Average Italian food. Very courteous and friendly hostess Our server didn’t impress at all or maybe was his first day. He was just a simple order taker, after I paid and tipped, not even an interaction from his side, very unfriendly, but the rest of the crew was attentive. The food was ok.

Our first experience at Pomodoro will be our last. The dining room was freezing cold and cramped. We were the only people in the restaurant at 6:00pm 🚩. Server was not attentive at all. Few other couples showed up throughout our meal and the dining room and became very loud. As bad as that was our food was horrible. We ordered the artichokes as an appetizer and they were extremely overcooked and in pool of oil. I ordered the VITELLO PICCATA and it was a small portion of veal that was boiled in lemon and butter very chewy. It came along with a side of raw mixed vegetables. My girlfriend ordered the LINGUINE DI MARE with white wine sauce. This was inedible.. I wish I would have gone to the Italian restaurant next door

We hadn't been to Pomodoro since the pandemic, and had forgotten how great the food, service and overall ambiance of this place is. My only nit is the when the check comes and the wait staff gives you the "electronic bill" and stands there waiting for you to review the charges and and determine the tip amount. It feels very intrusive.

The lasagna and lobster ravioli are excellent. The look of the restaurant from the street is a little shabby but that doesn’t detract from the food or service, which is excellent and fast, but not rushed. Parking is either on the street or in the small off street parking area. Seated on the open covered patio I felt quite comfortable. Great for a family dinner or date.

We have been coming here for over a decade and the quality of the dishes and care from the team is unwavering. It’s a cozy, homey Italian spot that serves the best tomato-based sauces I’ve ever had. And don’t miss out of the Fileto Nostrano.

Tried this place at random. Had good reviews so we thought we would give it a go. Nice little restaurant, friendly ambience. Not real pleased with the food. Bread seemed old and almost stale. Caesar salad lacked any perceptible dressing. My wife was happy with the quantity of mushrooms in and on her ravioli. I ordered lasagna, and the serving temperature of the dish was mixed -- some of it was hot, as it should be, while a few bites were ice cold, as if the portion had been in the freezer and heated ( but not all the way through ) just prior to being served. The wait staff was fine and overall everyone was friendly and helpful. Just not pleased with the overall quality of the food.

I found this restaurant by searching the area around Humphrey's By the Bay, where I was attending a concert later that evening. Was a little confused when I arrived at the restaurant due to the presence of another Italian restaurant with a similar sounding name in the same building. We kept our reservation and found this to be a charming, reasonable choice for good Italian food. It was a quiet and unassuming venue which proved to serve very good food at reasonable prices. My wife had the fusilli with meat sauce which was superb. I had the risotto with chicken which was very good. Both portions were generous and served piping hot. I will put this on my list as a definite to return to whenever we are in the area.

We found Pomodoro last February during a stopover in San Diego and loved it. Went back again last week during a visit. Great quality food, clearly made with love and care. We'll be back on another visit!

The penne arrabiata was delicious! I think having a vegetarian option of that dish, or serving it with shrimp instead of chicken would be even better! Great service. My dad and uncle loved the lasagna.

We have been here about a dozen times and this was by far not our favorite visit, and to be honest not sure I would return. First, we were seated right next to the kitchen and bathroom. Certainly this did not make for a relaxing and calming dinner environment. We decided since we were hungry to get straight to our main courses. My sons basic penne with garlic, EVOO and butter was perfect, you have to really try to mess that one up. My GF pasta with Bolognese was extremely heavy. Being an Italian family this was FAR from a traditional sauce - it was creamy - much like a vodka mixed with some meat. My husband said his lasagna was "just okay!" Honestly, service was good - all very nice, friendly and attentive but for what you get, price you pay not.

Probably one of the most authentic Italian restaurants in the city. The food is outstanding and the service is always on point. Highly recommend this gem in Point Loma.

We just sat down and the server came over to take our order, so we stated we just sat down & we needed a few minutes. After he came back to take our order that was the last time we saw him until we asked the buser to send him over with our check. The homemade bread was the best part of the meal. Both pasta dishes we ordered were disappointing, neither had much flavor.

The difficulty with our dining experience is that the kitchen and staff proceeded to bring out salads, entrees, desserts, to go containers etc. quickly and without regard to whether our party was ready for the next course. This tainted the whole evening.

I look a customer there who had been several times. The food was excellent, although the linguine a bit watery. He had a dish not on the menu and loved it. Great service, lovely ambiance. I’ll be back soon.

Pomodoro Ristorante is an "okay" Italian restaurant. Food is good, not exceptional. They seem (at least the evening we were there) to by under-staffed. Our waiter was very busy and was unable to give us the attention we normally expect at a good restaurant. Although he got to our table for initial contact/greeting in a timely manner, it took him 5-10 minutes to get back to us with the bottle of wine we had ordered. He was also a little slow to return after that to take our order, which was then delivered in a reasonable amount of time. The food was good, the bread very good. After finishing, our table was cleared by a busser. It was several minutes after that before the waiter brought our desert menu. We had intended to have a desert before heading to a concert at a nearby venue, however, no one ever returned to the table to ask if we wanted desert. There are a lot of choices for food in this area, and we probably won't return to this restaurant.
