Overall a nice experience. The service was okay, but definitely not great. The food on the other hand is fantastic. That bread is next level delicious.

Never had anything as remarkable as the crudo capesante, worth a trip to Portale all by itself. Each ingredient in the raw fish appetizer was distinct -- and the blend of flavors was outstanding. Highest marks, too, for the ippoglosso -- truffle-encrusted halibut with a foamy sauce and delectable 'shrooms. Service was attentive but not overbearing. This place is a must for serious foodies.

This is one of the great New York restaurants. It’s sort of heresy to say this but what Mr. Portale did for 35 years at Gotham he’s still doing — being endlessly inventive, but if possible doing it even better and with a new menu. (Except he still does an amazing tuna tartare.) We’ve had the octopus, kale salad, seafood salad, salmon, branzino, cavatelli, duck, halibut, and roasted potatoes. Every bite is a pleasure. Order bread, whatever they’re making that day. The room is simple and lovely and the service is pretty much perfect.

I usually eat at the bar. Booked a table for out of town friends. I always order the warm bread. This time I ordered so it was ready when my friends arrived, and it was not same. I was told that because it was Sunday night the restaurant serves a focaccia. It seemed like a large roll that was bought at a bakery and made hot in the oven. Not easy to slice. Not as warm or tasty as the usual bread. I wish I had known this. Especially since it was $9. And when I complained to the server, I felt it should have been removed from the bill. It wasn’t. I believe if you cannot serve the same bread on Sunday, then put on your menu Monday through Saturday only for the great bread. Halibut was delicious.

Food was delicious and service was outstanding. The waiter knew my allergies before I ordered and was able to accommodate absolutely everything graciously. One of the best meals we’ve had!

The main maître did not attend us even if that the Restaurant was not full. I believe that she delegated it because she didn’t want not to do it and did not understand about customer experience and how to deliver it. . The worst experience that we ever have had in many years in Restaurant specially with family. I will never attend it again Never!

Love this restaurant. Everything was perfect. The food is seasonal and delicious, the wine list is interesting and adventurous. Let the sommelier take you on a journey and try something you've never had before. The service is anticipatory and accommodating. Chef Portale watches the dining room to make sure everyone is happy and that everything is running smoothly while overseeing the kitchen at the same time! We had the lobster pasta, the halibut and the duck. Be sure to order the veggie sides. The rainbow Swiss chard reminded me of my grandmother's! Can't wait to return!

The food and drinks were excellent. We had the octopus and lobster appetizer, burrata salad, risotto and mafaldine entrees. All were excellent. Service and atmosphere were perfect. Alfred always delivers.

I’ve been here several times and it’s always an excellent dining experience. I started the evening waiting for a friend at the bar where I had a “Fragherita”a Marguerita with hints of rhubarb. Strawberry & lime, very refreshing. Upon seating. We were informed of ghe night’s specials, which included homemade papperadelle with shaved black truffles and a soft shell crab with a spice yellow pepper sauce. I didn’t have to look at the rest of the menu to know that I would be having those specials! Both ere excellent , and delicious. The Panna cotta dessert was also spit on. Can’t wait to return!
