prelude!

Our new favorite place for custom, craft cocktails of the highest caliber, and delicious bites. Friendly, knowledgeable staff, and an incredible atmosphere surrounded by beautiful art. We’ll be back. Often.

10/10 Excellent drinks and food. Sazeracs are excellent. Impeccable high end spirits selection. Chicken nuggets + Caviar were out of this world. Will be the new “it” spot in Austin.
