Even though Post is a new name for most of us, it has been an important part of South Hamilton history since 1924. The historic building at 16 Bay Rd. was home to the South Hamilton Post Office, and a place for residents to send and pick up letters. In response to the Great Depression, and a drop in the postage rate (from three cents to 2 cents), the Postmaster added more opportunities for residents to pick up their mail. At Post, which at the time was known as “the brick block building”, letters were piled on a table, and a bell was rung to let residents know that they could come and retrieve their mail. Keeping with that tradition, guests of Post will have an opportunity to “Ring the Bell”, which signifies that they have bought a beer for our hard working kitchen and waitstaff. Whether you are coming in to dine with family and friends, grabbing a drink and an appetizer, or picking up takeout on the way home, Post is here for you – rain or shine.

The high top table that we sat at was right next to the bar and the patrons who were standing and talking to others were constantly elbowing my daughter. It was not an enjoyable experience unfortunately.

Good food, many choices, from casual to fancy (along with prices like many higher end restaurants). Traditional cocktails probably not as good as contempory ones. Excellent service.

A large party with kids were next to us—really loud! More so the parents weren’t parenting the kids…it happens!!

Nice evening with friends at this busy spot. Great service and food was good. I wish they would vary the menu with specials because Inwoukd come back more. But overall recommend as a solid spot for couple, girls’ night, or a family. Something for everyone and the fire is cozy!

Food and drinks are delicious and good value. The atmosphere is warm and cozy. It is a very noisy place when busy, no sound barriers. Certainly, it won't stop me from returning, but maybe not on a Saturday night. 😉

I enjoyed my Cygnet salad with grilled salmon. I would like to see more gluten free options or gluten free listed on your menu. I will be back again with my husband to watch sports on the tv’s at the bar. Love the fireplace!

We arrived earlier than our reservation (about 15 minutes) and stood in front of the hostess station. Why? Because the woman there was looking down at a computer screen and clicking keys, and for at least an uncomfortable 2 minutes, she never acknowledged our presence two feet from her. Another server came over and looked a bit embarrassed, grabbed menus, and seated us with a smile. (Even while she was reaching around the hostess to grab the menus, the hostess continued to ignore our presence with head down, no eye contact). We then waited another uncomfortable 5-10 minutes or so in a next to empty restaurant (it was 4:30pm), when a server appeared, and he made all of the difference! From the moment we met Andy, the rest of our experience was great! Warm lodge type atmosphere, great drinks, food was SO good, everything was great and we'll definitely be back!I just thought the lack of interaction with the hostess at the entrance was super weird.

Service was outstanding. One complaint- please make normal tartar sauce available for the fish and chips and the fish sandwich! We did not appreciate the tzatziki sauce.
